Love the videos John I do wish they were longer I could watch for hours I like soaking up your knowledge and apply it to my rigs always learning something new and you make it entertaining
Hi broo... Nice video. May i ask and please ur the best suggest setup for my axial wraith combo motor 27T stock with HB1080 esc. For the best smooth anf bashing crawler... Please...
I know a lesser human that runs a brushless 4s setup on a TRX4, god dam crawling got so popular that the bashers tell us how to set up our trucks Let’s talk gates and control and scale, I’ve been competitive rc crawling since we had to build our crawlers because there were none on the market. I can bump anything with a brushed 35t for comp crawling I’m running 2 75turn RC4WD motors on a bullyii. I win comps a lot brushed 2s This seems to be a ploy to pull the civilized crawler and scale model builder down the the level of a basher. Let’s put way more power and break everything so I constantly have to funnel money into the industry. Have at it bashing a stock wraith most of us have $200 hardbody’s, scale accessories and gates to worry about RU-vid old comp crawler videos. We’ve been going backwards courses are easier as the popularity increases
I agree fully, ive been crawling since 2002 and started going to USRCCA nats and hosting missouri events in 2005. I still have my TLT axled bender customs rig. For comp use the sweet spot is between 1500 and 1800kv on 3s IMO, or 35t to 27t speeds. I'm only running a 16t Crawlmaster in this rig, about like a 30t. It's just barely enough speed to bump, but not enough to get me in trouble. I'm a big part of the fast trail rig push though, the 3500 Puller pro got a lot of engineering time to be smooth starting yet have obnoxious wheelspeed. I developed it specifically for the wraith rock racer platform.
Thanks John for all of your videos. I am learning so much being new to the hobby. I can actually easily tolerate listening to you video after video...haha.
Hi John, I have a Quickrun 1080 for my crawler (emo at4) running a 3s lipo with the stock 35t motor. It's fun overall, but sometimes I want more speed for trail running just to get out of the slow crawling mind set, can you recommend a motor for this ESC that can provide more running speed? Thanks
I have a TRX4 sport with Traxx and appreciate this video. My vehicle definitely needs both wheel speed, as it goes through another reduction from being tracked, and torque to climb obstacles.
Great video. Informative and funny! I prefer a brushless setup myself on 3S. Not to many rocks where I am but lots of dirt hills where i need to clear the tyres :)
So I have a Losi Nightcrawler SE. It comes stock with a 35T brushed motor. I like the function on the remote of the three speeds, and I only run a 2s battery, which I will change today, to a 3s. If I were to switch motors as well, which one would you recommend? Thanks in advance for your advice and great products.
Dude, thank you so much. I hope you never tired for reading that. I’m learning more and more, becoming broke, and more broke, trying to keep up, and keep my vehicles maintained. How ever it’s very frustrating when. You pay good money, and receive horrible quality control items that cost so much, and you help make my budget life, like many others, stay in the hobby world, and keep me sane. So Peace, and thanks.
Hello there,i'm leo from malaysia, big fan of your holmes hobby parts,i'm on my way to buy a kit from axial scx10,just what i only can afford..the matter is,if i like more speed and also slow with rock climbing, what motor that i had to buy,i'm now using 320a china esc, what kind of motor suit my crawler?
Was anyone else thinking "Here's Johnny!" at the end of the video? lol Think you may have convinced me to give 3S a go again, I tried it once before but always preferred the convenience of 2S as that's what I run in my race cars meaning I can share lipo's.
Def a good set up, a better steering servo helps a bit. I think with a smaller or more front mounted battery you can do bigger obstacles. Myself with the Blazer i can say the bumpers are sorta limiting factors for some stuff. Otherwise its a great Scale Crawler.
Hi holmes, i would like to ask... Let's say i have 2 setup : 1000kv with 40:1 gear ratio 2000kv with 80:1 gear ratio Both are the same size motors, just different kv Esc hobbywing axe, 5200 mAh 35C 3S batter, and use in same kit, given the gear ratio the speed is about the same right? What i wanna ask Which one has more torque? Which one is more efficient? Which one has more runtime?
Faster motor with more geardown will have more torque, generally run more efficient, but might have lower runtime if you use the extra torque. The faster motor itself will also pull more amps and be capable of more torque, and when combined with the geardown you could get 4x the torque at the wheel if needed. Also, more geardown gives better drag brake and rpm control while hitting an object or load.
bought a Element 4runner for xmas. Its slower then frozen syrup. its a 13T motor. which motor would be my best bet for a bit more speed with a 2s battery?
I've got the gladiator with the stock 35T motor still in. But I have your 10T & 21T motors on standby. Help me decide which to install. Also, I still have the stock ESC(which is nice) in, with the hobbywing 1080 on standby as well. What would y'all do? Thanks
I must find myself a new motor for gmade buffalo. My rc was crazy fun with 27t 540 goolrc and 3s battery. But motor was smelly and hot. I'm thinking about going 5-pole 550 13t or 14t. I'm not sure what motor I need to get similar top speed without the excessive heat build up. Gmade gs02f has 2speed transmission.
RC crawling with Bob Ross lol. I’m slowly becoming a customer. Usually I’d just go with Hobbywing but they don’t have what I’m after. I’m building a mega truck with a brushless system. I’ve got a 4370 in an SCX10 and that’s peppy, but I want more.
Hi! Spring is here, my Capra kit to! Sorry for my writhing, i’m french canadian... I’m new in crawling and there is so much to learn. I’ve decided to try your Crawlmaster sport 16t to match axial specs... Thinking after a bunch of readings to go with a 11t pinion to get a little bit more boost like you said! But now that i’ve seen this video, i’m thinking to go further... Whats the boost difference beetween the sport 16t and the pro 16t? Any other advice for a newbie like me? By the way, i’m a big fan of your videos. Top notch informations. You rock! Thank’s!
I just picked up the scx10 ii raw builders kit and also picked up a Tekin BXR esc. I like the low, low crawl speed and high end wheel speed of your wraith and want the same. Are you running the BXR also? Which motor is this and how much is it? Trying to stay on a budget. Thanks in advance!
You're my hero John!! Discs, tiny trucks and wake n' bake are the only reasons I get up every morning, but ur videos and wake n' bake r the reasons I get up in the evening!! John Wayne Holmes we love ya!! Silly funny face goes here✓
I need help knowing what will be good in my trx4bronco bronco. I would like speed but crawl as well. Which is better brushless or brushed? Thanks brother
I just bought a wendingo kit and I want a brushed setup with good wheel speed but can crawl as well, I was thinking a 21t trail master sport on 2s with a 1080 hobbywing esc. I’ve been out of the hobby a while what do you think? Would the 13t work for me and not overheat?
I have a Axial Bomber with stock axial esc with a axial 20t love the wheel speed on 3s 2s is to slow but i keep burning up motors and escs on 3s.mostly used on trail and bashing The bomber weighs in at 8.5 pounds What esc and motor combo do you recommend thank you
I have a stock trx4 chassis kit that I want to regear to crawl slower on the 1st gear. I am unsure on if I should be looking to increase or decrease the pinor gear to slow down the wheel speed. I am also unclear on if decreasing wheel speed will put more stress on the components. Any help would be appreciated.
Brushless brushless brushless. You offer low speed control and crazy wheel speed with you pullers. Plus who doesn’t like ripping across open ground to the next trail?
I have a temper gen 2, and I know it's small but I want to achieve the same thing, the setup is perfect for rock bouncing and crawling, so what do you suggest cause I am new to this
I love the subject of your videos but I will talk more about camera details. In studio, you are using too much of scaling. Also, when you change to the second camera, the color correction is not the same. You should place it on your timeline make the color correction so both look the same and then, start to edit the 2 clips together. Keep up the good work!
I've got an everest 10 and am looking to upgrade my motor for something with a little more wheel speed but still able to crawl. What motor would you recommend?
Howdy partner so I have a few projects going. Was wondering was is the most bad a$$ motor you got for hill climbing and truck pulling and stuff like that. And I'm setting on the revolver but I see there was 2 different ones? I forgot witch one you told me before for me trx4 bronco. Thanks bud
@@HolmesHobbies perfect I may grab them both can't have to many motors can you lol and I was told you could do a custom wound motor ? Would that benefit me at all ? Yes I know it sounds like I want a brushless motor but I want a brushed motor that will eat a brushless. If you could do that.if not I'll happily grab both them motors.
@@mainebearhunter3444 A custom wound brushless motor would be $130+. I do not have the blank stators to do it now, but if that was in your budget range I'll order parts and offer it in the future.
@@HolmesHobbies sounds good bud this will be done throughout the winter. And I have no budget on my motor on this rig . I'm going all out on everything. So I will be in touch. I'll email you when I'm ready. But yes if you're willing. That's what I want. Thanks
the price is 4.2x in my country.. too sad can't afford a good combo..only using the 550 motor with 1080 hb combo..anyway,its a great too have a wheel speed on certain obstacles yes...
The 1080 is just fine. The holmes brushed esc is amazing its true but I wouldn't worry too much. The 1080 is crazy good at an amazing price. I wish it could 4s, because at 80 amps with high turn crawler motors it should be able too, but it's still my go to esc for brushed.
