I have a tip for You, Screw the leveling pads to your 6+6, The rails will need to be check ever so often and keep all your blades, when they get dull, in time you will want to sharpen them. (put then in used oil) You will have lots of fun and it will be hard work, but enjoyable work. I have had a mill for 14 years. I will say no more, Been keeping a eye on you two for years.

As a retired Alaska logger I think this video is one of my favorites. I never worked in a sawmill really, only in the woods as a riggingman and a couple years as a timberfaller. The most dangerous jobs in the United states by far. The second most, construction, is a about half as dangerous. I started as a teenager and transferred to a short line logging railroad at 42, as you get to where you just can't do it anymore. A young man's game for sure. So this comment is about safety. It's not really about priority, it's about ATTITUDE. I was big on it as during my logging career I witnessed many injuries. From daily first blood, (owies) to horrific ones. That made the rest of the crew first responders. And professional help was hours away by medevac. I made sure I always had an updated first aid, CPR card. They expire after 3 or 4 years but that wasn't enough. So I took it seriously and took the class every chance I got. Once or twice a year. Some classes are way better than others. I always encouraged my crew to do the same. Heck, I encourage everyone to. Situational awareness is vital. So if l may, suggest you make a mention of your 1st aid kits, contents and why you chose them. My personal kits are what I put together myself based on my experiences and the situation. Lots of gauze, medical tape, Kwick Clot, etc, even a cotex in my tin hat when I was a logger (I think you can figure out why) Thanks for reading this and, stay safe!

Why not? There are so many useable dead trees available. Getting a mill makes total sense. You two have made such good practical decisions with your generator, your 6x6, your snowmobiles, your boat, your high tunnel green house, and so on. The days are so short in the wanter you have more time to think, talk, research and plan. You have such long days in the summer, you can just get it done. It is a nice natural rhythm. Getting stuff done makes the fishing and hunting trips more satisfying. The fishing trips make getting things done more satisfying. Thanks for sharing your thought processes with us. It is really helpful.... Also, you can save money and use the sawdust in the chicken coop and then compost it and put it in the garden. Win. Win. Win. The bark can be laid down in walk ways. Anything else can be burned to keep the house warm. There are no negatives.

My husband and i fight when assembling IKEA furniture. A saw mill would result in divorce. 🤣. Can’t wait to see all of your builds!

I've seen so many people make a similar comment on this video. When men are in 'work' mode (putting stuff together), the part of their brain that gets along with women is shut off completely. Don't take it personally, they're temporarily a cave man battling against a wild beast. If you distract them during that battle, they'll push you away until victory is secured. It's absolutely not personal -- it's hardwired. If you really need to have their attention for a minute, ask them to step into the next room and let them mentally switch modes before you do your thing.

Really proud of you guys for making this decision! With all the standing dead timber you have access to, you'll have no problem milling enough wood to build a cabin on your other acreage. Plenty to add on to YOUR cabin too! And the drying time on the beetle killed lumber should be less. BRAVO!

Yes. And I think the 1st wanagan added on to their cabin should be a larder.

Another awesome video of enthusiastic co-operation and determination. The new sawmill certainly beats the effort and time that the chainsaw took. A great investment !
