I apologize but I'm not actually particularly good at Touhou or bullet hell games in general 🙃Best I managed is beating Touhou 13 on Hard and Touhou 17 on Lunatic with Youmu + Otter (cheese)
Heyy, one question: Why don't you try them with Evo Plants? (evolved ones). You used like 1 of those in one episode and we never seen them again. Maybe the Evo plants will make some of those levels beatable.
Targets and Newspaper Zombies are worse anyways Edit: at least the Lawnmower Zombie from Brutal EX but returning as a Football Zombie isn't a thing (that would truly make the Brutal EX one feel like an Explorer in comparison)
@@123qazxsw no it doesn’t count, you can easily destroy vases and doesn’t block your plants, an octo zombie equivalent would make it so that their projectiles block your plants
RCCH, I watched the Schrodinger’s Zombie segment of the vid pretty much exclusively, and as someone who has beaten the level twice, without widescreen, both with mowers used and NLL, there’s a good bit I have to say on the level. - The initial strategy of 1 Melon-pult per row is already correct in beating this level, main reason I think you failed, based off of the footage, is incorrect execution. Here’s some of the things I think you could use. -Utilize hotkeys, they help you place plants faster. While they may seem useless, against zombies such as Newspapers, it makes it easier to react to them and place plants appropriately. Plus. if you save even 1/25th of a second per hotkey use, that adds up over time, and those seconds can be vital in killing Angry Dancers. You may also use autocollect to reduce the stress on your fingers, I did do that for my run, but I think it’s not needed, additionally I also did not use any sort of pause buffering in my own run, so you may use it too. -Early-game, buy rake and be aware of Evo Sun-shroom’s cooldown. Rake helps defend wave 1 by a lot, removing stress on a whole lane, which means less sun spent on Potato Mine and other instas, and a better economy. As for Evo Sun-shroom, it has a fast enough cooldown for you to plant a Tall-nut on the 6th column on wave 1, which is very helpful incase of a wave 1 Newspaper spawn. -Plant extra Tall-nuts in the early game. Placing 1 column on the 6th column is insufficient, I recommend 2 columns on columns 6 and 7, and if you have extra time or sun, place more on the 8th column. You can never have too many Tall-nuts. -Use Blover to clear the path for Melon-pults. If a zombie sneaks past your frontmost, non-laddered Tall-nut, Blover the corpse back as soon as possible. Do this for Imps too. Overall, not much else I have to say on the level, if you wish to return to it you can watch my 2 runs of the level on my channel to see the intricacies of my completion. I literally spent less than 3 hours first completion and less than 1 hour and 10 minutes for NLL afterwards. Also, as for the Bullet Hell minigame, I don’t think ShyGuyMask can do it lol, I feel even the best bullet hell players might not be able without pausing, it’s way too long and too many Cob shots later on.
@@coengrutter "NLL" is a term in tower defense games, and usually means "No lives lost." Though I'm assuming that this is referring to the lawnmowers, since they kinda act as your lives, so it means "No lawnmowers lost" instead
the different things you did in this video compared to all the others make it a LOT more enjoyable. the editing for example. really looking forward to the evo plants videos (PS. I've watched all the streams and these videos are still a delight)
at this point I want to make Dumb Strategy a actual term in tower defense games, or just games in general Make it mean like "a strategy where you spam or otherwise use a mechanic that directly bypasses the challenge of a game"
that's a terrible definition lmao it's not that it's overpowered, it's that it completely avoids dealing with the challenges of the game something like placing a road really far up in poly bridge, and letting it drop to launch the car across is a dumb strategy because you're not building a bridge
it's called the dumb strategy mostly because you can put doom shroom anywhere on the board and still kill everything, not because it directly bypasses the challenge of the game itself
It looks too easy to be Touhou. The only hard thing is the terrible hit-boxes. Us bullethell players are terrified of bad hitboxes, they can easily mess up your gameplay.
@@raphaelwijaya4928 His next game should be about a zombie causes a great incident for waging a war against a plant youkai for simply defended her home, lol.
5:06 intersting story: i was daydreaming once. This was one of the levels. But it was way less harsh since i think you could see the first lane. And i had acces to magnet shroom (probaly) night roof fog. No pool. It is tough. But i beat it. Of course. My head hurted. I had to do study as well as simulate a game on a human brain. It wasnt just one level. The whole section was like this.
9:34 To be honest, it's quite easy by the standards of arcade danmaku shmups, you control with the mouse, which gives incredible mobility, which even with broken hitboxes, simplifies the gameplay too much. For comparison you can take a look at Akron's Bullet heaven 2 on heavenly+ difficulty, in this game you also control the mouse, the only difference is that the characters have their own speed and fly a little slower than your cursor, which means that the controls are this game is even more difficult, but even so, there are a lot of players who were able to defeat him, and the boss himself is not even close to the most difficult by shmups standards. If you want someone to complete this mini-game honestly, just ask Jaimers about it, he will probably do it in one evening.
@@olixx1213 "Definitely is way harder then it looks Broken hitboxes and rng makes this really annoying" Well, I didn’t deny that this is more difficult than it looks, however, if you look at more footage of attempts to complete this mini-game, it becomes quite obvious that only some of the shells have broken hitboxes, so that this aspect can be called exaggerated. And as for rng, well, this, as it were, cannot even be called an argument in favor of complexity, the same above-mentioned Bullets heaven 2, I completed about 150 hours, during which time I mastered the entire game on heavenly, besides, I overcame some bosses with Heavenly + with a handicap of +30% speed, I can note that according to my feelings, about 80% of all patterns are similar to absolute rng, I very often found myself in a situation where, due to rng, the game simply did not work chance to dodge, Akron is no exception. When I finished with the main game and completed a couple of bosses with handicaps, I decided to try to defeat Akron at heavenly + 30% speed, in 44 hours of trying I only reached wave 10 once and then I barely did it, after which I lost the save file and therefore decided to temporarily leave this idea, at the moment I am grinding the kaizo patch on Touhou 15, as soon as I finish with it I will return with a vengeance to Akron. So, based on my experience, I can agree that this is more difficult than it looks, but in reality it is extremely overrated. As far as I know, in the original brutal ex, although the mini-games looked inaccessible to the player, they could still be played before completing the main game, if with this mod it’s the same and I don’t have to go through the entire game to unlock the mini-games, then I could try to pass it.
@@EGWstg bullet heaven don't have a lot of rng reliant pattern, like 80% are either static, aimed or a mix of both Also yeah rng is REALLY Bad here, it's comically likely to just get walled by stuff like cobs and just die, especially with how long the later part becomes
@@olixx1213 "bullet heaven don't have a lot of rng reliant pattern, like 80% are either static, aimed or a mix of both" I'm certainly not sure, but in my opinion you haven't played Bullet heaven 2 at all if you think so, there are very few openly static patterns in this game, and rng is used in one way or another in most patterns, like static + rng, aimed + rng, but you can say that similarly in this game there are very few patterns consisting 100% of using rng, but I meant in general the rng factor in this game and how, I said it felt like about 80%, because if I had to compile a list of patterns where rng is used and where it is not used, a list of patterns using rng element would be much larger. "Also yeah rng is REALLY Bad here, it's comically likely to just get walled by stuff like cobs and just die, especially with how long the later part becomes" I'm not sure if it's worth answering this, since I already said that the same thing happened with me in Bullet heaven 2, the game often just put up a wall of bullets and I just couldn’t dodge.
@@Octol1ng if it takes up the screen for no reason it's cluttering the screen, it's not like anime subs where it doesn't take up much, it usually takes up almost half of the screen here
I am suprised that there was only 3 non bugged as intended impossible levels. also it makes not to do it but I am impressed that even an heavily jank bullet hell was done in PZ1 modding, theres no way it happened but the tohou music use does make a tohou leve lappearing kind of funny.
Hey, glad to see the channel's been doing better and getting the views it deserves! Hope you're enjoying the journey so far! Always lovely to see PvZ content
schrodinger's zombie would probably be a bit better with pumpkins, as it could work as a removal for both ladders and corpses, sadly it isnt even given to you (also damn thats some rng bs)
11:43, I'm all up to try and beat that challenge... But if i have to beat adventure to unlock that ain't no way am doing it sadly but I'm just saying this is possible a 100%
It's not Brutal Mode if it doesn't have a few impossible levels (yeah I know it's not actually named brutal mode gimme a break) Edit: 2:38 You'd need INSANE luck with Dancer Coneheads to beat this one (maybe going with all variants could be a bit better here for once, also all Zombies' HP are cut in half)
funnily enough unnamed isn’t even coded off of beta mode from my best knowledge, i think rcch said it was made off of beta ex but i don’t think it’s true, both mods don’t seem alike in terms of scripting, if unnamed creator really did use beta as a base, he’d basically be coding his own mod with barely any framework lol
@@yadfssg Yeah true. Unnamed sort of feels like it's a little more polished But that might just be the fact that the variants aren't overly cursed and/or the variants themselves don't straight up replace their base Zombie
Except for 5-10, 7-5 and Snake (Both being completely glitched), it feels like the rest of these minigames (at least the ones that are unfairly hard, except for Bullet Hell) were actually tested, but using the 50 Sun meta and not the 25 Sun one, which might be the reason for why they are nearly impossible to beat. Yes, this includes Wall-nut Bowling as well, since the 50 sun meta, applied to conveyor belt levels, speeds up the conveyor belt.
Right, I forgot he made the game purposefully harder on himself. Makes me think that all levels he beats that "need" the dumb strategy are a problem caused by him, not the game.
@@bluemaster75 It's actually both, and issue of RCCH, and the developer(s) of the game, since the 50 sun meta is optional, and at least most of the adventure is beatable that way (Demonstrated by RCCH). RCCH for purposefully using the 25 sun meta, but to be fair for him, he wanted to make it actually challenging, since the game becomes drastically easier on the 50 sun meta, still very hard, but not forcing you to spend 50 hours beating a single level. And the developer(s) of the mod, given how they probably only tested the game on the 50 Sun meta, and leaving the option of using the 25 sun meta without fully testing if it was beatable that way. (There are more issues, as proven in the video with the 5-10 Crash and how insanely bugged 7-5 and Snake are.) The mod is (almost) completely beatable on the 50 sun meta, if we exclude the clearly impossible ones, regardless of how many suns you're gaining. Not to offend RCCH, he plays very good, even if he feels forced to use the Dumb strategy each time there's a level physically impossible to play in any other way due to the 25 sun meta (and Doom Shroom being Doom Shroom).
@@bluemaster75no offense, but... "too hard? play on an easier difficulty setting lol" isn't a very good argument tbh. even if there are devs out there who outright admit they didn't design their hardest difficulty settings with the intention of being fair or balanced.
@@gotekeeper9519 This is like complaining that a difficulty that isn't at all balanced for the game is unfair. That's like if I were to complain that PvZ1 is too hard without using sunflowers. If you purposefully challenge yourself, it is, in fact, a good argument to tell you that you made a poor decision. A mode added in for absurd difficulty and lack of testing, when advertised as such, removes any validity of someone complaining it's too difficult or forces a strategy. You willingly took the challenge, you must deal with your decision.
I remember how somebody made a "PvZ x10 speed challenge" video, said "whack a zombie" was impossible, and OSU players showed up to do it first try, I wonder if it's the same with Bullet Hell
How about a "rematch" vid, where you allow yourself to use the evolved plants to beat the levels you had to use the dumb strategy for? You could go "I allow 1 evolved plant slot, and if its still impossible, I allow 2, if its still impossible I use 3" and try to keep it to a minimum
I mean in all by oneself, remember that a dancing conehead spawn 4 additional backup dancer upon death that's 25 suns compare to 2 basic with 10 suns? I think it would be possible to beat it if the game send enough of them into the lawn.
i dont think so. you'd need to unlock threepeater before the 2nd flag to have a chance at even surviving because of gargantuars. so you need like maybe 20 of them which is kinda ridiculous because only 1/9 of coneheads are dancing coneheads.
@@RCCH I understand that, spawning 80 dancer conehead before gargantuar spawn is a very rare case, it's hypothetically possible but only in a extremely lucky circumstances, possibly even rarer than only getting Explode-o-nut in Wall-nut bowling.
Well well well, now i got more info about this and i wanna try to beat the bullet hell, but i need the mod and the game so yeah, this gonna take a while
im also doing a playthrough of this mod but im playing it on 1.2.5. your version is definitely more balanced, cattail is way WAY overtuned (it now has infinite pierce) cactus now also has really solid pierce, and potato mine works on zombonis. also grave buster gives back sun. i havent unlocked everything yet but the rest seem the same. also you can type 'sun' for double sun and type auto for autocollecting items
Potato Mine always worked on Zombonies And Cattail I feel like it wasn't intended, it's way too OP to be legal (possibly the modder didn't think that any buff to Cactus would also mean it's also a buff to Cattail since they share the same projectile)
"No one wants to play Touhou in PvZ" The entirety of PvZ community in China seems to disagree lmao I've seen bullet hell implementations in so many Chinese PvZ mods/fangames it's crazy. By the way, do you have any plan after Brutal Mode EX+? If not, I suggest either Phantom Flame Flower (PvZ GHtr)or Parallel Territory (PvZ GhTr) both are insanely well made mods and have difficulty selector. Play those on impossible difficulty and you'll have a fun time, I promise!
The bullet hell level actually looks fun, or at least that's what i think, i see it better than spending months on a shitty design level or a cattail/doom shroom spam level
9:40 | Could angry dancing zombies be countered with the zombie eater plant? I know that might cut economy down, but could save lawn mowers for the end.
Steve loves bullet hell games, Would love to give a shot to the challenge. However, my issue remains that I have no computer and I have no idea how modding works to even get brutal mode ex + in the first place.
Would the Touhou level be easier with keybinds that move your projectiles instead of having it be on your mouse all the time? Maybe the mouse is a bit too slippery.
RCCH talking how bullet-hell level is so hard Meanwhile undertale fangames fans, and the binding of isaac on mods fans: you fool, I could beat this with my eyes closed
I beat all the terraria modded bosses no damage. Im good at bullet hell games. But I aint playing that level again unless someone got my mother held at gunpoint
