As a life-long fan of country music and long-time writer and performer, his description of country music and Vince's voice are spot on! hahahaha My doctor looks like Lewis Black and it makes me laugh every time I see either of them.
I know this clip was posted 5 days ago but what I don't know is when it was recorded... Having said that I went to an Eagles concert in Brisbane, Australia in 2021 and Vince Gill was the replacement guitarist/singer for the recently (2016) deceased Glen Frey... I can only say that he was just FANTASTIC in his vocal & guitar expertise... Brilliant..!

Agree. But I can't pidgeon hole Vince Gill into "country western". There are 9 people that are called 'Eagles', and after the passing of Glen Frey, Don Henley gave Vince Gill an invitation to be one of them. That say's enough for me.

I recorded myself singing an Amy grant song on part of my mixed tape to hear how i sounded and someone at my local pool stole my walkman.... i was mortified that it would go around town. It never came up in any context. Thank god it was pre-cell phones!!!!
Lewis Black was on one show of The Big Bang Theory. The one where Sheldon and Wolowitz had a bet on what type of cricket it was. Lewis played an entomologist that had lost his job at the University.
We visited my boomer in-laws last weekend and my mother-in-law mentioned the song Miami my Amy because my name is Ami. I said I like Pure Prarie League’s song, so she looks it up on her smart TV and plays the RU-vid video. I asked her did she know that was Vince Gill? Long story short they did not know that. I’m playing this next visit, but I’ll totally skip the first part.

Odds are if you have a radio on long enough to any station that is not classic rock, you've heard Amy Grant and didn't know it. She's - just - Amy - Grant. I can't think of anyone to mention as a comparison and I'm not an avid fan by any means. It's just that I've never changed channels and I change channels when I hear a lot of crap on the radio of any genre.
If it makes you feel any better, Lewis, when Amy Grant divorced her husband and married Vince Gill it was a huge controversy and they were widely condemned.
Because, quite obviously, it was just lustful sins, doomed to end in misery and (another) divorce. Oh wait … no it wasn’t AT ALL: but all the criticism was just the typical, hypocritical “Christian” judgment of the lives of others!
I can't help but compare Lewis Black to George Carlin. Completely different approaches, but both deliver sublime philosophical messages that go far beyond a simple joke. I was fortunate to meet him outside of a comedy club in Sacramento in the early 2000s after his show, where I was drenched in sweat from laughing so hard.
I found out only a few years ago that Vince is a pretty funny guy. Look up here on RU-vid where Vince tells his dad that he’s about to meet Dolly Parton. Great story! There’s a few other videos of him telling funny stories as well. But yeah, I wouldn’t have scheduled Vince and Lewis to go back to back.

I would have arrived at the show really late, so I would have only seen Lewis Black's performance! The only thing worse than Christian music is being forced to listen to it!
