also here off the back on the Glasto performance. I liked him as a person from the social media funny stuff but wasn´t a fan of the music, because I´m old. Genuinely moved by what I saw at Glastonbury. I wonder how many other 26 year olds have his level of emotional maturity? I know I didn´t. Having listened now to some of the music, I get it. I hope he continues just being himself. With that level of talent I can´t help thinking of other artists like George Michael or Paul McCartney. But right now, take the time needed. As friend said, "when you´re going through hell, keep going".. you´ll get there in the end.

YES!!! It's very very scottish to be self deprecating in a humorous way. We are very rarely offended by anything. We know the difference between banter and actual hate. A lot of it is also protection. The way he described taking the power away from people by shitting on yourself first.

I’m so glad Lewis is talking about anxiety in depth. The dizziness and hypochondriac thing is my life. I’ve developed agoraphobia purely because of the dizziness that comes with my anxiety. I’m too scared to leave the house because I get dizzy, then I tell myself it’s just anxiety, but like Lewis said.. what if it isn’t and I actually do pass out? It’s a vicious cycle and I’m tired of it. The hypochondriac thing too.. I won’t even use a new shampoo because my mind can convince me that I’ll take a reaction to it and maybe die. It sounds so ridiculous but anxiety is awful but I’m so glad I’m not alone after hearing Lewis talking about his anxiety.
@serloinz

im exactly the same with the dizziness and anxiety.. ive had eye/ear/blood/brain tests and everything is fine.. so i can only think that the constant dizziness is from the anxiety.. had it for about 12 years now..it has ruined me just enjoying everyday life for the most part.. hate it.. but hearing other people say that anxiety causes dizziness it a bit of a relief .. are you dizzy all the time ?
@Haaaayley

@@serloinz I’m not dizzy all the time but it happens a lot when I’m not in my house, I’m usually worse when I’m in a shop or when I’m around people. If somebody speaks to me I feel dizzy and panic so I avoid socialising. Even if I’m out walking in the countryside and I see somebody, I get dizzy instantly. I don’t know if it’s the thought of them speaking to me or just anxiety about other humans. It’s a horrible thing to have to live with. Makes me feel trapped.

Lewis is so honest it is amazing! He does not realize how many people he has helped through his songs, honesty and humor. The fact that he was happy to get his Tourette’s diagnosis is amazing. I admire that since I worked with children with Tourette’s and I know how hard it is. Depression has been hard for me since Covid. I lost my mom, dad, father in law, aunt, and 4 friends. Such a beautiful open interview. As a 49 year woman who was diagnosed with complex childhood trauma, ptsd and hypochondria, I relate to Lewis experience as a child where you see your mum in pain and it somehow develops into becoming the clown in the family or for friends. I manage to find humour in most situations and love making people laugh, but the down side is when you’re alone and how drained you feel and fearful that something bad is about to happen every second of each day. People would never guess I have all these conditions and it’s definitely a self coping mechanism.

My Dad has always been a catastrophiser too always thinking of the worst elaborate scenario before it even happens which has passed to me. Even being aware of it i struggle to stop it. I struggle with health anxiety similarly too although i think this was offset by my son having an undiagnosed rare disease for 6 months with no health professionals taking my concerns seriously. Once he was diagnosed they apologised to me and said it is a leading cause of SIDS which sent me into a spiral completely unhelpful i worry for myself and everyone around me constantly. It can be truly exhausting. So glad Lewis has been getting help for the struggles he has. Great guy 💖

Over explaining and justifying too is another big thing, and it's always mentioned to me that I go into things too much and explain too much... Never really thought too deeply about certain things but a lot of what he is speaking about is traits of myself which is very tough to come to the realisation of... I met Lewis a few years ago and he's just such a lovely lad. Love his music and the emotion he puts in the songs. Lewis, don't ever feel like you have to write anything for people. You are writing it for you. From the heart. That's why the sogns have such a beautiful emotion and lyrics. It comes from you. You are amazing. Don't second guess yourself. Amazing interview. Thank you! 💙💙

I love how much Steven was laughing and smiling in this conversation. The whole thing just had a way more relaxed vibe than other episodes. I also love that this was filmed before they installed the black wall lamps next to the guests head, they are so distracting. And of course, Lewis was super relatable, interesting and funny.

Lewis is such a nice person. All the negative self talk and self flagellation is so common in people with anxiety. Cause or effect? Panic attacks are so exhausting. One of the great things about him is he is so open, and feels like a friend. He is one of life gorgeous people.

having followed lewis since 2017 and having seen him live first in july 2017 it's amazing to see how this journey has been. I loved the more insightful questions in this interview that is deeper than his joking self in the quick radio interviews you always see around. I honestly cannot wait for the next chapter and hopefully many more live shows for me :)

It was just refreshing watching and listening to him. Knowing someone else goes through all this anxiety and hypochondriac stuff just like me. I always fear something being wrong or feeling I’ll. i would love to speak to someone like this and have someone in my life like him to go through this stuff together. Knowing I know understands it all and it definitely makes you feel alone ❤

I go through the exact same on a daily basis and it can feel like torture sometimes. I also don’t really know people who go through it and it can feel isolating. But it seems that there’s lots of people like us and we are not alone😊

Very interesting hearing Lewis talk. I beat my own anxiety by changing the way I talked to myself and others, it took years to learn. Being negative to yourself (even joking) and to others, you eventually start to believe it, changing your mindset, only telling yourself positive things/having an awareness of how you talk, stopping the process of negative thoughts when you’re with family and friends, again you eventually start to believe the things you’re saying and it’s more beneficial for those things to be positive as opposed to negative. I lost friends by adopting this approach but it was absolutely worth it and changed my life

The fact that he walks into pubs and thinks people don’t like him is crazy. I’ve not spoken to one person who doesn’t think he’s immediately likeable, hilarious and down to earth. I’ve been to see him live and it was incredible, and his personality is what found it’s way to me before his music did. The music is just an added bonus 😂

I so relate to Lewis Capaldi. My 1st memory as a child ( after finding my dad's post-suicide body at 4) was at the age of 7, sitting in my room doing homework. Our neighbors kids were playing outside, and I distinctly remember thinking 'how nice to hear kids laughing' I suffer from anxiety, PTSD and survivor's guilt. The past two years of my life was spent in a highly functioning fugue state, and most days are spent idealistic death/dying. Despite this, I have held highly paid management positions, and completely addicted to various prescription psychiatric drugs. I am exhausted more often than not, but Lewis, as a youngster, gives me hope. ❤

Wow, what an interview, what an interviewer! You really opened Lewis up, with your gentle way, voice, and questions,………Lewis keep chasing the answers on yourself and to your help your health and mental health, because we the common people, and us filled with anxiety, need someone like you to put into words in a song how we feel. Scotland loves you, listening to you speak is like myself trying to explain to others how I feel and where my heads at. Anxiety is no joke 😢 it affects all areas of your life, so much so that I question how people think about me. I take panic attacks a lot 😢😢😢 thank you 🙏🏼 both for this little gem.

I too had suffered with panic attacks and anxiety after a life event that hit me hard. The anxiety & worry was so bad it was absolute misery. The twitching, nervous shaking, I couldn’t breathe, and it caused so much pain in my legs all the time. They ached relentlessly. It was wrecking me. Finally I got the right medicine after a few different doctors and tries over about a year to find the right combination and it’s all completely gone now. It’s been 3 years, but a horrible experience and life at the time. So glad you’re talking about it and you’re overcoming it too.

Well done on just being an honest and interesting human. Steve well done on being able to sit there and just listen and give a platform to really get to see your guests being honest and interesting, without all the promo and media bullstuff. Always like the music I hear from Lewis on the radio so will be happy to hear more... Top bloke and keep doing what you enjoy until you don't, then find something else!!
