Even though I already knew this, to see it to this degree really is crazy. Also have to thank Brandon for using a lot of resources to give us top level content.
would have been nice in your testing to also show a 90-100% shadow vs the 0% shadow so we can see the importance of IV for shadow types. I suspect its not as big a difference as the normal vs shadow is, like instead of a 3 second increase maybe a 1 or 2 second?
@@ThaGamingMisfit If you dont have a lot of starseed to have multiple shadow pokemon a non-shadow hundo would be better since it wont die as much. SO i'll call it a stepping stone.
It will probably show no difference - especially in such an easy raid as the Shinx raid. A perfect IV Shadow hits a bit harder and in certain situations last a little longer than the 0 IV but if you don't have any problems beating the boss with your team(s) then the very small difference doesn't matter. IV are very overrated!
He already did that video. He did a 90%, 93%, 96%, and 100% shadow. They all only vary by a couple secs. From 90%-100% i think was a 6-7sec difference. This will only matter if you are trying to duo/trio a legend. Otherwise, any shadow is good enough.
Real talk; how many youtubers out there would do this for us? Probably nobody 😆 We all know how difficult it is to collect XL candies and stardusts and he is willing to level up a pokemon to the max (50) that he will never ever use again. I really appreciate you doing this for us Brandon!
@@Zazamaneebut the iv's do matter, specially the attack one. If a pkmn with 1 iv is on a battle against one with 0 ivs on attack then it will ALWAYS lose the speed ties when they use a charged move.
Well i really hate that shadow pokemon are so much stronger and purifying them is just pointless. Kinda loses the point of "saving" them from corruption, so in essence, lore wise all of us are evil dicks, which allow suffering from pokemon to get some gains, but gains are just way too big to ignore.
Yeah for casual like me, I caught one 0-0-0 nundo and zero 15-15-15 hundo amongst around 2000 pkm since the time I started playing the game@@EmmeryCheung And that's normal pokemon, let alone shadow counterpart of those.
Old video but people will come across it. BrandonTan showed it in action but the math behind it is: IV is a flat amount added to the pokemon’s base stats. So let’s say a pokemon had 100 attack, 100 defense and 100 HP. A 100% 15/15/15 IV pokemon would have 115/115/115 stats. and the obvious 0% IV with 0/0/0 would be 100/100/100. Shadow pokemon get a 20% attack bonus and -20% defense. So a 0% shadow pokemon with those base stats would be 120/80/100 showing that the pokemon has more attack but a lot less defense. This is gap is only if you powered up a 0% shadow. So imagine a 3-star with possibly 15/15/11 Like the Metagross we saw? Honestly if you get a max attack IV shadow it’s definitely worth it for max damage. Just keep in mind about the Defense debuff, and make sure to dodge otherwise they will faint faster.
This video is exactly what I needed to know! I was super disappointed because my shadow were such low IV and I don't have the time to grind Pokemon like other people. But now that I know I don't need them to be super high iv to make them worth powering up now I might finally build some good pokemon for raids!!! Thank you
Hello Brandon, How about another experiment on how much damage a 0% shadow can do compared to a hundo after it faints, just to take into consideration the 17% a shadow take as added damage compared to a hundo. This would represent a stronger pokemon effectiveness, specially for tier 5 and mega raids. Also, is a shadow Ho-Oh with sacred fire+ better than a purified one with sacred fire ++? In other words is it worth purifying a Shadow Ho-Oh with sacred fire+?
This is an awesome comparisons and I was actually surprised. Everyone needs to keep in mind also is dodging. When using shadow Pokémon you want to always dodge the charge moves even if they’re resisted so you can survive to get off as many charge moves as possible. This is one reason I use dragon breath on my hundo shadow dragonite and dragon tail on my regular hundo dragonite. Dodging is key to maximize the damage boost.
I know this is old, but I am getting back into the game now, I hope you read my comment though. Because, I do not completelly agree with you, yes the shadow is faster in fainting the pokemon, however it does so loosing more hp, and also, it has less max hp. If your point was to compare them, you should compare to how much total damage can both do (till they faint) because I believe if you bring 6 hundos to a 3-4* raid those will make more total damage than 6 shadow 0 IV (so you may beat it with less people, or even solo it, although it will be slower). I made a brief calculation and, till they faint, the shadow would beat its opponent if it had 9.9 times more health, however the hundo would beat one that had 15.5 times more health. In conclusion, it would be nice to see a comparison in a stronger opponent so you can see how much damage they can make till they faint, and maybe explore what IVs would make a shadow pokemon beat a hundo in total "damage till fainted". Another interesting comparison would be how much damage can a team of 6 shadow (0 IVs) make till the timer of a 5* raid is over (while using max revive after all are fainted keep fighting) vs a team of hundos (since those last longer maybe wont even have time to heal up and continue for that long). Btw, I know these pokemon are super hard to get, I am just wishing it could be tested :) Pd: It seems you make a video of these every year, so maybe this year's one can have a different test.
No wonder that a shadow wins bacause 20%+ damage is more that +15atk But against legendarys it is not the best idea to use such low iv ones for defense 😂
I think it was unnecessary to do this test when you can easily say base ttar has 251 attack power + 15 for max attack IV stat is 266. Shadow base ttar attack is 251+(.2(251))=301. 35 power difference. Did not need to waste resources to see that.
I have a 98 % Shadow tyranitar but I made the huge mistake of purifying it (since I really wanted a Hundo Tyranitar at that time). I learned my lesson hard. 😢😂
Is the 20% bonus dmg for shadow better than mega boost? I have a 96% shadow latios and feel tempted to purify it to have a mega hundo. What you guys think?
probably a bad idea, since you can probably get a good one (doesn't need to be 100%) from doing normal raids, but you will never get another 96% chadow latios lol
Thanks for the video and explanation Brandon! That said, I don't like the way Niantic implemented Shadows - they're too OP. A 0% Shadow should not be better than a 100% regular. Otherwise, why should I spend money chasing 100% Legendaries?
we would also need to have in count that even if shadow has higher dps (damage per second), it doesn't mean it's going to have higher tdo (total damage output) beacuse it doesn't have the same amount of health points. You should try testing out how much damage you do by playing against a friend in a pvp match
Thanks for the video. Helps me feel better about some of my better shadows not being too great. Good to know they are better than 100 IVs. Would have been good to see this on a level 3 raid too. Just to see how long it lasts vs how much damage it did. Maybe a part 2 coming?
When it comes on to shadow pokemon, I'd usually keep and power up the ones that could be purified into hundos. But, I don't purify shadow pokemon, so any IVs that's 13/13/13 and above is an elite
I have a 10 15 15 shadow charizard. 2492 CP with Dragon claw and Fire blast. I’m using it in the ultra league which is quite fun. Should I purify and/or power up to max? (2800+). Or should I keep using it in the ultra league? I’m only level 38 so I can’t power it up to level 50 yet
That is amazing. I have to tell my son. He trades Shadow Pokemon to the professor if they have poor IV's. This proves him wrong. That's Brandon! :) :) :)
Crazy I heard it was better but I haven’t evolved my shadow because I been waiting for a good IV one, I’m currently maxing out my 98% shadow Metagross, will start leveling up my other low IV shadows, seeing this was very interesting
That was interesting, but I wish you would have gone against a Legendary to see how much damage each could do before they fainted. Like you've done before where you enter the same battle twice to have an exact comparison. Seems that would have been a more accurate measurement. I never use shadows myself. It's one of my overall goals to "rescue" as many as I can. :)
Perfect video for me right now. Im a normal/regular player level 43. I got a 14 13 13 Shadow Bagon - I dont have a 100% Salamence. Should I get the hundo, or keep it for the damage?
i'd still purify it... but in the end its up to you whenever you want to use that as shadow or purified... i even purified legendary... also i just got a 12/13/13 Quilava... guess what im gonna do... imma purifying it
Raids I feel like aren't really the issue when it comes to fighting though. I feel like, losing 2-3 seconds in a raid isn't that big of an issue. The real question is whether or not using Shadow pokemon in the pokemon go league is worth or not due to the increased Damage it takes. I struggle to decide if its better to use High IV pokemon in the go league or Shadow versions. I have a 98% Shiney Shadow Venasaur that I use, but being a naturally tanky pokemon, it sucks when it gets melted really fast due to pokemon that generate charge attacks quickly, where if I had a regular Venasaur in that position, I could probably let a few of those hit without wasting Shields. The video is very informal though, It's good to get conformation on the damage output of the Shadow even as a 0% IV Pokemon.
Go take a look a PvPoke. It will tell you when it's better to use shadow or the normal version, also it will tell you which IV is best for that pokemon and the best movesets.
Nice Shadow Collection bro! I recently caught a 100% Shadow Magikarp. He's now a lvl 40 Gyarados. I'm Ultra buddies with him right now and I'm close to having the XL candies to maxing him out as much as I can.
I mean technically a shadow is a 20% attack boost as a hundo is a 6% attack boost and 20% of the cp of the shadow is more than 6% of the cp of the hundo but in pvp you have to consider that a hundo is gaining 18% boost in general for being hundo and shadow are attacking hard but also taking a lot of damage so in pvp i think hundo is better
Shadow pokemon take more damage than non shadow so the attack stat doesn't matter, I go for x/15/15 with x representing a number idc about because no matter the attack iv, the shadow will always do more damage
I wish I was joking when I said this, but I caught a 100iv shadow bagon on my third arlo encounter. I hope you guys find similar luck! (now I’m hunting the shiny) :D When do I buy a lottery ticket?
Just watched a Brandon video and why do one gets double the XP in America than Spain? In Spain for a 1 star raid we 3500 XP in America one gets 7000 XP. On a 5 star raid in Spain we get 10000 XP and in America one gets 20000 XP. Brandon did not put an egg on. Any answers other than ' move to America '
@@miguelvieira9098 unfortunately I cant see it. If thats the case then that snswers my question but if Brandon uses eggs on every raid I doubt it as he has over 3billion XP.
There has been players to get perfect shadow Pokemon. Which very very rare. So I do the same. I don't spend 1000s on the game. $20 here $20 there, but I power up Excellent 91% and up by poke genie standard IV. I wouldn't power up nothing under a great in shadow Pokemon. Reason being it takes alot of star dust and XL candy probably when you get to level 50.
I think an event where shadow Pokemon spawn in the wild for a day would be so cool. Think of it as a community day but for a meta shadow Pokemon. They can even create a lore for it like maybe during a team rocket event all their shadow Pokemon escaped into the wild and it's up to us to rescue them
Your test is flawed slightly. The Shinx you fought in the raids were not the same Shinx. Both of those raids were fought against two separate Shinx with different i.v.'s themselves. This would absolutely effect the way they would deal with the damage being dealt. If the 100% Tyranitar fought a 100% Shinx and the 0% shadow fought a 70% Shinx they would have very different results. You should have had them fight in pvp battles against the exact same opponent. That would be a much stronger controlled experiment and wouldn't allow for your unseen or ignored flaws to pollute the data pool. The part that eats at me is you pushing your "results" as absolute and definitive proof. Just saying
It doesn't matter cuz in real battle (PVP/5* raids/M raids) with lower defense shadow pokemon are weaker and die faster. It only show attack skill. Shadow lost 19 HP vs 3 HP normal
you’re fighting very low level Pokémon’s. It’s primarily DPS that’s being taken into account. So basically a 0 star with 15 attack tyrannitar would perform the same as your 100% in this test.
Are shadow Pokemons the ones you get from beating The team rocket Grunts and stuff? Also I've noticed some people have little yellow badges on their Pokemon. What are those and how do you get them? I just started to log in again after a couple years.
I caught a shiny 0% iv lapras 😅😂 Also a perfect iv shiny shadow... And a perfect iv ultra league..all with legacy 1st and 2nd move.. currently useless. 😂😂
Well it's a good thing I just used a couple hundred of my charged TM's to get frustration off all my pokemon during the event! I had like 700 that I NEVER use, haha
Yeah shadow 94 is better but like for me i have 3 100% so i puirifyd it so now i have a hundo! The 96 doesnt mean anything, the 100% does( its was a duskoll )
I am level 24 and i have 220 CP shadow larvitar but i only have 7 candy's, and it is pretty hard to find larvitar's in the wild which makes getting the candy's hard
You need to have a friend battle in real pvp with the Pokemon. I think that would be a better test. Hold nothing back freind battle. I think pvp battle may be different. Just a thought.
The opponent is weak, when the opponent is more stronger, the shadow pokémon die more quickly than no shadow. The no shadow pokémon take more dommage because he alive more time than shadow? The scénario can change with stronger opponent
Yes, when there's an event of Team Rocket featuring Giovanni with a shadow legendary pkmn. During those events is when you are available to use charged tms to remove frustration from your shadow pk's.
This is super interesting. I caught a shadow shiny nundo Carvhana yesterday. It’s my second nundo and it’s a freaking shiny and I was debating if I power it up for laughs
i really dont understand how some people have so much xlo candy for pokemon that arent common spawns lmfao. like im struggling to get xl candy for some of these.
I have never been concerned about power in raids or gym battles. To me it is all about power for PVP. I have noticed in my Ultra league classic often my shadow Electivive gets knocked out before he gets a chance to do his power move. I am seriously considering switching to the non-shadow version.
