Someone needs a way to get a 10r80 and just test it at some crazy temps and see what happens like you said. Ford wont do it otherwise when it fails we all know haha
Ulev trans means the oil doesn't get moving properly until it gets to temp. No reason to get a lower tstat. This guy is meant to hit higher. They say to change the oil at 230plus degrees.
Check your muffler bearing clearences. If they are tight they cause a reverse back pressure that puts a strain on the transmission planetary drum sprag. Very common...
Seriously, you guys have no idea what you are talking about. It was clearly the piston return springs. They are worn out and that is why the muffler bearings need to be replaced.
It’s so hard to vlog with young kids 😁. Those temps seem high to me but things change so quickly in the car world these days maybe these higher temps are the norm. Great info loving the content.
I had bad with my mustangs 10r80 ford rebuilt it after I burned some clutches. But ford bought my car back after the motor and trans failed. I’m having issues now with my 6r80 after I added a stall convertor and gears. Trying today to get Lund to fix the line pressure and shift points
It is very easy. Swap your 170degree for a 160 degree. With the transmission get the ford dealer to unlock the transmission temperature gauge and set this up in your centre cluster on the 12 inch digital display.
Running a stage 2 Gen 5 whipple run about 200 degrees max. Have a base car so I get the temp readout. I wouldn't get excited unless I went over 240. Car runs great but I'm not drag racing either. Doing more road course work. 270 degrees used to be the temp where the oil would fail and burn. The new fluid maybe hotter but 240 is where my comfort ends. I'm more worried about my rear differential temperatures.
I have a stock 2019 GT Fastback 5.0 and mine when I'm hitting hard in the summer gets up to 225 degrees. I was told that it's ok to have it that high because that trans fluid is hot and cleaning deposits at that heat.
I'm not near your power but I would be worried last 210ish...I had Edelbrock stage 2 till engine popped...and my trans temp never got that high 10r80...I was 800hp flywheel your probably 1100hp though and I had stock stall that aftermarket is gonna add some heat
I had a 98 z28 back in the day with the junk ass 4l60e that was built and I ended up running ams oil in the trans because I was making like 650-700 wheel and I'd see trans temps upwards of 210-220. I found that ams oil withstood the temp way better
