You know why you're so good? Because you can tell you have heart. You are honest with your reactions. Keep doing what you're doing. Maybe do a monthly or bi-weekly Dom and Mom show where your mom has you sit and react to her favorite music. Like a guest show.

DomDolla 219 Well, I've gotta tell you - you're the first person who's ever asked me that, Dom! Motown was a record label, a sound, a phenomenon. It was The Temptations, The Supremes, Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder, The Jackson 5, Gladys Knight, Marvin Gaye. It was all of us, united through music ❤️ www.motownmuseum.org/story/motown/

In this case my suggestion would be to ask everyone to suggest a song for potluck Friday and for everyone to vote on the songs and whichever has the top votes should be the ones that you react to on that day... a mix of songs = potluck 😊

I think it's fantastic you want to talk to people who make a song suggestion. What about movie Mondays? You could do a movie theme song. If you talk to the person who suggested the song, I bet they have a great story behind it. I've noticed that most of the songs people request mean something to them and it's awesome you want to tap intu that.

@TheforgottengospelofChrist
@TheforgottengospelofChrist 4 года назад
If you really want to connect, maybe once every two weeks or a month, you pick a song that stopped you in your tracks and took you to the deepest level of thought. Example... I was in Payless shoe store and over their radio I herd PM Dawn “set a drift on memory bliss” I stopped in my tracks and sat there and listened to the entire song because I was in love with someone who didn’t love me back. In that moment I connected with the words of the song so deeply that I still remember that moment from 25 or maybe 30 years ago (I’m old I don’t remember lol) I remember like it was yesterday. It took me a week to find out who that was and the name of the song but I searched for it as if my life depended on it. We didn’t have “Shazam” back then 😂... So tell us those songs that transform you, that made you see life, love, family, friends, differently. What song do you listen to when you need a pick me up. I think so many people make theses videos and subscribers like the author of the channel, but the subscribers want to know more about the person they watch on a deeper level. I like watching your reactions, but lots of people do reactions. I think subscribers watch these channels because “they love music and they are deeply touched by songs” so we like to see how music touches others. Every now and then give your subscribers more than a reaction, give them the songs that stopped you in your tracks and tell us why. What was happening in your life when you herd the song and how did it carve its memory forever in your emotions. I love that stuff.

I would like to see "Dom and Mom" reactions. I also like the idea of talking to the person about the song they requested - music and songs can have special meaning to people. They might also have interesting stories to tell (example: I played Xbox with Maroon 5 once and I am not a good player). I saw some good suggestions too - Motown Monday, One Hit Wonders. you could do decades 50's, 60's etc You are very funny and expressive - you have a unique style and personality. I really enjoy your vlogs. I like how you and your brothers interact with each other. Like the time Fred wore you out so Tim could beat you in basketball... What are you passionate about? What do you like? Show us some of that. You could do more first times on other things you have never done - be creative. You will find your niche

Yes, I appreciate what you're saying. I'm glad you want to grow. I respect that. Aaand I also think you can teach us. Show us what's going on. Meantime, I have another suggestion. You're wanting to go deeper. Why don't you explore the music of New Orleans? In the history of music in America, New Orleans brought so much. It was a port with goods and people and music coming from the Caribbean and Africa and France and the Native American influence. Quite an artistic melting pot. And this port was the mouth of the Mississippi, bringing foods and music and language and arts from the middle of the country. Quite a thing. Look into that. Look at Louis Armstrong and Alan Toussaint and Dr. John and Fats Domino and Jellyroll Morton and the Neville Brothers and Sidney Bechet and the Meters. Yeah. We're behind you.

Being that 9/11 is coming up I think it would be very interesting to do a show talking about songs specifically written bc of tragedy. Yay! Let’s have Mama on the show. Another Idea is to have a music vocabulary segment...where we all learn music terms so we can describe music more clearly. I find myself saying “this is an amazing song” all of the time...but I’d love to learn a few music terms so I can pinpoint exactly what musical components I like about the song. It’d be fun to learn 3 new terms a week, or something like that. It’s just a thought. Love and hugs to you.🥰😎

Yes! To pretty much all of it.... reacting with your mom, we already know women on Wednesday’s is gold, talking to subscribers is an idea I haven’t seen someone else do yet - it could let us see why the song was requested and give you more understanding to songs that leave you with questions. But the reasons might affect your reactions for some songs and I think this should stay pure, but maybe you talk after you’ve listened? Like Follow up Fridays we get peeks of those conversations 🤔 you could also do decades weeks.... 50s rock, jazz, big band icons, the women; etc. Genres would change over the decades as music evolves. Someone below mentioned a planner.... do it! Even using a calendar on your computer, treat this as the job you want it to be. Plan your content and track what gets you the most feedback. You’ll grow and we’ll we talking bout how we were here from the beginning 🎉

Oooohh! I just got an ides, Dom. So. Music has served many functions in human history. You know everything from sacred music to personal laments, entertainment and storytelling, lullabies for little ones in times of trial to feel the love, proclamations of love, to cries for social change. It's not nothing, it's not frivolous, it's art. And art is a cry to and from the depths of the human spirit. When times are hard, somehow art pushes through. It's another dimension. Anyway, times are changing now, and people are crying out for it and about it. How about realizing that and presenting some on a regular basis. Most forms of music arose this way. Spirituals and blues and jazz got going this way and so did folk music and rap. And rock and roll for sure. During the depression, when people were moving around, hitchiking and riding the rails, searching for work, escaping oppression and weather, Woody Guthrie was singng This Land is Your Land, this Land is My Land and in the sixties Joan Baez and Bob Dylan were belting it out. People are singing now and trying different pathways to be heard. think about it.

I think you could do some of the history behind songs and talk about why it was impactful. For instance, "Only Time" by Enya and "Wake Me Up When September Ends" by Green Day were two huge songs that came out around the time of the 9/11 attacks and kind of helped everyone get through it. You know, stuff like that provides some context for you as you react to the songs. It's great to watch you and your brothers experience music and enjoy it!

When I was younger we had to buy the whole album if you wanted to keep hearing a song, so often you'd find other songs you liked on it that weren't played on the radio. What interests you? What is on your mind? Stay real. Be different. I think during COVID people are interested in finding out more about other people because it is hard to met new people. We are looking for ways to connect with our fellow humans. Music sure is one way. What are some other things? A day in your life could be interesting. Interviewing your family. Friends. Conversation.

Hey Dom! I’ve watched every one of your videos so far. I have enjoyed each one! You’re articulate, soft spoken and seem not afraid to show your vulnerable side when it comes out during a reaction. All incredible qualities in a man so young as you. These qualities show a maturity in you that is not often yet seen in a teenager (these characteristics usually appear in young men closer to their mid-twenties.) I suspect that you’re an old soul in some ways. I admire your desire to grow your channel and that you’re wisely reaching out to your fans and subscribers for our input. Your idea of theme days is fantastic and your commenters have suggested some really great theme ideas as well (someone suggested a “Dom & Mom” day, and that would be brilliant! You sit with her and watch a video that she recommends, and you react, then she gets to react to a video that you recommend, regardless of genre. And you could choose to post those weekly or monthly for example.). I also have a couple of theme ideas that you could maybe do monthly (and more or less frequently depending on your likes and comments).....a theme day of bands performing cover songs. Your brothers reacted to Disturbed performing Sounds of Silence, which is a cover of the original by Simon and Garfunkel. There are gazillions of cover songs out there, both professional and amateur. Should you choose to try a cover song, I recommend 99 Problems by Hugo. The original is by Jay Z. Hugo’s cover version will show you that song from a whole other angle! My other theme day idea, again, maybe monthly, is an Open Mic day to react to small-time, or new in the game musical artists or stand up comedy sets. Usually amateurish videos posted by the performers themselves. Doing something like this would expose these people to your fans and maybe, because of you and your channel, help them move ahead in their game. Something like this maybe: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XSDEVB9_leE.html Regardless of what you choose to do moving forward, keep being you, because it’s you that brings people back to watch more. Cheers!

So many great ideas. I was brain storming and I told myself don't be writing down your whole list. Just one. My suggestion is that you pick a singer or group that you will focus on during a month. Of course react to other music besides the group or singer of the month, but react to them at least twice a week for a month. Also maybe watch a biography of a movie of them and learn more about the group and their influence on music. You can ask us for suggestions, because you don't want to end up with a group that has one or two hits. Some examples would be: Whitney Houston- She has so many hits, and there are some biopics on her INXS- So many hits and Mystify: Michael Hutchence Beatles- So many hits and biopics Beach Boys- Love and Mercy movie

Some good ideas here. Music by decade, also the music by style sounds interesting. Maybe incorporate going live occasionally. With your mom! That might be fun. In the future, after you go in the military, do videos about things of interest in the places you are stationed at. Not the military part, that might be sensitive info. The civilian part. I grew up in the military. My mother believed there was beauty and interesting things no matter where we were, you just have to look for it. I like to think she was right. So be ready to show us new places. 😎

I love the idea of Motown Mondays, Classic Rock Tuesdays, Women Wednesdays, Punk/Pop Thursdays, and All Eras Flashback Fridays. I like the idea of guests on your reaction channel it'll be nice to hear why they chose the song and what it means to them.

Here's an idea FWIW: DomDolla Doubletake (or DomDolla Double Day). Followers suggest an original song and a remake/cover of the same song but refrain from telling you which they think is better. Because the order in which you listen to a song can influence preference, you mix up whether you listen to the orginal or the cover by assigning heads or tails to the two choices...and flip your DomDolla Dollar (yup, get a 1 dollar coin!) and whatever comes up you listen to first. React to each video-song on it own merits. And then after you've heard both give us your take on the two. Fans love to debate cover songs! Here's my DomDolla Doubletake suggestion: Bobby Fuller Four - I Fought The Law: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OgtQj8O92eI.html The Clash - I Fought The Law: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AL8chWFuM-s.html

Also, to add to the answer to your question below, Motown was a record label in Detroit. It was a shortened version of the Motor City , which is what they called Detroit back then because of all the cars that were manufactured in the area. Detroit= Motor City = Motown. Berry Gordy was the founder of the Motown record label, and he discovered so many talented black musicians back in the day...Diana Ross, Jackson 5, Temptations, TONS of musicians.

Hi! Maybe a Throw Back Thursday theme-for older music. New Music Monday-current artists you haven’t heard of yet. Or maybe a theme day posting several reactions to songs by the same artists so you can react to the progression of their career or if lots of fans request the same artist but different songs. Instead of women Wednesday maybe a theme day like “____of a specific decade” day like ladies of the 90’s day, Bangers of the 2000’s day or Guitar Gods day, Glam Rock day etc. Just some ideas to get you thinking. Watch your brothers but remember to be original. Be you!

I don't know how familiar you are with hip hop / hip pop/ crunk from about 2000-2006, but there is so much great stuff Three 6 Mafia - Stay Fly Lil Jon - Snap Yo Fingers, Get Low, Turn Down For What (his videos give me pause for recommending) Nelly - Hot in Here, Ride Wit Me, Country Grammar, Air Force Ones (again the videos...) Chingy - One Call Away, Right Thurr Sean Paul - Get Busy, Temperature Chamillionaire - Ridin' Nelly, Murphy Lee, Sean Combs (Diddy) - Shake Ya Tailfeather There's so many more, but the songs were mainstream at the time.

I'm going to add more. This is brain storming after all. I think someone gave great advice about to remember this is your show. Someone also mentioned your editing skills. I agree with her. I like when you speed up things or get up and dance. Also the Skittles. All these things make these videos yours. I like the idea of a theme, but it doesn't have do be a specific day it can be a month, a week or two week thing. Themes can changed and can be songs for a break up, songs when you fall in love, songs that are guilty pleasures, inspirational songs that take you through a bad time, ect. I like the meme of the 30-Day song challenge, which has some good suggestions www.pinterest.com/pin/311874342948064114/. Someone also suggested old commercials. I think that would be different. I would also add old TV show themes, parody songs, comedy skits or some music videos that we watch because they are just plane crazy. Whatever you decided to do. There are many of here to support you.
