What a awesome part to get sponsored. Looks great Jason. I may have to install one myself can never be too safe. Fire is definitely one of the scariest parts of racing.
Love the vids. I have just one thing to note, coming from my wife, a fire fighter, you DO NOT want the nozzle directly at your body. You want to the PUSH the fire away from you.
@@DIRTRACELIFE Yeah, I don't either to be honest. I had the same struggles with mine. Everything requires a compromise so the best you can do is mitigate the risks the best you can. Love the show, see ya at the track!
Firebottles required in nj as of last year. Think that manual pull cable should be mounted to the left of the driver and clearly marked in case of a serious accident track officials can reach and activate. Just my .02
I ended up with that spot after looking at how the whole dash was fiberglass and was removable. I went with that spot thinking I wanted it to still be easily accessible by me and also visible and accessible to anyone standing at the car as well.
Your comment isn’t very smart! Apparently you haven’t mounted very many suppression systems in race cars. It’s centrally located, no kinks in the tubing or the hose and the pull cable isn’t bound up or binding. Only thing I think would have done differently is the mounting location of the pull cable.( more out in front of you visible and easily reachable while you’re strapped in) Unless Jason can easily access it with being strapped in helmet and fire suit on. Then it’s perfectly fine!
Hey Tim, I did climb in and make sure that spot was out in front of my right arm where I can just naturally reach across and grab it with the left but also went up that high so I can grab it with my right hand as well. The reason I didn't go in the dash was because of it being a fiberglass Dash I am planning to make removable with all the electronics in it. I would have had to do something permanent and rigid to run that cable through it. But in hindsight I should have covered that as well in the video because the most practical spot would be right out in front of one of your hands and making it removable is what drove that change.
@@DIRTRACELIFE As long as it works for you that’s what matters! I figured that you thought it through! I didn’t even think about you having a fiberglass dash in it.
After reviewing the information from FireBottle it was the best location for this build but I agree each racer should make sure they install theirs in the best location for their car.
I think camera angle is probably very misleading in this regard making it look very close when in reality it is significantly different in location. I run safety hoops as well on both ends and it is not at all able to get to this fire system.
