Hello Laura, Thank you so much for making this video. It was very helpful for me. I watched it just before I tried to do my first letter embroidery using my Brother machine. My small project turned out great. Everything went very smoothly. Your video was excellent. Thanks again. Julie
Hello Marylin Dupree :) This is what I do: 1. I mark the area at the center of the position where the pattern will be embroidered. 2. After setting the embroidery frame & the fabric. I place the embroidery sheet to match the center of the sheet with the mark I made on the fabric. 3. I use the arrows on the display screen to select were inside the hoop the first letter will be set.
For Cutecrown's question: I have the same machine (Brother Brand), and it doesn't use a foot control for embroidery. The large green button that she pressed starts the machine, and it will run automatically, stopping either when the pattern is done or if a design has more than one color. She can stop the machine at any time by pressing that same green button-and it will turn red until she presses it again to start the machine.
I have a Brother SE 425 and I follow the directions exactly but when doing the letters the thread keeps getting tangled and creates a hole in my shirt. I have gone through 5 shirts. I'm using tear away and the embroidery needle. What am I missing? Thank you love the video I seen it 10 times
+Msyterygurl Hola :) Please tell your mom she has a beautiful name ;) I know that feeling, its awesome to watch the machine embroider. I'm always impressed with all the little details it makes.  My favorite built in pattern is the tea set. It has a teapot, a teacup, a teaspoon, a little saucer, and even the tea bag. I like it so much I made a video > ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-c3yPAW14t3E.html
Hello: MyKidsRmyLife85 I looked in the Brother Sewing Machine HE-240 manual and couldn't find the specifics to your question. But in mentions: "Characters from different fonts (sans serif and serif, etc)". Looking at the alphabet characters in the main menu I can see 5 different styles. One of them does resemble the English font. The Bernina Artista 165 has also a collection of 5 alphabets: Drifter, Lisa(looks like English font to me), Blackboard, Swiss Block and Zurich. Both machines can handle the embroidery of a sweat shirt fabric.
@Richard my machine did thesamething. It was the bobbin. Try rethreading it. You need to wind bobbin very carefully without it getting loose. Also use bobbin cover when no longer using bobbin so thread won't get loose.
+Kelsey Jensen Hello, I was trying to follow the conversation. Do you have a problem with your new machine? Regarding the thread, I have experienced that some type of embroidery thread sometimes is too slippery and comes loose as the machine is embroiderying. I have been using Sulky rayon 100% it works well with the brother machine. But with my Bernina Artista it works well only when I have thick backing.
What is the size of the small? Your choice seems quite big--and it seems there is a lot of thread involved... I am looking for something to embroider small names to be attached in clutches. I wonder what would a good choice on machine be?
I have done 3 projects all has failed. my upper thread keeps winding around my lower bobbin threads and my pattern gets ruin by the sewing machine eating a hole through my project what am I do wrong... the tension or what, I use stabilabizer on both front and back of project it takes me so long to get it out of the machine Using a brothers SE425
I'm trying to find out if it's possible to increase the letter size on a Brother SC3000. New machine and I can't find any video to help out. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
Minion Hope how are you :) Something I would try, woud be something like hand embroidery but with a regular machine I would outline a word on fabric, then a set of thick stitches to outline the design drafted. I haven't try it but you just gave me a great idea.
I think one way could be by using the embroidery sheet as guide. Mark the center of the embroidery sheet on the fabric ( I would also ad more lines on the fabric). After you finish embroidering the first word move the frame and use the grid and lines in the fabric to guide yourself and continue embroidering.
My machine is an SE400. It shows only the white bobbin thread on the top as it embroiderys, instead of the colored embroidery thread that I'm using. Do you have any suggestions?
Great question. Yes, before embroidering the shirt I used medium weight backing or stabilizing. There are diferent types of stibilizers: from light, medium to heavy. the type of backing depends of the type of fabric that is embroidered. I found this site useful to give you an idea of how to prepare the fabric: www.emblibrary.com/EL/ELProjects/Projects.aspx?productid=pr1334
I guess it depends of the material and size of the backpack.I think that if the back pack is big enough for you to set it without problems in the hoop and attached to the machine: sounds doable. Let me know how it goes :)
Great question. The mothe is: Brother Sewing and Embroidery HE-240. The issues I have encountered with the embroidery are related to the embroidyer thread. Sometimes, while embroidering the machine stops, either because the thread breaks or gets stuck under the bottom of the needle plate. One of the reason I found, was that I was not using the recommended embroidery thread, and I have not learn how to set the tension correctly on the thread for embroidery. When you buy the machine it comes with an embroidery set. The embroidery hoop can give you an idea of the size of letters and designs that you will be able to make, with this set its easier to embroider small and medium size fonts. For large fonts I have to embroider letter by letter, which makes it a bit tricky because you have to do a lot of measuring to make sure everything is aligned. Overall I really like this machine!
hola se ocupa hilo especial para la maquina, mi ,aquina es my muy parecida a l;a tuya la mia es SOFIA 2 DE BABY LOCK y no la se usar:( solo uso lo basico pero quiero aprobechrla al maximo, podrias orientarme

+Kristen Parria It's called> Embroidery frame or Embroidy Hoop. The one you see in the video is medium size. Has an allowance for patterns with a height of up to 4 inches and a width of up to 4 inches.
+carlos rico The machine in the video is the Brother Sewing Machine HE 240 - Computarized Embroidery. Yes, this model is perfect for sewing and embroidering. I do recomend it.
Thank you for the video on Brothers HE-120. I will use it on some placemats I'm currently making. Question: should I use some kind of interfacing or lining for the part embroidered?
Betty Robertson Hello again! Here is the link to the video for Letter Embroidery step by step. Regarding the 2nd question, I think it depends of what fabric you will be using & the type of placemat you will be making. Here I found I really nice site related to project you are working on: www.emblibrary.com/EL/ELProjects/Projects.aspx?productid=pr1292
Hello :) The answer is yes :) Phyllis will fit. The amount of letters that you can embroider depend on the type of font and size of each letter. I did a test, I embroidered " PHYLLIS", all in large capital letters (all in one line). The biggest embroidery font I could use measured:1/2 inch length & width for each letter. I will make a video to show you :) The embroidery frame of the Brother Sewing Machine HE-240 comes with a 4*4 Clear Grid wit to help you position the letters. It gives an idea of the allowance for the number of letters & size that can be use in 1 line. Also, if the font is too large for the frame, there is a setting in the machine that you can use to complete the word.
Hi Laura, can you please help me please, I bought some fonts and I wont to stack a name for example I wont to put a capitol M on the bottom and then I wont to spell mia on top of it. Could you please help me...thank you so much
