RIP Boon. You were such an important and vital part of the band. Underrated guitarist and one heck of a writer, harmonists you definitely helped make the band and brought to its greatness and wrote timeless classics that so many of us grew up listening. A big thanks and hope you are at peace

Will never tire of this band. First saw them when I was 14, now 48 and hopefully going to see them in October. My favourite band.

WoW! See the look on Lindup's Face when he finishes that sound on the keyboard. Like a sign of relief that it worked perfect. How intense this intro must be to play it live and sound right all the time. Brilliant!

Rick Scicluna I'm a bit late with this reply but i believe the reason Mike was so relieved was because back in those days keyboards & synths/emulators etc were so prone to breaking down during gigs & they were still ironing out all the issues that bands before & up to this gig & onwards were having with them... According to Mark this was why he ended up taking certain stage & would do his now famous bass solos to keep the punters happy while the tech guys worked their magic to hopefully get the keyboards working again... Even when they'd released the True Colours album years later they would still have issues with certain tracks & again according to Mark " Hot Water " was a pain at times to play because of issues with the electronic side of things. Keyboard players that i played with at the same time as this in several bands all had similar issues... I know Mark likes a laugh during interviews & might on occassion wind someone up for a laugh but he doesn't take himself too seriously so I'm inclined to believe his explanation along with my experience working along with fellow keyboard player's. Thats why you rarely see Mark do solos anymore as they've got all tbose issued ironed out. He even joked at Serens II O2 ABC Glasgow Friday October 7, 2016 Gig that i was at that i hope the keyboard works or you'll have to hear one of my boring bass solos. I got the reference joke but everyone just cheered as soon as he said Bass Solo

Let nobody tell you that Level 42 were a pop band, they are fusion, I hear this and I hear bands like Weather report and return to forever in their sound.

Mark was very influenced by Mahavishnu Orchestra & John McLaughlin I believe.

I remember years ago I popped a cassette (yes, a cassette) into my car stereo. I hadn't listened to L42 for a long time and I honestly thought I was listening to Weather Report - the first track was Dune Tune. In their day L42 were serious jazz funk fusion.

You can in fact be a pop band and still have musicianship. The two are not mutually exclusive.

Can you imagine, in 2019, a mostly instrumental jazz funk band from the Isle Of Wight getting a 5 album deal with a major label? AND, not getting dropped after only minor success on the UK charts on their first 2 albums?

I'm still a huge fan of Accidents but man, their "official" self titled album. The entire thing sums up exactly what Level 42 was..

I love Level 42. Saw them live on the 'Running in the Family' tour in London I paid for a few of my mates to come with me and it was great. I still listen and have most of their vinyl albums in my office / man cave. This track is a true genius in music as are a good few tracks. Live on Level 42!!! I'll be there... I'm 59 now and still love the music!

He did a lot to bring the Jaydee to people's attention . Brilliant bass guitar's and the next best thing to a very expensive Alembic that he eventually played with as well.

So much goes by that we never even hear about, let alone experience... all locked away until.... today. Montreux '83 was like a Twilight Zone episode compared to this... Although, why the snareless-snare from Phil???
