The Mark Levinson Sound System on the GX470 sounds great but when a speaker blows, replacement options get very expensive. Furthermore if you have the navigation system, your aftermarket options are very limited and expensive.
In this video I will show you how you can fix a blown Mark Levinson Speaker with a replacement speaker foam kit for $25

Thanks! The kit I bought said nothing about removing the gasket cover. I didn't even realize it came off, because the screws are hidden behind the foam

I just commented on your DVD remote video and realized I used this video as a guide to repair my ML speakers on my 2006 RX400h. I used rubbing alcohol and lacquer thinner to remove the old gunk, with the latter being the more effective solvent. It came out a bit ugly due to excess glue application. It sounds amazing now! I had to lower the bass back to zero in the audio settings, as I was attempting to compensate for the damaged speakers. The repair has held up fine in the months since, even through some heavy testing. Thanks for taking the time to share your endeavors!

I was making the glue residue removal way harder than it needed to be with a razor blade and screwdriver. Should have watched this first. Going to try the alcohol and plastic scraper on the second one after watching. Thanks! Great video.

Is your subwoofer in similar shape? I know that for a number of years, the GX470 and Land Cruiser shared similar subwoofer enclosures, with the Mark Levinson subwoofer having a single high impedance coil (for a higher voltage amplifier) and the JBL one having dual low impedance coils (for lower voltage amplifier), but both had the same 6-1/2" diameter frame.

I'm looking at upgrading the head unit for '07 GX470 infotainment/DVD/GPS nav. Beat Sonic MVA-81 & head unit is a bit pricey. Any other options? Looking for head unit suggestions should I do the MVA-81 - suggestions? Top of the line with no CD/DVD/WiFi/USB required. How about using AUX input on OEM?

I was also looking for an upgrade to the head unit and almost bought one of those giant touch screens from alibaba, but decided I didn't want to spend the money. I also saw the beatsonic system like you said also pricey. I really like the sound of the mark Levinson system and wanted to keep it. I have a 2004 which does not have the aux input to the stereo but I do use a tape adapter connected to a Bluetooth adapter and that works great for streaming my music from my phone and cost only about $40. @@thegxdad2223 Thanks for writing. BT remains a PITA for the most part, and it's lossy. AUX-IN might yield something nice, but that'll be experimental. There's am adapter at half the price of Beatsonic, but it remains to be seen if it's high quality. There are other things to address, acoustic material in the doors is low hanging fruit. Its as though Lexus went out of their way to be difficult.

How long did it take you start to finish?

It took me a little longer because of filming but without filming I would say 15 min to remove the speaker, 30 minutes to clean up old foam and glue, 5 minutes to glue, let it dry overnight, then another 15 minutes to install per speaker. It was a lot less difficult and time consuming than I thought and the sound is great. One tip is to make sure when you center the speaker cone before gluing push on it to make sure it is centered and doesn't rub the voice coil.

How the hell did he get the 'gasket cover' off the frame so easily... mine will not separate so easily

Turns out they changed the glue formula and amount on 07 and newerGX ... this was absolutely not worth it to me. even valuing your time at a mere 30$/hr its way more cost effective to replace the speakers.
