I think you can say this is an upgrade over the FX8350. The instructions per cycle is higher on the intel chip. I have both the FX8350 as well as an i7 4790 in two systems both with 1600Mhz DDR3 and the intel is most often faster than the FX8350 especially with single core tasks. But the FX8350 is quite a useful chip still.
We use Exacqvision at work for monitoring safety near machinery. You can download the client for free from Tyco. The config files for the client get saved in the root of the user profile as edvrclient.ini. It will talk to pretty much any brand of network video camera. Some of their servers are custom assembled but mostly of generic parts. Some of the newer ones are based on a Dell R series server.
The FX 8350 is definitely an overclocking chip and you can get 20-30% performance increase in some cases. Not sure if that would yield any performance in a server task though...
Only 584 for the FX? My FX8300 @ 4.5GHz gets 732 points in R15. But yeah, still a pretty neat upgrade in regards to single-threaded tasks, though almost everything I run these days is heavily mutli-threaded.
Not bad, but i feel 8350 results should be better in Cinebench. My Phenom II x6@3500Mhz has 500 points, and 8350 has plus 2 cores. On the other hand, 8350 FPU's are shared among 2 cores in each module, only 4 full precision FPU's are available. Saying that, highly computational task (rendering) is not what server usually does (like serving backend code and executing database scripts), so i believe that in real server operations, 8350 would be at very least just as good as Intel.
In the near future I will be acquiring a Dell Poweredge T420 server box with dual Xeon 2011's, 32GB of ram. From what I saw, the motherboard looked to be a EATX form factor though actual inspection will tell if it just uses a standard PSU or if it is proprietary, but that is another box that may become my next editing box instead. In any case, I got a lot of re-purposing of equipment to do :)
@@WaybackTECH Ok, just forgot to mention: if fans are connected via 4-pin connectors to the mobo, they can be controlled through speedfan software. In some cases, speedfan can control even 3-pin fan connectors if MB implements resistance regulation on it.
Just curious. I just recently came by your channel. I like it. Is there any way to get a hold of you and ask some questions and some advice? I had some trouble shooting and repair way back in the day about 30 years go or so. I am very rusty on it. I am working on a Pioneer vsx-516 receiver that is not powering on. I was just trying to see if there was a way to send you what I have tried and get some feedback on where I should go. I can read the service manual and the diagrams in it. I am just unsure of where and what to test been way to long. Anyways. Any help would be appreciated. If you don't mind. Thanks for your time.
