You did not even mention that Eindhoven is well known for: 1. The technical university (like the one in Delft) and has a big technical campus with a huge amount of brainpower. 2. Is also know as the city of light because it used to be the home of Philips before it moved the head office to Amsterdam.

What ? I was born and brought up in Eindhoven and still visit my 97 year old mother there. It was a quint town with nice 19th century streets and buildings until 1950. Then modernization kicked in and the city council decided to demolish half the city and have it make way for cars. Now a bland city without character and straight forward suburbs. Very green though and good to bring up kids. Thanks for giving it attention.

@@josphineogugua Yes I do enjoy it definitely! However, de Genneper Parken on 500 meter distance are definitely even more beautiful and nature like. They also have the "Prehistorisch Dorp", which means " Prehostoric Village". It is like an outdoor museum where actors act as if they live in the Middle Ages or in other era's before that. Especially with a child this is great to visit in spring or summer! You can even book a few nights as a family or individuals to "live as a middle ager or a prehistoric person".

I'm from the Eindhoven area and I think it's one of the ugliest cities in the country hahah. I don't know what you see that I don't. It's a nice city for shopping though! Did you notice the skeletons at the st. catherins church underneath the glass? Sometimes the glass gets too fogged up to see, but there's some skeletons you can see there from people who where burried there a long long time ago. There is also another church near the stadium that's built in a very different style and material to most dutch churches. If you ever happen to be back there I would reccomend going there! Otherwise I don't think it's a beautiful city at all.
@josphineogugua
@josphineogugua 2 года назад
Hi hi.. Thank you for your honesty🤣. I don't think Eindhoven is ugly at all... I like the blend of architecture. At the city center you can see some more modern structures. When you move a bit away you find a few mediaeval structures. Then the wall arts in Eindhoven are unique and beautiful. I did enjoy my trip to be honest and I definitely want to come back. I do think when we are from a city, we tend to get so used to it that it stops being anything special. But for me, I did like my time there🤗
@r.v.b.4153

@@josphineogugua "When you move a bit away you find a few medieval structures" Two in total, but both outside of the centre. There are no medieval buildings left to see within the medieval city centre. Directly adjacent to the old centre is Hotel Mariënhage (former monastery), which has a few walls from the Middle Ages. You cannot easily see them without entering the property. 1.7 km outside of the city centre, there is a medieval church tower from the former village of Woensel, which is known as the "Oude Toren" (Old Tower). Regarding a few things below ground/in houses; -Within the cycling garage (fietsenstalling) on the 18 September Square are the foundations of the former medieval city gate. -Below some glass plates in front of the Sint-Catharinakerk are remnants of the cemetery and rear end of the medieval church. -The city centre does not have any known medieval constructions, but it is possible they have not yet been discovered and are still hidden within houses. One house demolished in 2001 had medieval constructions/ materials. It for example had wood from the 14th century in the roof construction. Hard to believe they demolished it. Regarding later buildings; -Constructions from the 16th and 17th centuries are known. These are hidden behind more modern facades, only concern sections of bigger buildings/houses or are outside of the city centre (e.g. old farmsteads). The oldest front facade in the centre is part of a bar called the "The Little One" in the Jan van Lieshoutstraat 26. It is from 1711 (maybe older).

@@r.v.b.4153 Goede historische kennis!

@r.v.b.4153 2 года назад
Lijkt me een vroeg 19e-eeuws pand.

I'm from the Eindhoven area and I have to agree it's not a nice looking city at all. It's a nice city for shopping though, since it's all in one bike and car free area for the most part. Like others said, a lot got destroyed during ww2 and was never rebuild.
@r.v.b.4153
@r.v.b.4153 2 года назад
Most were demolished. Some also destroyed after bombardments, but that's a poor excuse for the large-scaled demolition drift before and after the war. Closest to a medieval building you'll find is adjacent to the centre; the former monastery Mariënhage. It has some medieval walls, but these can only be seen from a distance without entering the property. I love the church of the former monastery (Jesus statue on top of the spire), but it is quite modern (like the video). There is a medieval church tower a bit outside of the centre as well. I can make a nice list of buildings with constructions dating to the 16th and 17th centuries, but you cannot see a lot of it from the outside. An old house is often hidden behind a modern facade (19th/20th century). There are some buildings outside of the centre with authentic 16th and 17th century exteriors. Some of these are quite nice. Oldest front facade (interior construction authentic as well) is bar "The Little One" (supposedly from 1711, but probably older). It is a very cute small house. There are also other monuments from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries within the city centre. This doesn't make it very exciting from a European perspective. A village/small town 14 km outside of Eindhoven has many old monuments. Much more than big old Eindhoven.
@r.v.b.4153
@r.v.b.4153 2 года назад
@@ST-vt4nu Aside of shopping, I would also say it's fun for the nightlife in Stratumseind. Some front facades/buildings are still relatively old, distinct and decorated, which is aesthetically pleasing. The bars/pubs are also concentrated in this area (I think the biggest concentration in the country), so it's a very vivid place. This means it can also be way too busy x).

Do some homework? Stopped watching when the street name was misidentified as the name of the park. I have not yet been, but I know about Stadswandelpark! This must be a reason tourists are not always welcome. It’s fine if you want to blumder around but what makes you think you are qualified to show the rest of us your vacation videos?
