G'day Roberta 👋🏻💖 Thank you, I can't wait to give these shells their permanent places in my display cabinet! I am so grateful to Trudy, this gift was really too generous; the scallops and lion's paw in particular! So, for shells with more than one name, I think it's just what certain books published their common names to be, you know, before the internet centralized that knowledge. I have an old seashell book that say my Bean Trivias are actually called Little Rice Cowries. So, if a shell has two common names, it's no big deal. If it has two scientific names, it means it's taxonomy has changed over the years: simple put, the shell was categorized into a new sub-species listing, so it's name changed to reflect a great accuracy for what it actually is. And if I don't know what something is, that's fine, I don't mind admitting that I have no idea 🤣 though I do sometimes like to give it a try even if I'm wrong (I'm very thankful to a few watchers who tell me when I make a mistake). Hehe, my new Bat Volute from Trudy does look like a Noble Volute, but they are two different shells! I do have a Noble Volute in my cabinet already. I didn't really have anything to reference the size of the Lion's Paw against because I have only even seen them in pictures and they rarely pop up in Florida shelling videos... But... It's REALLY huge, right?!! I was shocked 😳 a lot of the shells that Trudy sent me are so rare, I was quite taken-aback by the generosity of this gift, it was such a surprise. Even the more "common" shells from the USA like the Calico Scallops and the Knobbed Whelks are so rare to me; I will never find them here halfway around the world. Trudy is such a wonderful lady and we have become great friends over the months; I'm really spoiled by her ❤️ an, honestly, everyone else too. G'day Trudy 👋🏻💖💖 I'm finally getting to messages after a big day at Hervey Bay yesterday 😉 Thank you again so, so much for this amazing box. I know I have already said this before, but you are truly too generous, and gosh, I was quite taken-aback at many of the surprises you sent my way. I absolutely love each and every one of these shells. Gosh, I'll have to work on finding a spot in my cabinet for them; I can't wait!! Oh yes, I did a bit of extra research on all of the shells...mostly so I could copy/paste their names into the video without needing to manually type them all. It lead me to looking into the shells a little more, which I think was a fun little diversion for me while editing the video 📷 oh, I thought that Venus with the hole was one of the ones for a necklace (I think you mentuoned that before??) I think all of them are lovely 😍 The big Lion's Paw is definitely my overall favourite too, the colour is amazing, but it was a hard choice because there are so many amazing shells! Thank you so much Trudy 💖 this is way more than enough, you don't need to keep breaking up your collection for me; just enjoy them!
