Wow Jeanette your studio is like a little factory, can't wait to see what the test tiles are like. I am the same with experimenting I said on my latest kiln opening that I am treating the whole thing like playing and experimenting as that makes me happy. I hope to one day try making glazes but it looks pretty labour intensive and you know me I have very little energy so hopefully when I find some I can have a play 🙏 I was wondering shout your mystery chips do you need to add some cmc gum so they don't turn to powder? I'm sure the gum is one of the differences between dipping and brushing? But just random thoughts I know nothing😂❤

I was taught to use the immersion blender before the sieve. I also use both 80 and 120 mesh sieves. Jif is a peanut butter in the US and the jars I get hold 1.33 kg so they hold a lot of glaze. I only ever put one glaze recipe in a jar so if it gets scratched, which I haven’t had happen, it won’t contaminate another glaze (probably because my immersion blender has a hat around the blades). I’ve also used glass canning jars. From the video, I think you’ll get good results. I’m really looking forward to seeing the results. I’m curious if you’re testing Joe’s pink glaze. I keep meaning to try it with a substitute Mason stain because I can’t get the Mason stain he used. I use 100 gram beakers from Amazon to measure the specific gravity - much cheaper than a hydrometer. Thanks for making the video!

Oh my gosh girl!! That looks like a lot! Cant wait to see!! Sieving so many glazes drives me absolutely craaazy!! Having to clean the sieve so very well after each glaze is so tedious!! I’m worried that using the bin to rinse things in will contaminate the sieve? Hope that didn’t happen. Just a thought. I have used an immersion blender for many things and it scraped the insides of plastic things and I had small pieces of plastic in things! But honestly I don’t think anything would get trapped in the little scratches especially if the containers are cleaned and you stir the glaze each time, of course. I know that when I reconstitute glazes you need to use bottled water so your water that has chlorine and fluoride etc doesn’t react with the glazes. I’ve also found if I use tap water my glazes will grow mold in them! I’m sure it will be fine but I’d suggest using bottled water for good consistency. I am absolutely amazed at how much sediment my brush water has in it! I let my brush water sit overnight and pour off the water and save all of the glaze! I have 2 big spaghetti sauce jars full of this stuff!! I don’t want to just mix it all together and see what color glaze it makes so I’d love to see if I could make glaze chips with it!! The only problem is that the glaze turns into a powder once you let it sit and collect. I’m not sure if I need to use a clear glaze to suspend the glaze in or what. I’d definitely use a double bowl to clean things off in. Starting is the absolute hardest part! It gets easier after that. Not to say you won’t have struggles but it’s always the hardest to just start. That goes for everyday life stuff I believe. I would definitely use witness cones on each shelf when you fire these test tiles. Then you can tell what each shelf got to and if one shelf is hotter or cooler. You could make a few test tiles in several glazes and put a test tile of each on each shelf and see what the differences are. I mean do this with just a few glazes and see if there are any differences. I think using the witness cones will really help.
