I love Jon's unintentional foreshadowing of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's tracks during Cuphead. "It really is admirable that a company's doing DLC five years after launch."
Watching GVG reactions is so much better because everyone else just reacts to the major things like Kirby and Strikers, but here they see literally anything and are like "OMG KLANOA" and just pop off
So I noticed right away, you guys have a hard time synching up the stream among the 6 of you. Thankfully, I learned a trick to help with this. With a live video/stream, play the video at 2x speed. Once it catches up to the actual live stream, the video will return to 1x speed on its own. So spread the info and not have to worry about syncing up the streams in situations on these. Everyone, upvote this comment if this works for you in the future.
As someone who plays MLB The Show, having it on switch will be nice for when I wanna play it in a hotel room in the middle of summer or something and don't want to lug my PS4 around. Having the first one on Switch have Shohei on the cover is amazing too.
This stream was a bit chaotic. Felt bad for those in the stream that were clearly several seconds behind and the others were spoiling it for them. Looking forward to this being polished in the future. Great channel.
Well as far as official awards goes, neither will get it. Xenoblade always gets shafted and Kirby is Kirby. It will get best family game and that's it.
@@maxrn3923 I mean, you're buying enough content for a whole new Mario Kart game, for less than half the price of a whole Mario Kart game. Pretty bonkers deal.
I rather watch the direct on its own, and come back for your commentary: so sorry not to watch live with ya, but when things like Chrono Cross and Klonoa got revealed, just know I instantly imagined what your reactions would be like. They're not games I'm into, but you guys mention em so often I can't help but be happy for y'all. It was SUCH a good direct!!
Why would anyone watch it with a channel anyways? They talked over everything. I always watch on my own and come back. You can't really enjoy it for what it is if you're watching a reaction first.
Rlly? I consider this direct very redundant. Compared to the last one, there just wasn’t a lot of IPs that grabbed my attention besides Strikers and maybe Xeno 3. It makes sense that the more important ones are being scheduled for E3, but a lot of the stuff here could’ve been presented as individual trailers if I’m frank.
That was CRAZY. Easy 9/10 for me. If Breath of the Wild 2 was there, it would be the best Direct I’ve ever seen for sure. What the hell could Nintendo pull out for the second half of the year?!
Breath of the Wild 2 lmao. But in all seriousness, if the first half of the year is gonna be this nuts then they really must have some heavy hitters set up for later in the year. Especially since they tend to have stronger last half of a year than the first
What else do you need to see from BotW 2? Are you not going to buy it unless you see more? If you liked the first one, there's no chance you won't like what will undoubtedly be an expanded and refined version of the same core ideas. Seeing anything more is basically just a spoiler for no benefit. What we really need to see is Metroid Prime 4.
@@mielthesquid6536 Aonuma has been outstanding as director. Ocarina of Time changed 3D game design as we know it, and Breath of the Wild has done it again. Admittedly the OoT style of design overstayed its welcome, but the games were still popular and acclaimed, so I can't really blame them for sticking with it, and most of those games are still great. There are a lot of other designers who waste far more potential than Aonuma.
im pretty sure they've seen the tweets and rewatched the trailer but i love them saying "it's nia" to the wrong catgirl and not comment on the catgirl who's actually basically nia at the end there
Ten year olds who played Mario Kart 8 in 2014 are now adults, and they get to play new content in 2022. Let that sink in. This game literally was part of some people's entire childhood all the way up to adulthood, and it's still going.
I just gotta say, I completely agree with Ash that Airship Fortress should be brought into MK8, but I will die on the hill covered in rushing water that is Koopa Cape.
@@patrickramseyart If they brought back Diddy and Funky, and even added Dixie, I would actually be so happy. Donkey Kong Country is very special to me. I want the Kongs in MK again. It needs to happen.
I loved Front Mission 3 on PS1, so I'm hyped to go back to the 1st 2 games. I love 2D-HD games so I'll get Live A Live. Chrono Cross Remaster for $20 is a must buy. I loved that game. I missed Star Wars Force Unleashed so I'm happy to see that come over. Most hyped for Xenoblade Chronicles 3. Mario Strikers looks fun. I hope Fire Emblem Three Hopes runs like the first game. I was already sold on Triangle Strategy, Kirby, and Advanced Wars Reboot Camp.
xenoblade 3! xenoblade 3! And it looks so good. Looks like both Melia and Nia might be our bad guys. Takahashi will get a very sternly worded letter if two of the more tragic characters in the series ends up dying by the end.
They definitely look like villains, but in every game they have blurred the line between heroes and villains. I won't go into detail, but I can see both of them being corrupted by outliving their loved ones by centuries.
Best direct in a long time for me. Watching the Force Unleashed I thought it looked exactly like I remembered it, and it does because it's the wii version, lol.
Great reaction as always! Although, if I could make one criticism: too often you guys all talk at the same time and I can't make out what is being said when you're discussing and talking at the same time (not talking about when you're yelling with joy!). Maybe fewer people during the stream...? But yeah, just my little two cents. ;)
Agreed. I am new to the channel and know most of the guys from GameXplain, but whoever the bottom 2 guys were, they didn't really add anything. They could have totally been cut. The top 4 are all that's needed IMO.
@@JBKiser Eh, I disagree. They talk and shine but with too many people, I think they can get pushed to the background. This isn't the right video to get introduced to them on. They have been on the podcast a lot recently and definitely talk. They can cover some games more in depth than the "top 4" as you call them can.
I'm gonna miss Jon from Nintendo Life but I like the energy here and all the guys look great. I hope with 6 people now, the channel can get game reviews out for all the new games and solidify as a major Chanel!
-an actually ambitious Kirby game for once. -Live a Live remake, any golden era Square RPG we can get is great -Baseball game making Sony an official 3rd party for Nintendo is a big deal -Translating and releasing officially Radical Dreamer is good game preservation -Switch Sports will give Switch a huge bump in sales
Great direct. Lots of games I'm hyped for. Fire Emblem Warriors 3 Hopes, Mario Strikers, Kirby and the Forgotten land, Klonoa, Earthbound 1&2, Mario Kart 8 DX DLC and Xenoblade Chronicles 3.
having played through about half of earthbound beginnings so far, most of the issues with it can be circumvented entirely by using the rewind and save-state features in the Nintendo Switch online service. for an NES game, it's outstanding.
Decent direct. Says a lot about Nintendo when they start the presentation with a Fire Emblem Warriors game and finish with a Xenoblade Game.2 relatively new IPs or at least IPs that did not used to be considered mainstream titles for them until recently.
Xenoblade is over a decade old now (and is part of the Xeno metaseries which has continuously grown since the ps1 days) and Fire emblems been out since the nes so I'd hardly call them new but I see your point
@@twincherries6698 like i said relatively new, pr not considered mainstream. Yes Xenoblade is a decade old, but still compered to Donkey Kong, Mario and Zelda, also, Fire Emblem was not considered mainstream until relatively recently despite how long it has been around.
Lets see I'm looking forward to free games: Disney Mario Kart, More MK courses (free on Expansion pass), Earthbound + Earthbound beginnings (NSO, SNSO) Paid games: Live A Live, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Kirby, Mario Strikers, Chrono Cross
The main highlights for me were Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes and Xenoblade Chronicles 3. Kirby and the Forgotten Land looks interesting, though. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC is quite the surprise. Mario Strikers: Battle League didn't do anything for me, but I'm happy for the people who wanted it.
I think Klonoa uses the Wii remake as a base, but with character designs closer to the PSX original. Klonoa 2 is definitely more of a straight remaster. I hope the costumes from Wii return, I liked Klonoa's Wii design. EDIT: Looking closely, the stage model for Vision 1 is identical to the Wii version, but given higher quality and more stylized textures.
Highlights for me were: 1) *Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series* -> Always wanted to play this series and I'm happy that it also releasing on all other platforms too. 2) *Mario Strikers: Battle League* -> As someone who enjoyed *Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions (PS4 version),* I'm very excited for this game in particular! *Low point* -> *Chrono Cross Remaster* which looks like a *lazy port/remaster* with *outdated visuals* tbh. Sorry, but I expected more from this as a "remaster". *Pass*
"You got the GVG no trailer upload guarantee." Yeah, I never understood why that channel keeps reuploading trailers. The trailers are gonna be uploaded by the company after the direct, naturally.
-Updates on everything that won't be out yet such as Bayo 3, Splatoon, Live A Live, Xenoblade 3, maybe Strikers, etc. -Focus on botw2 almost certainly -typical port / remaster sections -Possibly news on the Mario team, either news on Odyssey 2 or DK -Could conceivably see Metroid Prime news and a Prime 4 teaser Probably covers the majority of it.
So still no release date for Mario rabbids sparks of hope? That sucks. I guess that means sometime in the last half of the year it’ll come out. I heard about it in June last year, feels like two years already.
Yeah they did go over it a lot when someone asked about it, but the Japan direct did show like 5 more games not shown here, most I understand, and some do look pretty neat, but I do wonder why they did not show Chocobo GP showing off Cloud and Squall, also the Disney Kart has slightly longer as well but not by much. But yeah I can see why this was a great direct for many people, so much was shown off, while some is not for me, a lot does look cool, Disney kart looks good but its way too slow to be a fun kart racer for me, even if it is F2P
I hope 3 doesn't have xbc1's battle system. It's not bad but it gets boring eventually. 2 and torna's are great. Can't say about X though, never played it. Calling it right now, instead of overdrive, 3 is going to have Overtime, which can only be activated once per battle. Depending on the party members out and which primary weapon they are using upon activation, the buffs and length of Overtime can vary. It can be "leveled up" per say as new arts/modes for any (new) weapons become available. Managing your time/power used on your weapons before using the hypothetical overtime would be crucial and would encourage to use both sides or modes of the weapons depending on the fight. strange mio and noah's weapons don't seem to have two in one weapons or a noticeable secondary mode to them. I know there are other characters like that that don't have that going on either - namely the soldiers - but it's odd all the same.
I wouldn’t call it a bad direct but I definitely wasn’t impressed, imo it had way too many JRPGs, I understand I’m not the target audience I grew up with SEGA not Nintendo so I don’t particularly care for Splatoon, Earthbound or Xenoblade, also I thought Switch Sports looked disgustingly clean which part of the charm of Wii Sports was the simplic art design and Miis, this one does not look interesting to me. For my highlights were Kirby, Cuphead (both of which we already knew about) Klonoa and Mario Kart dlc, that’s it... I wouldn’t call it a disappointing event but I definitely was not impressed...
Sorry, but I’m having a hard time being excited for this Mario Kart DLC. I get why Nintendo has a greater incentive to keep supporting MK8D instead of making a new entry, but if they were gonna add content to this game, this was the lamest way they could have done it. It’s pretty deflating to find out that after nearly five whole years (eight if you go by the original’s release), this is all Nintendo has been working on and the series gonna is continue to remain stagnant for the foreseeable future.
I actually don't have a problem with this. They can't do much else to make a better game beside add stuff from the older games. They could add a few characters from past games and old items then it would be perfect.
Well, it really depends on what the Mario Kart devs were doing. Remember they made Arms, which came out in 2017 with DLC ending in 2018, which was years ago. Mario Kart Tour was developed by them an that released in 2020, which means it probably took them 2-3 years to make. Which means that this was probably in development for 1-2 years. Their next game could be in pre production, idk
@@kylewood4488-b9r They could've done a lot more. They could've added brand new tracks or at the very least have the returning ones match the visual quality of the base game. They could've added characters, karts, battle maps, and maybe even a new mode like Mission Mode.
I don't like that you have 6 people in the same stream. I can barely hear what anyone is hearing. Having a maximum of 3 people is the best way of balancing out the discussion and making sure that everyone is audible.
