Lennox scared Bowe even more with this display. Bowe threw his belt in the garbage. Golota was no joke. Lennox was never respected because he wasn't American and he wasn't in Don King's camp. Lennox was always my favorite
Yes he staggered across the ring & was very unsteady, probably because it was early Cortez figured he'd give him the benefit of the doubt but he was done.
Lewis reminds myself of a heavyweight Tommy Hearns, good boxer with a great punch but was a little vulnerable himself. He certainly had a strong argument for being the best of his era, definitely up there with them.
Golota was thrown off his game in the build up with the emphasis on him to fight clean. Even Joe Cortez elaborate pre fight dressing room instructions. The pressure got to Golota.
Golota was legitimately knocked out, in fact the fight should have been stopped after the initial knockdown as Golota was staggering after Cortez completed the count, he obviously wanted to give him every chance of recovery but he was done. Golota was mentally fragile & would often quit when the going got tough, he bailed early with Tyson & threw in the towel after beating Grant for ten rounds, Bowe was another fight he should have won, a pattern which kept repeating itself, he did beat Ruiz but didn't get the decision but there we have it lol...
That golota was a nut job and I'm not even joking...he shouldn't have been fighting in my opinion... anybody who's been round people like that can spot one from a mile away 5:39
Golota was given a shot of lidocaine in his knee, which is a very safe drug & one which is used by a dentist prior to your having a filling or an extraction. Golota suffered with anxiety and panic attacks, which is probably more along the lines with what happened.
