Thank you for this concise video and wonderful explanation. I tied my first peep using this exact method and it looks awesome but, more importantly, it is the most rock solid installation of a peep sight I have ever seen. I plan on reinstalling the peeps on my other bows because I guess the shops that did those did not do it well.
the important step I found is when your doing the loops is just before and after the peep make sure you cinch down a loop just under and above the peep so it cant slide up and down the bowstring Also have your couple wraps around the peep tight!
At 0:56 during the sped up section I think I missed a step...it looks like there is an additional step where you change the direction of the tag end on the top serving and lay it up the string then serve under it? Also, right around 1:27 when you're wrapping around the slot in the peep it looks like you do something with the serving material then cinch it tight but it's hard to see what happened with the camera angle. I'm pretty new to working on my own bow, so maybe some more experienced bow technicians out there could explain. Thanks!
Yes, they must have edited out that step. It goes from showing the tag end facing forward to all of a sudden it's back behind. After making four wraps or so, pick up the tag end and lay it the opposite direction (facing backwards). Continue with another four wraps or so and this will leave the tag end protruding from the middle of the finished wrap. Snip it close and burn it off clean.
Nice one, how to install the peep after the simple peep with Tubing? As it will rotate. Do you rotate it 90 degree before installation? Or put on a turning peep pieces? Cheers
Is that a Radical super 38 peep and do you always go with colored peeps? I have always used a black peep but they do tend to fog out in low light conditions. Thinking about switching to orange or pink
good morning. just wondering where you buy your target archery products. i am a target archer, and have been for 40 years. Most, if not all of the shops only cater to hunters, have to buy most of my target archery products on line. are there any target shops, anymore. by the way I met you at a Lancaster shoot seveal years ago. plerase advise. Hi I notice when I correct set a pip-sight at home and I went to shooting range pip rotating. From my observations the reason of this is ambient temperature because when I return to home everything is ok. My bow is carbon icon. Is anybody has similar problem??
ramirez24ish NEVER use braided fishing line. It is too harsh and will break your string. Lesson learned the hard way lol. My string broke at full draw!!
Would love to see a video with you tying a trio peep. There are 0 videos available about that. I'm not sure how to cross the line from one side of the peep to the other as there are no slot in the peep. Maybe just tie each side individually without connecting?
If that is too much work, then someone else should be tying your peeps in. I have been tying them that way, but with waxed dental floss as serving for over 35 years. There is a reason to go up both halves of the string, and to wrap around the peep itself. They also put that groove in that peep for a reason.
