As someone who's been doing art for over a decade you, yes you, should not fall into the "tracing is illegal" crud. If you post it online give credit but tracing is hella useful! I've only recently got outta that and I can say with full honestly that my art has gotten better. For example, I like to trace an image if I'm stuck on something, slide the traced line art off the og image and reference the traced image because it's much simpler to look at and you can get a feeling for whatever it if your referencing! Doing art is a feeling not just emotionally or mentally but physically your hand needs to know what it's supposed to feel and eventually it'll just do it on its own. You gotta use all the tools out there. Don't be afraid to experiment with things and don't fall for second best. Ai isn't the solution, it can be the help but it shouldn't be the end result. Where's the fun in creating if your taking from someone else? Also love the hair man I got the same cut lol.

Tracing is really a major issue for those who go off about being original while profiting off of it. that's always the issue, people who make money off of their art and deliberately copy/trace others works for their own. it is good however to get an artist into the field. muscle memory is an important factor for art, especially with something like anatomy. sure, while digital art has it's software to make drawing a circle easy, that can only get one so far. AI of course isn't the solution, it never was. it is, and should better be considered as another tool. sometimes what AI generates is actually helpful for artists to look at and draw in their own way, and that's fine. some people just want a shortcut to success tho, and that's the problem. and thanks.

as an artist who cant record her process as the program i use always corrupts the saves i hate that speed paints seem to be the only way to prove your innocence fro art. not everyone uses obs and insta records their process some people just draw

I've posted timelapses and speedpaints and still have gotten the ai art comment. Recording it isn't the only solution, as screenshots during sessions of a project are good evidence. While ai art can attempt this, it's not going to be the same compared to an artist who captures their work. There are free to use softwares available (such as autodesk sketchbook) that come with their own recording software, and for mobile, there are applications available to install a screen recorder if needed. While technology genuinely sucks at times, it is a giant trial and error game.

that twitter post is total bs... their "how to spot" is literaly wrong.. they forgot that artists are different.. some draw without sketch, some suck at coloring others suck at lineart.. maybe someone had hands problems... doesnt mean they trace lmao... also not all tracing is bad or wrong. tracing non copyrighted stuff like shape poses is prefecly legal and doesnt require announcemnt. what makes art yours is your own style.. not if u can draw a pose or a tree XDDD no one had problem when comic artists do it to save time but ppl rage over some unknown online artists its so funny
