Also: you can get far more done in small bursts - so naps are important self-care, and will fuel your progress while helping your body deal with the exertion. You are On Your Way!

I agree, but personally, I also needed to slow down in life. I gave up, volunteering, and have eliminated actiivities other than walking my little dog, or cycling. I discoved that being distracted by too much business is not productive. Speaking of dumpsters, they are shockingly expensive to hire. I counted a total of eleven at one family member's home. They had lived in the same house for more than sixty years. People in the UK who lived through two World Wars did not part with anything they considered to be useful and/or of value. For instance they used parts from one lawn mower to repair another, nothing was ever wasted. I work on sorting something every day, without pushing myself to do as much as possible, or keep to a time schedule. I am thankful to be able to work without pressure from anyone.

Thank you! It isn't easy nor will it be smooth going but I believe that as long as my hubby and I stop periodically and talk and readjust our plan we will get through this with minimal bumps, bruises and long term hard feelings! So far, so good!

After dealing with sorting possessions of five family members who all died within eighteen months I can certainly sympathize with what you are doing. I am now sorting boxes of items I had shipped from the UK, for the last couple of years, I did not have the physical, emotional or mental abilty to handle the job due to serious medical issues. Recently, I started sorting. Progress is being made, albeit slowly, and I am exhausted lifting heavy items without help, Social Security doesn't make paying someone feasible, it is what it is. My goal is to have a clean and tidy and simplified home. You are doing a great job!

I'm so sorry for all your losses! You are in my prayers. Yes it is exhausting sorting things and feeling emotions you thought were long gone. Decision fatigue is a real thing and I hit that the other day. But we must persevere because the alternatives are worse. My hubs and I have decided that we have lived long enough with tons of stuff. I kept somethings that are now in storage that I wish I had just donated, BUT!, I will look forward to selling them when we buy our new house. 😉
