@@jannecs Good for you Janne, I bought an IS 350 at the start of the year. Its a last of the gen 2 Nov 2012, March 2013 registered. It's the top of the range (in Australia) my neighbour loved it so much he bought a 2011 IS 250 himself and he loves it.
@@jasonp.l5817 my car has 190,000 miles on it Which seems like a lot but really isn’t. there expected to last from 250,000 to 300,000 miles. I saved up, it feels my whole life I’m 17 now
I'll tell everyone right now, if you're going for a 2nd gen IS, save up the extra $1000 and get the 350. Aside from having an extra 101hp (and yes, the power difference is night and day), the 350 has port injection which means you won't have the carbon build up issues on the intake valves like the diesel, Mini and BMW guys have. But back to the power, how many times can you say you spent $1000 to gain 101hp and suffer no MPG loss or driveability issues? I got my 350 and it's nice knowing i can play with legit sports cars like mustang GTs (up to 2011), 335i, 350Z/G35s, G37 sedans, genesis 3.8s, RT charger/challengers, V6 Camaros (09 and up) and V6 mustangs (2011 and up) and often times win. Meantime, with a 250, you're left playing with stock single cam civics, and celicas and worried you're going to lose.
@@zod548 cold how? Like snow/ice? AWD 350 versions were available starting in 2011. But I've taken my 350 into some light snow, even being stupid low and it did just fine.
@@Elver_Galarga_jugo yeah like snow and ice, I live in Maryland so it’s not like I’m getting blizzards every other week, but the occasional light snow and icy roads can come to play every now and then here , I want an is350 over a 250 badly , to be able to daily with , can’t find more than one 2011 one around me and it isn’t in my budget anyway
As a 2011 250 owner I can say it’s an amazing first car, not the fastest car ever but even the 250 can still play with vq’s and 335i owners so it’s still a really solid car for a first car
Alright, so with the rear suspension, after upgrading to adjustable coil overs clicking stopped, andddd with the slow shifts, you can turn up the pressure on your shift solenoids making it act like a dtc/euro and I’m ngl that’s the best thing I’ve done to this car yet was turn those up! It’s so much quicker to shift, granted i might run into bigger issues down the road due to this it does do what you want
My 08 IS350 has been the perfect daily. Sounds amazing, catches eyes, handles well, very quick, reliable. What more could you want? Other than a 6 speed manual of course
Owned a 2008 IS350 for 3 years, just upgraded to an 2008 ISF. The reliability is just unmatched. I might drive the ISF until the wheels fall off, there’s a 450k+ mile ISF driving around in the US and a 400k+ km ISF still doing laps on the Nurburgring. Need to get an LSD installed and really enjoy that amazing V8 japanese muscle
There is a couple things you can to make the automatic transmission faster, the main thing is just don't FLUSH the fluid, change the fluid but don't flush it
I own a 2008 Lexus IS250. No longer my daily driver as I use a 2018 Corolla now for that, but I kept my little Lexus because she’s fun and has served me well at 131k miles. I still drive it now and then because it’s still very fun today drive. Plus I have to admit, the fact that’s it’s a Lexus makes me feel a little bit status. But no I would need to most expensive Lexus for that, the LS sedan.
I own 2008 IS AWD, love it.. I did complete F-sport mods, the things that Mark talked about a minor accept the transmission it is slow off the line but on the freeway .. @ 100 - 120 car feels great rides very comfortable... this is 2008 model which dealer told me that its still a sought out car. its Toyota, maintain it and its runs for forever.
The dealer would tell you it could fly as long as you signed the dotted line. 2008 is nothing special, it's the last of the very first unface lifted models with zero updates versus the 09+.
2is350 Owner here, About the clicking suspension I havent had any issues (148k miles). One thing I would say is a common issue are the altenators and the tire pressure sensors. They seem to be going bad around this time for a lot of people but its a cheap repair.
Yea I have a 2010 is250 and I have no clicking on suspension. But I had to change my alternator and my tire sensor is out but then again I have 170k miles, still drives perfect tho
current 06 IS350 owner. Its funny you mention the lack of space in the vehicle, as i really didn't have much to fuss over when moving into a new house the other week. No rear suspension sounds. I have ac issues tho. you forgot to mention the infamous sticky/melting dash issue, otherwise you made me feel good about my recent purchase. If you or someone you know has one of these... Put them on to the "IS4 Gen front bumper swap on these" its like upgrading 5 generations on a 15 year old car.
I bought a 07 is250 as my first car for $4,500 and due to the previous owners neglect, the car has been nothing but problems but Im not gonna give up on it.
i love the thing but i do have issues with mine that weren't mentioned that you have to look out for (is250) -touch screen doesnt work (doesn't take input -flappy paddle's dont work -some persisting battery warning light (battery has been changed but im sure it may be an alternator issue , not sure whether its been changed or not tho but do be weirry) as long as u take care of these cars they really wont let you down. other than the issues mentioned above (and slow transmission when is sport) i have no other issues. really great car for the cheap
I didn’t make our first but I’m early. Hey Mark I’m a big fan love the vids I was hoping to get your personal opinion. Long story short i was in a accident and need to get a new car it was my first car (2000 honda accord) but now I’m not sure what kinda car to get next i wanted something fun and good on gas and i could possibly mod a bit too. I had a couple of options like 9th gen Corolla S, 8th gen civic, or Mazda speed 3 anything you recommend?? Thanks love the vids keep it up ❤️
Nice little video. On the looks, COME ON! they're gorgeous. I have a 2012 (MY13) IS 350 Sports Luxury in red Vermillion fire tri-coat with Sand (ivory leather interior). It's full house being a Sports luxury (92 k kms or 58k miles) and spectacular condition and gets looks as it's just mint condish!. As for the the rear boot/trunk space, it's great for it's size, im surprised that's listed as a criticism, it's actually a strength..I also own an 08 Accord V6 so I know what a big boot/trunk is!. Back seat space is actually good but I find the rear seat back a little too upright to be supremely comfortable (which my Accord is). At the end of the day its a rear wheel drive sporty -luxury sedan, not a family truckster. It's practical enough and I think of it (and call it) my four door (Nissan) Z.
What about a video on cars that came with legendary motors like the 2JZ, VQ, and 4g63. And this is a good car. I got my wife one as her daily and she loves it
"cupholders are good"?. I have one dedicated cupholder in my 2IS - then a sketchy one in my felt/soft lined centre console.. and a closed bottle holder in the side door panels.. wouldn't say its a practical or Good set up - but as a driver who doesn't have a family in the car I'm comfortable.
There’s an additional cup holder in the center console. Also, you can fit an additional bottled drink on each side of the door panel so if you add it all up…. There are 6 potential drink holders within the vehicle…… i own a 2nd gen and i highly recommend getting one now before the market is dried up lol
The cupholders on my IS 350 are the most pathetic dogshit cupholders I've ever used. The one in the center council is shaped like a square, won't fit any mugs or most bottles (unless they're small OR SQUARE SHAPED!!) The center council cupholder is in the rear seat center council, because I decided I'd rather have the option to have the 3 things I put there fit, which isn't an option when half the center cousin is a glove box, and the armrest can't be used when the cupholder is in use with any kind of cup. The door bottle holders are only good certain small bottles the size of disposable ones, and the rear sear cupholder mechanism is so overengineered that they will not open OR close if the arm rest is at a 45° angle or greater. No the cup holders on the IS are not good. They also aren't safe by modern standards, when they retested it in 2012 it failed to get a 5 star rating. If a modern truck hits you dead on when you're not moving and they're going 40mph+ you're dead!! I've seen a video if exactly this also.
Is 220d tuned with 270 bhp and 510 nm, is much better and more joy to drive then a 250 or 350, and do not ruin you with fuel addicted engine...... 6.5 L/100 km..... In Miles? 😄👍
Just sold my IS350 for 14k CAD had a lot of mods. Imo, if you want a track car don't track a 350, it's expensive to make fast around a circuit and the transmission will let you down every single time. No matter how much you upgrade everything else the trans cannot be improved even with transgo kit. You need to have it built. Forget a manual swap it won't work unless you have heaps of money to be the guy who figures it out. Nonetheless it's a great street cruiser and looks great but the limit for most people on a budget is pretty low.
Engine is fantastic, very smooth and quiet and above all else very reliable. its pretty much bullet proof if looked after properly. Good for 400,000km+ only negative about the engine is fuel consumption isn’t great.
