Honestly, I think the table conditions change my technique more than the shot itself sometimes, ESPECIALLY when drawing the ball. On new/clean/slick conditions, a level cue works just as well as an elevated cue because there’s so little friction, it doesn’t require a more powerful stroke, and the ball just slides on the cloth easily. However, on old/dirty/grippy conditions, an elevated cue might be necessary, not just for power, but because you’re going to cause the cueball to jump off the table a little, then skip along the cloth towards its target. This means there’s less time that the cueball is in contact with the cloth, so the friction between the ball and the cloth doesn’t impact the amount of rotations the cueball is getting as much as with cleaner conditions.

Really? The best training videos? Training how to shoot a easy duck shot? I browsed through a few videos and i swear they shoot that ball in the corner in every one of them. lol

Gravity , if the cue fall down you might be have a bit of speed more for the gravity help....of corse a minimal angle 😉

Years ago I went with a straight back leg on my stance and result caused me to not be level when shooting and took years before i figured out why I couldn’t make a shot 😅

I have issues with too much elevation on draw shots too. It's a bad habit I got into, I had issues with over draw and began elevating to reduce the draw. To the point where if I needed/wanted 2 or three inches of draw on a reasonably short shot, I'm striking from 45 degrees. Another player called me out on it last night after I left myself on a rail with a completely failed draw due to over elevation and lack of follow through.

There one thing that needs to keep in mind is Most taller people will stand up a little higher. Shorter people will be more leveled. But some shorter people tell me I don't want to hit that table on the follow thru. So they tend to jack up .. There was a old friend that told to learn how to level out your cue , is to place down on the rail first and lean in towards the shot .. this will help ..

I agree with you and it's super true. I'm like 5'9, 5'10 and there are taller players than me but lots of people I play against are shorter than me and they can be more levelled than I am because if I'm super super levelled to the table I just feel uncomfortable. My friend who is shorter than me and is a better pool player than I am told me I need to be levelled because I was shooting elevated I did fix it

Nobody should ever worry about a cue thats too level period , its your grip or follow through . Elevating the cue for draw is not a good habit

I've found that most people say they wish they could do this or that but won't put in the practice to learn it.. The people that really want to learn will...

I always tell people you want to go out of thw cueball thw same way you went into it . But I do have a question, if a person has a high elbow which I am envious of , isn't that gonna create mire downward striking and unlevness

For me, it's all about personal preference and WHAT GETS RESULTS. Watch matches of the great Earl Strickland. He totally defies what I was told on draws to get bridge and butt as low and level as possible. He elevates butt end on most shots.....can he ever draw the cue. Do what works for you.

Not levelling your cue also makes you not hit draw but makes you scoop the ball

I would like to see the height of butt with a tape measure so you have a better way to see if your cue is in the right angle for different shots.

Stay calm, play for joy and not results and simplify the game and training as much as possible (same as I do and teach) Use a ladder system (easy to more difficult) in all your training Learning mind on Be proud of your grit and strong will 💪❤️💪
