Din giving Grogu exposition in Season 3 makes a lot of in-universe sense - since Din doesn't have to deliver Grogu anywhere anymore, it's now Din's responsibility to raise him, which involves talking to him and teaching him pretty much everything. Also, talking to a child is the best way to encourage him to speak back.

I feel like Bo needs to talk to Din about Satine, particularly her death. Maul essentially took over Death Watch, which got Satine killed. Din is from some offshoot of Death Watch, so as much as his sect likes to believe in the creed, they are ultimately part of the group that led to their downfall. I’d love to see this conversation between Bo, Din, and the Armorer.

Regarding the baptism thing, in Catholicism, you’re baptized as a baby, with your parents reciting the words, but you retake the vows yourself when you’re 14, called Confirmation. That’s kind of the vibe I got with Din purifying himself in the waters of Lake Minnetonka. (Purple Rain reference.) I also worry that the lack of any mention of Satine is leading up to a reveal of the Armorer’s identity. It’s a safe bet with Star Wars that they’ll take the dumbest story course, and we’ll be treated to a “Somehow, Satine survived” moment before the season’s end.

I watched a review of this episode, after I had seen the episode that is, and there was some really bizarre comments/criticism to this episode. Like for instance that the writers forgot the plot of the episode and he brought up that Mando wanted a droid to scan for toxins and that the astromech couldn't do that according to Mando himself from earlier when he talked to the mechanic who sold the astromech. I would argue that Mando wants a droid that can scout and take samples effectively. On a surface like Mandalore and in caves, legs would be better than tracks. It was also very clear that the guy had not watched the episode too close as he mentions that all it takes to capture Mando is to grab him. He did not notice that Mando was injected with something. He apparently also totally skipped or forgot the part were the mechanic mentions that R5 can fly the ship so he (the reviewer) talks about Grogu being the one to fly the ship to Bo-Katan. I've watched many videos from that reviewer and mostly I agree with him but I have to say when he misses things like that, obvious things, I'm not sure what to think of other reviews he's done for movies and episodes that I have not seen. The plot holes and so on things that he points out could have been mentioned and shown, he just didn't notice them. Then again, he's a bit anti Disney which is understandable, especially with Star Wars but you have to learn to judge each show and episode and not put them all in the "Disney Star Wars bad" category right away. Before seeing something, being skeptical is good, being judgmental is not. Judgment comes after but if you expect to judge a product badly, you probably will do that no matter what.

I hope there are secrets to Mandalore yet to be uncovered. When I originally saw the city buried, I thought it was some huge mining rig. How cool would it have been if there were zero remnants of the original city and in its place an Imperial mining facility. Could also explain where that Imperial-stamped beskar came from in season one, and would've given Din a new obstacle to overcome. This episode was fine, it just didn't "wow" me or anything. I love seeing Din explaining to Grogu how to become a Mandalorian, even if they're only together from mess that was Book of Boba Fett.

No, the key to taming the Mythosaur is Grogu, that same way that he mind-melds with the Rancor in the Book Of Boba Fett, but only it will be for his father, and not Bo. Grogu will probably awaken Din’s latent Force sensitivity to end his struggle with the Dark Saber as well.
@istari0
@istari0 Год назад
So, having achieved his goal in going to Mandalore, does Din head right back to the Armorer, expecting to be re-admitted to the faithful? Will she accept that he redeemed himself? What if she doesn't? I think the ending will be a transformational moment for the relationship between Din and Bo-Katan and it could end up anywhere from them becoming friends and allies to becoming enemies and it will mostly depend on how she reacts to the sight of the Mythosaur because there's no way she just goes back to sulking on throne. I think the question here is does she go back with Din or does she use her knowledge of the Mythosaur to try and reassemble the forces she had?

Here's a weird idea -- if Din was not pulled in by the Mythosaur, maybe the Darksaber (which Din was probably still wearing, though I guess he could have taken it off too) was drawn in to the waters, or maybe the Mythosaur was attracted to it. The Darksaber is made from an unusual type of Beskar, so that could be the reason he was pulled down to the bottom so fast.

Hate to be that guy, but while I thought this was an improvement over the last, I'm left with questions I feel I shouldn't have. SPOILERS For example, why did we get an episode setting up IG-11 only for R5 to go do what Mando needed IG to do. Why all of that? Also, it seems silly that a spaceship does not have a sensor showing atmosphere breathability levels. Kind of like a car not having an engine I would think. Also, maybe nitpicky, but Mando having to be saved twice in the same episode seemed a bit much, especially since the second saving became the way we get the creature. Which was great, don't get me wrong. I'm just asking folks to write it better is all. Mostly an improvement.

I liked a lot about this episode but do find the exposition distracting. Great chemistry between Din and Bo though, some of the best acting we've gotten! I wonder if Bo is experiencing some dissonance around pacifist versus warrior Mandalore... not that it would matter much with the Empire anyways, but Satine, her family legacy... it's a big deal. It's probably confusing and might be contributing to her apathy. Like, was Satine right? Are these cultists right? How would she lead her people? It's a lot!

I feel there is now a general feeling of the fanbase turning against Mando because of the BTS stuff with studio interference and Grogu's shoving back so soon, and what not. In a universe of violence, being a pacifist is suicidal. As to Din falling into the water due to currents, there was no indication on the surface of such turbulence that that much power would have made. Perhaps like the Samurai of ancient Japan, the Mandalorians succumbed to PRIDE and let it supplant real honor. The schisms about what a real Mandalorian is shows a fractured culture, and the frankly stupid [yes, I said that] helmet rule versus the other "mortal sins" rules are hypocrisy to the extreme. They are rule-focused on individual letters instead of the WORDS, and even worse, what the words are SAYING!!! That's the failure of these "rules". It was literally IMPOSSIBLE for Din to rescue Grogu without removing his helmet [even though all but Mayfield are dead...but, at the end season 2, he shows Grogu what he looks like and everyone on the bridge saw him.... there are just times where blind adherence to any rule is foolish.

My only nitpick... was how much they made Din incompetent next to BoKatan this episode. Din is usually quick reflexed and competent, but he was just constantly 'saved' this episode. His capture by the spider? Fine, I love how it brings BoKatan into the story. BoKatan turning the ambush on the aliens in the ceiling instead of blundering into it like Din? Cool, BoKatan is a hardened veteran compared to Din, makes sense. Her taking on spider thing and fighting like a badA with the darksaber? Again... awesome and makes sense for her. But Din falls into the deep end of the pool... and he sinks and knocks himself out so she has to save him again? Sigh. All they needed to do was use what we already knew. Din can pressurize his helmet, falling into the deep end shouldn't be life threatening to Din. If BoKatan had found him standing at the bottom looking around it would have seriously helped keep him not look like a bumbling bafoon next to BoKatan. I understand the story reasons for getting her into the pool to see the Mythosaur and bath in the waters... but it doesn't have to completely come at the expense of Din.

You have to understand how emotional this is for Din. He had never been here before, he is in awe, this is also a spiritual journey for him as he is looking for redemption in the eyes of the followers of his creed. It is no surprise that he was “sloppier” than what we are used to. Bo Katan thinks this is all foolish, and silly that the “lowly masses” believe in. You can see her mock turn into some kind of respect as Din says the words and submerges himself in the waters. This is followed by her seeing the Mythosaur which means her entire worldview has changed in one instance after a life of mockery and ridicule towards believers. She was an arrogant, spoiled badass and came out of the waters humbled. They are both transformed in different ways.

I don't think this chapter plays up Bo Katan that much, or that it comes at the expense of Din. It makes sense that Bo Katan is that much more confident on Mandalore and with its creatures because she lived there a huge chunk of her life. The things that are new to Din are her old home. She was also the old owner of the Dark Saber. Gar Saxon and Pre Vizla knew how to fight using a lightsaber, using the darksaber specifically. She probably had the time to train with it and gain confidence using it.

@@bobthebonzo No you are not understanding. Every single moment of BoKatan is perfect for her character. I have zero complaints about BoKatan and her skills. My point is just that Din was... as someone else said, having a bad day all around. It makes sense he gets captured by spider. It doesn't make sense that falling into the deep of the water knocks him out. He can pressurize his helmet... he did it this episode. He also didn't fall off a building, even if he sunk fast, it isn't going to be enough to knock him out. All I am saying is, BoKatan should have found him awake down there looking around, not knocked out again... that small change would have kept it from being such a looney toons day for Din, but they did it so that Din wouldn't see the Mythosaur I think... but it was just the cherry on the "Din sucks today" cake of this whole episode and I don't see why him not seeing it matters. The entire Mythosaur thing was for BoKatan's character building anyways.

Nah. Bo may not be a bloodthirsty warmonger like Pre Vizsla, but she has not, does not, and will never embrace her sister's uncompromising pacifism. Ironically enough, Bo-Katan sounds (and to an extent, acts) more like Boba Fett than either of the two of them. While she still retains some of that Death Watch viciousness, which is especially apparent when she fights, she also has some compassion, a little bit of trustworthiness in others, and an exceptional desire to do right by her people via leading them to prosperity. Much like Boba after he escapes the Sarlacc. Those two may not get along all that well, but Boba and Bo-Katan have quite a bit more in common than they'd care to admit.
@TransamJc

@@occam7382 I am just saying taht herr wisdom seems to reflect more of her sister then she realizes. Will bo go pacifist like satine was never you are right. But Bo like satine are determined. HOw she ffeels how the divisiveness is what lead to the purge and such she needs to find the middle ground between those who still clingg like Rook aka the armorer and new mandalorians like Alirich wren. Who finds another way of fighting a battle then brute force which i think is why he is a foil to death watch ursa. this poses a question URsa was Bo's right hand for so many years. I doubt Ursa would just abandon her on Kalava to sulk. So the question is what happened to Krownest and clan wren because even to this pointt sabine is still on lothal. But remember Sabine thinks that bo katan has the wisdom of a ruler. It was a nice call back to rebels during the duchess mission that she talks about the divide between her and her sister was probably whatt made them weak and easy prey for the emprie. Though sabine did nott help much in that regard. I wonder what other weapons she developed besides the duchess. I agree that she is more like boba but i would like to think that with what she has experienced and gone through splitting off death watch. Losing her sister Losing her world and the dark saber. Does bo believe that some of satines own choices had merit. Can she bridge the divide. Because i can tell you know no matter if she ends up on the back of that Mythasaur. She will stil have to try and sway people like alrich who clings and knows tradition but takes a more i am not a fighter approach.

Adhering to the Code as it is (in its current form) is what is holding the Mandos back as a society. "Systems Adapt or Die" as Deidra has said and it's true. Wearing their helmets all the time (especially in their interactions with each other) makes it easy for them to de-humanize one another, hence the constant state of warfare amongst themselves. I submit a better adapted version would be that the Mandos need to helmeted ONLY in their interactions with Non-Mandos.

I mean, the way Din speaks sometimes as if he’s rolling daft dogma off his tongue just sounds so silly and stilted (“…so I may bathe in the living waters”…). Do we really want that to be sort of thing all Mandalorians become now? Do we want Bo to shove her helmet and never take it off? No! Hey Thor, Dave Filoni had some L takes on par with Rian Johnson recently. He demonized fans for thinking Boba Fett was cool, keeps taking dumb cheap shots at Luke Skywalker fans. He's not some "last of what Yoda considers a Jedi" like Filoni and clearly Rian think when he literally defies Yoda and Ben in the movie and proves them wrong. They thought redemption of Anakin was impossible, so he's not following in their footsteps, he's literally "the first of the new." Timothy Zahn clearly understands the OT better than the guy who spent 10 years of his life in revisionist history to fix the PT, now he can't help himself but overanalyze and misinterpret the OT. Filoni literally got a brainrot from talking too much with Rian Johnson, and not enough with George Lucas. Clearly he seems more interested in his own fanfiction characters than legacy of Lucas.
