For the gray dwarf farm, the Pilar under the spawned is not necessary, they will float So you can completely clear it out and give both skeletons a clear line of fire.
Or easier still, stand in a fire pilar found in the swamps. At the beginning you need the shield tick down to 2:53 and recast, and more you level the skill the more you need tweak time of recast cause increase in shield strength, but basically you can pretty much do it with out getting burned, alternatively just take fire res potion and even if ur timing is off the damage you take is very minimal. This is by far the easiest way.
Yes that is also an option as well! I do not believe that was always the case, I but I have noticed in the last few months floating Nest farms popping up! I've even made some new auto-farms that are pretty neat, but do require mods!
