Automatic don’t really require any adjustment, you just notice “oh,it’s less work now!”. I found them also easier with hill starts.

I live in the US but drove manual transmission for about 10 years when I first started driving. I finally bought an automatic after that. I’d never go back. I can still drive one because my partner has one & we rented one in Europe a few years ago, but automatic is so much easier.

I like nearly anything take-away-chinese/pizza/KFC etc etc but i did have fish and chips from a chip shop in York complete with newspaper cone and malt vinegar and mushy peas and walking back to my B&B had every neighborhood cat following behind me!

I started learning to drive in a manual but swapped to automatic before my test due to disability. When I first started driving auto I wasn’t quite sure what to do with my left foot 😂 Biggest challenge here in the UK is finding a suitable automatic because there aren’t many to choose from. My son did all his lessons and test in a manual and driving practice in my auto so he was constantly switching between - so proud when he passed on his first attempt. Try tucking your left foot back and away from the pedal - good luck, enjoy your new car.

I was born and raised in New England and have been to England, and the fish and chips are almost identical. Haddock is the way to go.

Do check the cabin bag measurements before you leave. Some carriers, including RA, have been quietly reducing the allowed sizes. 😮

We spent the day on The Rock-of Gilbralter and had British fish and chips! They were delicious!

I learned to drive with a stick shift car, and it was rather tricky to manuver. Later, when I tried an automatic I couldn't believe how much easier it was. You will LOVE it!

Always driven manuals for over 20 years tried a Automatic and it’s more relaxing, particularly in traffic (which is most places these days) I find parking is a little slower but still fine. It’s better for your knees/ankles as not having to clutch all the time, not maybe something that will cause you issue at your age!

The ninth deck is not exactly stowage. It will be some good sleeping in the interior cabin.

I had my TV that is not a flat screen for nearly 20 years. I can't imagine having a TV for only 5 years.

I’m so sorry I missed the live, I agree with you because people don’t spend a lot of time in their cabin mainly to sleep since I’ve never been on a cruise I can’t wait to hear your opinion. Either way y’all will have a fantastic time ❤️

In the US, it feels difficult to buy a stick shift car. I bought my manual Mini Cooper in 2013. I just googled: There are only 28 manual models here for 2024. That includes the Lotus Emira, which hardly counts. I don't ever expect to even see one. (Also, about 10? models have a paddle shifter option. Pfft to that, I say. How is that any fun.) The death of the stick shift has been predicted here for at least 10 years, so I was surprised there were still 28 models. (17 brands) My dad taught driver's ed on the side at the high school. Once I had to borrow his automatic while my car was in the shop. I had to call him from the gas station, all panicky: Dad! Dad! I stopped to get gas. How do I make it start? lol He talked me right through it, but don't feel silly about how it is supposed to be easier. It's enough different to take some relearning.

We had a good fish and chips in Bray, Ireland. It was battered cod and was splendid. Maybe it’s similar to British fish and chips?

I only ever travel with a carry on and a bag that fits under the seat. There's always laundry facilities somewhere. I used to work in a fish and chip shop in Ontario Canada and our manager made her Nova Scotia Gramma's mushy peas recipe. We would put mushy peas on a large coleslaw lid and freeze it. Then we would dip it in the fish batter and deep fry it. So good!! I miss those mushy patties😢

Do alot of relaxing holidays now, because once a little one is with you, it’s nice, don’t get me wrong, but totally Different! 😅

A Skoda? Did you ask what was wrong with it? I lived in Central Europe and Skodas were considered to be a jokey car-sort of like but not quite as bad as the East German Trabant. I have no clue about manual transmissions-tried to learn once and we just did not get along. I much prefer automatic-so easy.

I’ve heard great things about Virgin cruises from two friends who are travel agents. They say it’s the best in the industry. Have you been to the Mediterranean area before? We were just in Nice and several other cities in S France, just returned in mid-April. I would especially like your report on Cannes, didn’t make it there!

l am getting new car too my old car was peugoet 307 and but new is peugoet 208

Got to have battered cod,chips extra large mushy peas and lashings of of gravy with regular coca cola to drink. When my daughter and I were looking at universities a couple of years ago a girl who was showing us round one came from the south of England and she said that she had never heard of🐟&chips&mushy peas and gravy untill she came to a northern university and I was shocked that🐟,chips,mushy peas and gravy wasn't a universal thing. I so want to go on a cruise and actually booked one and was so excited to go and then found out I was pregnant and when the cruise had been booked for I discovered that I would be to far along in the pregnancy to be allowed to fly. Gutted couldn't come close to how I felt at missing it. There's a Victoria in Australia too. I get my new car in October and can't wait. I will be carless from the 10th of August as my MOT expires and I don't want to pay for an MOT and an oil change and any repairs that may be needed and my daughter is away for a week in September so can use her car if needed. I'm getting an automatic and I know it will take me a while to get used to it as it took me a while to get used to driving a stick shift when I changed cars last time which✋🏼was around6years ago.

We rarely have chip shop but if we do my son has a jumbo sausage & Chips and my husband has steak & kidney pie with chips and curry sauce or he has fish, chips & curry sauce. I’m vegetarian so don’t have anything from the chip shop. Xx

I’ve driven standard and automatic and prefer the automatic, however my car can change to standard, however I haven’t done that yet because I’m not sure how to do that 😊

Are most cars in the UK manual shift? Here in America most cars are now automatic. I don't think even kids learning to drive here only learn to drive automatic. I learned to drive both. I love the manual ( or stick shift as it referred to in the US. But fewer and fewer cars in America are manual produced. They're all automatic. But you'll pick up driving automatic in no time at all. It's pretty straightforward. Have fun!

My take away is Kentucky Fried chicken.

Can you use our car as a trade in? The dealer pays a certain amount for you old car and puts it towards the price of the new car.

I saw Camilla dripping in all those diamonds. It's a wonder she could hold her head up. 😊 Everybody drives automatic in North America, and I have heard the down in the USA, in California it is against the law to drive a standard. Everybody drives bumper to bumper and someone driving a stick often moves backward just a bit when putting it in gear and Americans smash into them. I haven't had a stick here in Canada since we moved to the coast. Too many streets with steep inclines. Hard to drive and park.

What happened to the whole global warming comments, another cruise, another car 😂. I worked for the UKs biggest used car dealer, don't believe the sob stories. Its always one previous owner only used it for Church on a Sunday. Fish and Chips outside the UK, or even in a pub aint the same.
