Hi everyone! If you want the scene to be brighter/darker, just adjust SunLight +/- in your ray controller. Also, you don't have to memorize all the values in this tutorial. Every time you need a night scene, just duplicate the file you made in this tutorial(File -> Save as) and replace the model and the stage. One more tip: For those who don't know how to locate the head bone of the model for the target bone or change its name in the PMX Editor, the head bone for you should be "Null_41" If you've found my tutorials helpful and would like to support my work, consider buying me a coffee on my Ko-fi page ko-fi.com/theweebdev . Your support helps me create more content like this. Thanks for watching my videos, and see you in the next tutorial!
Extremely great again. so great that i have now created a public playlist in my channel with your 4 tutorials that have been published so far. name of the playlist: "MME Tutorials by The Weeb Dev MMD". The playlist points directly to your original videos. And as soon as I have more time I have to try Kira Kira and the night scene. But especially the night scene. And I agree with you. It is actually recommended to save different setups as a template. I've already done that with Daylight. Above all, hiding the light source and showing material adjustments using the PMX controller files was worth its weight in gold. Especially the material adjustments via controller, because I saw something similar from a friend, but he had FX files with textures open in the text editor. I still have to test this out intensively. since i partly tell stories with my videos (by carefully choosing western pieces of music) and wanted to finish some of them, i haven't been able to try anything since kira kira, but i'll catch up on all that soon. You made really good tutorials there. one more tip, possibly worth mentioning in the next video. you can also save the RAY folder again with a different name. eg if you need several setups with ray.conf. by the way. if you look at my channel and notice that many of my videos are without Ray MMD, it's because I still want to show many old MMDs via the calendar function on RU-vid. Therefore extreme differences from one video to the next are often visible :)
@@SandySunray Yeah I myself don't remember every value so I make template in everything I do so when I needed it, I just open the template and all of the setup needed is already done. Thanks for appreciating my works. It really means a lot especially after all the hard work I put into making these tutorials. Have a nice day! :)
@@theweebdev the knowledge must be preserved. and if the opportunity arises, i want to ask you if a 1:1 reupload with all the links from the description would be approved if your channel goes offline, which of course we hope not! but I've seen many MMDer go offline. and it would be nice if I or other honest MMDer could keep this knowledge by re-uploading it.
Wow this is amazing! I watched your other 2 tutorial as well and I improve so much in MMD! Please continue this MMD Tutorials Series! Thank you for this amazing tutorials!
Yay Another Tutorial! I found a stage that look good in night. I really enjoy your tutorials and it much better and easy to followed then another tutorial I found
You're welcome and thanks for the kind words. This tutorial took me a lot of time. Thank goodness I was able to finish and upload it in the last few minutes before the time I promised it to be release haha
this makes me so happy, honestly ive never been able to find a night tutorial that went past how to add a night skybox TvT. I love how night scenes look so this makes me so happy will be savin this video. MVP video once again
You're welcome. I added other effects to this night scene because just adding the night skybox looks bland. I want beginners to enjoy the scene once they completed it. Thanks for the support :)
I'm glad to hear that. It’s awesome that you could implement the Kira Kira effect in your first MMD video. Thanks for watching my videos and I wish you have a wonderful day ☺
Wow, this is awesome!! What an amazing tutorial! It seems complex at first, but you explain everything in a way that's very easy to follow and understand! Your MMD tutorials are some of the best that I have seen so far, and they will surely be a huge help to me once I start using the software to make an actual video. Thank you so much! Yes, it would be great if you could continue making tutorials like this! 👍😃
Thanks. Yeah this one is like the first Ray MMD tutorial but with extra steps. Looking forward seeing you upload mmd videos using the techniques that you learned from my tutorials! 😊
I've been using MMD on occasion for about 5 years and let me tell you, back then I would have killed for videos like these. I've already learned several nifty tricks! Keep up the good work buddy, love the editing by the way. Have a good one! 😉
Dude i wish i watched your videos 2 years ago when i was very passionate about this i even went and bought new pc to start it but no one was helping me and i lost hope but i think you light up the spark in me again i actually booted up mmd again after this to try this finally i was struggling with stages didn't look how they are in the thumbnail when i download but now i know why
Thanks again for the latest tutorial! Seems I need to update the effects the last time I downloaded I didn't have the fog effect again thank you this was a great help!
Great tutorial! I would like to ask, if I use more than 1 model, should I add more spotlight too? Or Do I just need only 1 spotlight attached to 1 model only? Thank you so much
If you have more than one model, you have two choices. Either: Add more lighting around the models but don't attach it to their head bones so it looks more like an environment lighting or you can give each model one spotlight and attached it to their head bones if you want the light to be consistent in a certain part on a model(in this case, you want lighting for the hair and head consistent as they move around). You can also combine both of those approach
did you use a ray config setting? i did the steps but mine always look wired and some people use the ray config settings im bad with understand that if you did what your settings?
No I didn't change anything in the ray config. Everything that I use is in the tutorial. Try to use the model and stage in this tutorial before using other assets and when you're done that's when you experiment using a different model/stage and play around with the values
Hey, it's possible a tutorial for changing clothes? Because I have watching but not working, if you can do that, it's be great! And thanks for your tutorial, this is help me to improve in MMD!
I need help, any way I can contact you? I tried following all the steps until 4:16, but instead of my characters having their proper colors, mine look weird and too shiny. Idk what I m messing up. Pls help. Contact me ASAP if possible.
Hi, I think you should finish the tutorial first using the same model and stage that I used and depending on the result, we can narrow down the problem. If you can make the scene using the model in this tutorial then the problem is in the other model that you used. If you can't make the scene despite using the same model in this tutorial, then it could be on how you setup the ray-mmd
I haven't used that shader but if ever I used it, I'll share my knowledge to everyone via tutorial. Maybe on my next MMD videos I'll try to experiment and use it
Thank you for the tutorial! I'm having problems with my model being tooooo bright after I load AutoLuminous. Is there a way to make my model not too bright while I use another shader/MME on my model?
By being too bright you mean your model also has autoluminous built-in in it and when you load autoluminous, it gets brighter? or the scene makes your model look too bright?
still looks a little bit like day time, can i send you a video and you can tell me what effects they probably used? because the night time they used looks more realistic
Sorry, I don't do one on one lessons. If you want it darker, you need to adjust the values in the time of night controller. Try to change the values until you get your desired result/preference
I love this tutorial, messing with the MME skybox materials is scary. I'm having an issue though, where the "fog" (not the Soft Smoke, but the time of fog fog mapping) is coming up way too high on the model. I tried messing with the fog controller and can't seem to fix it. Any suggestions?
There's this option in the time of night controller where you can lessen the intensity of the fog so if its showing too much, you can adjust that value
I can think of many ways to make your model lighter: 1) You can change the material of your model in the MaterialMap tab and pick a material until you can find a texture suitable for your model. 2)You can also adjust the brightness of the skybox. 3)Change the position of the light in the light manipulation 4)Adjust the brightness of the light source following the model 5)Adjust the position of the light source following the model 6)Change the SunLight+ in the ray_controller 7) Edit the texture of the model by assigning in the MaterialMap tab Materials -> Editor -> Standard -> material_editor__1.fx then load in model manipulation material_editor__1.pmx and change in the controller the values until you get the desired result like for example putting EmissiveR+ to 0.4, EmissiveG+ to 0.2 and EmissiveB+ to 0.1
Why do some of the changes made in the Facial Manipulation tab reset despite my hitting register a million times? They only stay if I manually move the slider instead of inputting a direct number value...
Does the import order of ray.x, ray controller, model and scenario influence mmd? I saw that in other videos the order of uploading those files is different.
Sometimes, when you don't load them in order, it can cause some problems with the render for skyboxes like time of day and time of night but for sky hemisphere, order doesn't matter
This usually has to do with your model's parts names were corrupted when you extract the zip file and it's names are written in Japanese. You can either download it again using a file extractor that supports japanese/Chinese like b a n d i z i p or change you PC's system locale to japanese and redownload it
@@lodescar_alt I used models with transparent textures using raycast. Must be something in the model but I don't know exactly because I haven't encountered it before
Hey! When I activate the "Night lightning" the space turns really foggy. I tried changing the intensity of the fog on the night controller but it didn't work. helppp
Autoluminous4 and Diffusion7 have dead links, could you by any chance pass on your files or recommend an alternative? Sorry if I don't have good English, I speak Spanish
Hello Hello! Thanks for the tutorial. May i ask something? I just want to ask i tried following the instructions~ but i kinda confused about my face model become dark brown skin like little bit too dark than white. How i can fix this?
Hi! i just want to ask why i try using night scene my model and stage become black or white? i mean i do use material fix but still the same @@theweebdev
Did you use the same model and stage used in the tutorial? Also, I made this using screen size of 1920x1080 so maybe adjust the suze of the display as well in mmd
That's just automatic bro once you load it so I don't really know but maybe MMD can't find the path to your Autouminous so maybe put it in a different folder like the downloads or desktop folder then try again
I think it happens when you extract the file. The names got changed so it doesn't matched with the name of the texture assigned in the model. Someone in my previous kirakira tutorial has the same problem and he solved it using a different extractor. You can refer to that video and find the comment. Someone even explained why it happened
Yeah I discussed that in one of my tutorials. Sometimes when you apply main.fx, it doesn't automatically apply material_2.0.fx to your model To fix that, go to the MaterialMap Tab and manually apply material_2.0.fx to your model. If you want to see how it's done, you can check my "Ultimate Ray-MMD tutorial for beginners" tutorial in my channel
I haven't encountered this but I assume its either your pc can't handle the process or there are missing dll files that needs to be installed for ray.x to run on your pc. Maybe try a lower version of ray-mmd like 1.5.1, 1.5.0, etc and see if it works in those versions
hello, im having a bit of a hard time loading up the ray.x thingy, whenever i load it up it will say failed to reset mmd and close mmd completely, is there a way i can fix it?
It might be that your pc can't handle the process or some .dll files required for MMD are missing EDIT: Upon searching, I found this: github.com/ray-cast/ray-mmd/issues/121 It says ray.x works in lower version of MMD. Might be a compatibility issue with your pc I also found this: www.deviantart.com/faukataa/art/MME-error-failed-to-reset-MME-REPAIRED-779235049
Can you help me? I have a problem with the lighting manipulation. My time of day i set to x(+0.1), y(-0.1), z(-0.3). My sun with optical flares is at the back of my model but apparantly my model is too dark. My question is, how to properly set my model to be bright? I dont want to move my settings on light manipulation because the sun flares will not be visible. Is there anything that I can do? I want to show it with a photo but I dont know your social media.
You can put another light source in front of your model and make it not so bright but just enough so it won't make the model look dark then hide it from the scene just like in this tutorial but don't let it follow the model just hide it
when loading the Ray.x it says Failed to create texture? then it looks nothing like the video at all it looks like. I'm assuming My other issues are linked to the Ray.x file not loading cuz everything will just go black
@@theweebdev so itloads Ray.x when I delete in reload but now I kind of have issues with the sky box effects cuz it will render the face lik your modal but not the rest of the body???? ;v; Ill probably mess with it to try and fix it
Everything was going great, after about half an hour I got to the assigning the spotlight to the head bone- and there isn't one! Yours goes Null_20 Head Null_21, mine goes null_20 Null_21.
That's because I changed the name of the head bone to "Head" so its easier to understand what bone I picked in this tutorial since using different model will generate different bone numbers. MMD randomly assigns again null numbers to other bones when you changed the name. You have two choices here so you can locate the head bone of the model. Either: One is going to PMX Editor and locate the head bone there and change its name to "Head" like what I did or Two, when I was new and don't know how to use PMX Editor, I assign the bone one by one to the target bone until I get the correct head bone. Usual the head bone is around null_30 to null45
@@theweebdev Thankyou! In pmx editor, I click the bones tab and it displays Japanese names I look out for 頭 which means head, then vhange the namebox to English and type in head. Leaving the namebox on English I can scroll the list and see what bones have English names . Interesting, I hadn't realised, if I put mmd into Japanese mode, then all the bone names appear, and I could just select 頭 The kirakira controller has named functions, not blanks. How odd, I would have thought it would use English if they were there, and display the Japanese if they weren't. Anyway, thankyou for the tutorial, it is a great help. Now for kirakira.....
@@martinlayton8959 tbh I don't know that there is a function to put MMD in Japanese mode that's why I'm renaming it in english in pmx editor haha thanks for the info
@@theweebdev Never mind, got it fixed. Now my issue is when I select anything other than the camera there are random colors on my screen even at the start when I add the skybox these colors appear.
The music: kinda serious? The doggo: .... Lmao Edit: thank you lmao I just did that spotlight thingy and then was wondering how to make it invisible thanks a lot
@@theweebdev I managed to download it, but I had to download all the effects on the list, downloading them one by one didn't work for me, but at least it worked once I chose to download them all at once. Thanks for the tutorial, everything worked perfectly 😘
ah I mean the reason your model has no texture is that when you extracted it using winrar, it changed the name of the textures since sometimes it can't understand Japanese/Chinese characters. For example, the texture assigned in your model is 体 but after extracting, winrar changed it's name so it was not recognized by the model as its texture. To summarize, try downloading the model again and extract it using a different extractor. Like I said, go to my kirakira tutorial video and in the comments section, there's a discussion there with the same problem as yours.
