It would be interesting to see a comparison of the penetration of 7n24 bs 5,45x39 and m 995 5,56x45 NATO cartridges. I understand that the video will be quite expensive and probably not very realizable due to the difficulty of getting 7n24, but if you manage to get all the necessary cartridges, it would be really interesting to look at their comparison.

I'm glad you made this video. I've been looking at getting a ballistic helmet, but it's hard to find one on a budget and I automatically ignore any site that sells "level IV" helmets

There are rifle-resistant helmets that actually work. The AS-600 from ArmorSource f.e. - it's widely used by SOF worldwide. The thing is that the trauma caused by a 7.62x39mm or even 7.62x51mm is so heavy, that the bulge that expands within milliseconds could already damage you without letting the bullet through when there is no trauma-padding inside. But yeah... there are actual rifle-resistant helmets that would stop rifle rounds.

I knew this helmet was sketch as soon as I heard "level 4." Even the ECH and the IHPS are (maybe) level 3 on the NIJ ballistic rating scale, and even that is only effective from 100 yards or more out. To claim that any combat helmet has a level 4 rating is just absurd. You guys in the comments are right, if a manufacturer promises a certain level of ballistic protection, they damn sure better be right, otherwise someone's going to get killed.

Good afternoon, I would like to mention the different ballistic armor standard since many people might not know, you mentioned this helmet came from across the pond so it likely is following the VPAM armor standard which is common throughout europe instead of the NIJ standard (goes from 1-4), in VPAM(from 1-14) level 4 can stop upto .357 magnum or sometimes .44 mag. Based on the cut of the helmet though it might also be based on the GOST (russian) standard where a level 4 (may) be able to stop a soft 5.45×39. Russian is known to produce many copies that look like this design that only preform slightly worse then the original thats why I had to put the (may) stop a 5.45.

Yeah the only think I've seen with the capability to stop rounds like that are like thick heavy duty steal made helmets and helmets with a scull cap , but still the blunt force trauma would do a lot of damage, even kill you if it's in the right spot plus some serous wip lash

I have been meaning to ask y’all, are those Center Point Scopes you use? I have used Center Point for years and love them. I think it would be kickass to hear a tiny bit about the optics even if just basic Simons or Center Point.

You needed to try a .177 cal. shot from a break barrel.

The only actually rifle rated helmets today are the Avon / Ceradyne L110s. And they cost $1600 and come with UHMWPE hard armor.

That 2nd hit with the 5.56 isn’t a graze and a re-entry. It’s a small hole with a larger exit after the round spalled through the skull to the other side. Saw plenty of their in OIF/OEF. 5.56 entries often look like mosquito bites with little to no blood, especially the 55 grain. But if it does exit it, the wound looks like a sabot or larger round caused the damage.

That helmet is fine for the strikeball, but wearing it to protect yourself from a rifle shot would be mistake.) Btw, Going Ballistics, what type of camera do you use for that nice super slow motion? And btw2, I'm still waiting for the Damascus armour shooting.)

I could tell just from the thumbnail the helmet was way too thin to be level 4.

I could find good use to these side rails, chin strap, inner pads and shroud. If you don't need them.

I reckon if you DIY'd a helmet by 3D printing one out of polycarbonate and lined it with kevlar and epoxy resin it would do a better job.

Sorry Im late on this but I would be happy to take on any issues you have with equipment purchased here in the UK . There are " Level 4 ' helmets available but not of that type which are level 3A , but of composite ceramic construction . Hikepros is not a company Im familiar with and suggest they might be Stateside. If buying UK made kit , buy it in the UK .
