Same some dude at 500 knew knight and bishop checkmate so he underpromoted to knight and continued with mate and offered draw before checkmate, but I was quick and took it
Same here, but I played on mobile back then and that way it was easier to accept it as quick as possible... People really have to anticipate such things xD
One of my opponents tried to do this to me once. He started being rude in the chat when I blundered a piece after miscalculating a 4-move tactical combination. I didn’t resign because I was curious to see how he would continue trolling me. I ended up having no pieces left and running my king around the board being chased by 6 rooks. When he cornered my king and had checkmate in one he paused for a few seconds, and that’s when I knew what he was going to do. He had around 8 minutes left on the clock, and he was impatient throughout the game so I knew he wasn’t going to waste the time and wait until the very last second to checkmate me. I immediately moved my mouse over to the right side of the screen and started frantically clicking where I thought the draw offer would appear. Indeed he did exactly what I was expecting him to do. He offered the draw and I took it within a millisecond. Got me from 2398 to 2400. He probably threw his computer out the window after that.
technically the draw is a usable tool since its giving your opponent more things to think about, however it becomes ineffective if used too much, which is why you must choose select times at when you want to offer a draw
One time I played in the league with 3 other friends OTB and before the game we agreed that all of us would play their first and offer a draw simultaneously. Needless to say it threw our opponents off.
that was totally justified! I don't think that a 2500 elo player didn't see that their queen was hanging 5 times (without stalemate tricks) even if they were at 5 seconds... so, yeah, Levy is lawful evil
I find offering draws is a good way to tilt my opponents and I can very often come back from that (in proper tournament games, not 1000 rated blitz matches where my opponent would hang their queen anyway). Like, I've beat 2000 rated players doing this
Haha yesterday I was crushed by someone in a bullet match and he had like 20 seconds and i had 3 seconds remaining And this dude thought he would do the bad manners offer me a draw and then checkmate , but he forgot " Don't teach daddy how to make babies " And he gave me a draw and me legit accepted it in 0.1 seconds and proceeded to checkmate him in next 2 games without even offering draw That was like one of the best day of my life lmao
He was able to attack the queen with the pawn while also having a discovered attack on the bishop. So the opponent takes the pawn, but you get the bishop.
@@orion0716 or he could had seen it and retreated the queen to guard the bishop by going up one square. but since i seldom see beyond the initial move am sure if he tried that levi would have a counter ready. Best guess if those center pawn will ben issue he can use to exploit white weaknesses.
i love accepting draw offers when i know im winning. like elo? just a number. i could be up two queens and opponent thinks its a draw! it is, of course. not because i cant mate, but because it's funny.
The irony here is that when someone has bad manners in the comment section, you give them the pin of shame. So maybe you should reconsider your comments moving forward so you don't come off making oxymoronic comments.
