Couldn't agree more! We live near Chicago but we just got back from a cross-country trip to Northern Idaho and they're having a ridiculous heat wave. 🥵 After watching Christy's video this morning I told my husband if we won the lottery I'd buy a 'summer' house in Adelaide so that we could always have fall and winter.☺

💚Hi Christy! 💚💛🧡💛💚I'm Australian and I was very much involved in the circus community here in Oz for over a decade (before chronic illness & disability took me out). I was a teacher/trainer in both youth and adult circus, a bit of performance but I preferred teaching, involved in training spaces, conventions, festivals, going to & supporting friends gigs/shows, being part of crew at events, and involved when I lived in the UK and travelled in Europe. It's such a vibrant scene that beautifully explores human potential, creativity, ideas and collaboration, and I met some of my closest friends through this wonderful community. A couple of my favourite Aussie circus companies/troupes are 'Circa' and 'Gravity & Other Myths'. I'm looking forward to see what you do with this next project.

Loved this. It was so helpful to see just how much planning, plotting and dreaming you do before you even start your novel. I’ve been contemplating writing a book for so long and finally just started this planning, plotting stage, but a recent course I attended made me panic that I’ve not thought of my central concept as I have a cool setting and characters but no central conflict at the moment and the course made me think perhaps I’m just not cut out for a novel length bit of writing! You’ve restored my faith!

This video warmed my heart so much! ✨ I make plots for theater plays, quite poetical, visually intriging and off beat. But now I'm struggling for 4 months to write a story around the visual scene I see so clearly in my head. I want to know who these people are, what happened and why this image touches my tears. I know this has to be a very special story, something for the people listning, a gift, something that connects every single member of the audience with eachother. But I still cannot find my way to it. I was scrolling youtube in search for some new things to learn, but nothing was touching me or making me feel something like I want to. Then I stubbled upon this video. It is so cozy and comforting, so calm and low-pressure, I love her smiling-eyes by the way. I felt some kind of home, it lighted my love for stories and imagining. I think because this video so chill. It is so magical to see people do what they love and talk about it with compassion and care. This video was what I needed, thank you for that 🌱 I'm going back to writing right away, and doing this with a gentle soft and slow heart. (:

Not sure how plausible this idea is but while I was watching one of your "writing like" videos the other day, I couldn't help wondering if you could do something like that where you review the pros and cons of different world building methods. (the snowflake method etc) as you use them to flesh out your new novel. Regardless lovely video as always. They provide so much tranquillity.

I started querying this year but because I'm only messaging two agents at a time, it's a slow process that is kind of driving me mad. Having a new book project is keeping me sane as well, partially because I can say "if the other one doesn't work right now, I have something else to query with." The circus is also such an interesting setting, so I can't wait to see what you do with it with project Spiegeltent. I recently saw two books in my country with a circus setting but they didn't really make much use of it. Your videos give me hope but also inspires me a bit to do something with a circus myself some time. There is so much one could do with it!

working on my sea of fate novel, but it's a prequel I'm working on since a lot of some people I know loved 2 asian siblings, i thought a prequel about them would help me to write them out once I got there, I originally put it on wattpad but my grammar was terrible back then so I'm just rewriting sea of fate (it's a pirate story, which has fantasy and romance) and it's prequel, Fate of the Lost. Love seeing you share insights about writing and your process so much! Maybe these tips can help with your vitamin absorption - feel free to ignore if you have a regimen that works for you and please always do your own research: -I try to get all my vitamins and minerals from my diet, but if I need to supplement/doctor prescribes something, I do the following... -caffeine and calicium inhibit iron absorption, so try to avoid tea/coffee/calcium-rich food and drinks for an hour before/after having your iron supplements. -vitamin C supports iron absorption so try to include a fresh source when you take it -taking supplements at the end of a large meal ¬may¬ affect how your body absorbs it, from personal experience I do better taking my supplements after a snack or halfway through a full meal -fats genrally help our bodies absorb vitamins and minerals (not all). My easy go-to is an apple with some nut butter and a handful of fresh berries, or some red peppers (capsicum) and hummus before my supplements -I personally do not respond as well to iron in pill form as I do to liquid supplements (specifically one with beet juice), not sure why but my body likes that most -mushrooms can absorb more vitamin D if you put them gills side up in sunshine; I leave mine on my windowsill while preparing my food -Take time to let yourself do nothing, it is okay if you need to reduce your workload slightly, your audience is not going anywhere :)

Ey, Iron Deficiency Squad! I discovered my iron deficiency/anemia about three months ago, and after consistent supplementing and diligent care I feel worlds better. Iron problems really cascade through your body and are so awful to deal with until you know what's wrong, so you have all my empathy. Also, these deficiencies might not even mean you've been doing anything wrong, there are just certain body compositions and modern diets that need a little extra help. Cheering for you!

Sometimes people have metabolisms or conditions that make the body have a hard time absorbing vitamin D- might be worth looking into! 8:30 I have to thank you so much for sharing this because my health has been poor and quickly declining recently and watching this prompted me to check for symptoms of iron deficiency (I have almost all of them) and so I checked my blood levels in labs I had done a couple of months ago, and it turns out I’m low in iron and possibly even anemic. I don’t think I would have thought to even talk to my doctor or check my levels unless I watched this video. I had my Ferritin checked the other day and it’s at 11, which is pretty dang low. I see my doctor again this week to talk more about it and get my labs checked again. Anyway, thank you so much for sharing about your health, it quite literally could have saved me from continuing to suffer ❤

@christy-anne-jones Месяц назад
You poor thing! My ferritin was that low a few years ago and it's the absolute worst. I'm so glad you got it checked. I will also say, with ferritin that low it can somtimes be difficult to absorb iron from iron tablets (I took them for a whole year and only got my feritin from 11 up to 13). I might just be just be bad at absorbing iron, but what really really helped me was an iron infusion! Best of luck with it and I hope you get your levels sorted soon 💛💛

I think writing is a daunting task let alone writing a novel. I'm an UX/UI designer and writing is an important activity as I can document observations/process. The process is similar to a fantasy novel - I can't describe all the details in plain words. Also I have used Milanote for brainstorming ideas as a UX/UI designer. It's a good alternative to figjam.

I’m not sure you really covered how you plot and research a fantasy novel other than going to the library, I suppose I was expecting something different! I thought it would be more of a run through of where you start, then categorise your research, including things like mythology, bestiary, characters, dwellings, chapter formatting, chapter length, overarching theme, subplots etc

It is summer in the Global North, especially in the Mediterranean countries, because in the region of the tropical climate, boring makes summer terrible. I traveled for a vacation a few days ago from Cairo to Riyadh, I was nervous because this trip came suddenly and because I faced a lot before traveling, I suddenly stopped writing a month before the trip because I was tired. Even during and after the trip I still. I think the last time I wrote was on Friday 14/6. I wrote a lot at the time, maybe I knew I would stop afterwards. I don't know? Only now I decided to take a longer vacation until the end of July. I think once August starts the night will have at least some cold breezes, and maybe the cooling devices here will help ease the summer burden. I miss the autumn and winter atmosphere! Last year I wrote well in the last five months, and I hope to do the same this year given that I am not satisfied with my performance in the last seven months. Since the beginning of the year, I started a job but I continue to obstruct it. The more I thought I was going to get past the only problem I would face, the more I bumped into another. I love this novel so much, but working on it is difficult, imagination and brainstorming about it was much more fun than re-reading the chapters I wrote and feeling that it was worse than ecstasy (I don't know if it's the right word to describe the feeling of happiness that makes you write passionately? English is not my first language) that I felt as I wrote or during the storm. So I think it's time to develop my Arabic language! Unfortunately, I don't master it well, even though it's my mother 😅 tongue. I think rhetoric is probably the problem, and that I prefer novels from English, French and Latin literature and Russian novels Arabic and Arabic poetry,. I try to love my mother tongue more, although the events of my novels do not help because they talk about the nature of London in the fifties of the nineteenth 😒 century, but I do my best! A greeting to every writer who is still working on himself to develop his story, overcome the failure and frustration that afflicted him after publishing houses refused to print his novels, and continue to pursue his dream of becoming a full-time writer! 🫡👏

It's great that you live in Australia, as they have a very dynamic dinghy/small sailboat culture. I would suggest you befriend someone with a boat & go sailing for a couple of weeks. No laptop, no phone. Bring a notebook & a pen, but do not write. Just draw. I don't know if you do draw, but if not, this will force your mind to make a shift into different areas of perception & expression. Give your mind time to remember what actual quietude is. Listen to the boat in the water, the wind in the sails, the cries of the birds. Let it soak in. Be still without any expectations or desires other than enjoying the day float by. If you're one of those people who must be doing something all the time, then ask yourself: Why is that? As far as research goes, I am completely against it when it comes to fantasy books. There are no rules, this is your world, so why contaminate your ideas with how it was done in our past? As far as your deficiencies are concerned, I would suggest listening to Dizzy Gillespie's Bebop classic Hey, Pete! Let's Eat More Meat (didliodo). I wish you well & good luck

You also eat olives, sardines, sea food, things that are salty, or have minerals in them.

As long as you menstruate it is very possible that you will need constantly iron supplements - the same in regards for Vitamin D, it is so much easier to just constantly take it, as most peeople do not get enough sun and suncream prohibits the building of Vitamin D. Also: It is very worth it to also check out Vitamin B12 and Omega 3 and Magnesium (which is super important if you are very active), as these are also commenly low and very much connected to the symptoms you talk about. If you do not want to take Vitamins constantly then I would start to take them again as soon as you feel burned out/tired. Also: iron should always be taken with Vitamin C - maybe your doctor told you, but a lot do not know. :) I hope you get better soon - I love love love watching your videos!

Hi! Some of the deficiencies you mentioned are also things that hydrate our bodies. Be sure to drink water with a tiny pinch of Himalayan sea salt in between tea pots. Dehydration also makes us feel tired, pain, achy, headaches, blurry vision, foggy, etc. Push electrolytes every day for a couple of weeks along with extra sleep. I recently went through a major health issue and was drinking huge amounts of water all day, and it further depleted the minerals and electrolytes in my body. Find a really good electrolyte powder (NOT Gatorade, actually a terrible electrolyte but better than nothing. I don't know what's available in Australia.) I can send links but the products are from the states. You want to look for calcium, magnesium, vitamins A, D, C, potassium. These are in proper electrolytes. Pink Himalayan sea salt will help until you can get something better. Good luck & I will pray for your good health. ❤ I love your cozy content. 📚

Hi! I’m a bit new here - wondering if you’ve made videos where you talk more about finding the voice for the story? 🤍 Also - another iron and vitamin d deficient girly here. The constant tiredness can be quite frustrating 😢

I never comment on RU-vid videos, but I work as a director/writer in the independent theatre scene in Melbourne and have friends who are circus performers and cabaret artists. If you're interested in speaking to people, I may be able to help!

Not sure if it would be helpful, but you should read the Road to Gundagai by Jackie French. It's about a travelling carnival/circus in Australia in the 1930s! Might be inspiring :)

Quick thing about Millanote, it is free, but only free up to about 100 items, and each image, to-do list, title card, etc count as items. If you wish to exceed that, you'll have to sign up for a subscription fee. If you have a ton of ideas, characters, worldbuilding, etc that you want to organize completely for free, notion is a decent substitute. You can do almost everything without paying and there's no limit on boards or links or what have you.
