The Cartune Company (2003) Ltd in New Zealand does 1uz and 3uz conversions / parts and wiring. We have been working on UZ Toyota V8 engines since 2004 when we did our own Hiace van to transport dirtbikes around NZ. Since then we have swapped to doing mainly just Lexus V8 work from a family owned farm hidden away in our paradise , surrounded by the NZ native bush. Just in time for the weekend :) Ute passed cert with no problems on Monday, Getting Vin for rego tomorrow, legal by end of week to drive. This maybe my friday night ready for weeknd fun!

I never understood why everyone complains about how hard the UZ starters are to change. They’re honestly easier to change than some traditional low mount starters. Plus it’s a good opportunity to give the intake a nice clean.

Are the valves supposed to be open when the car is off? I removed my throttle body and found the valves to be open when looking inside the intake manifold. Any help here would be awesome

It was stuck open, which was the last place I left it when diagnosing it last time.

Absolutely possible but given the age of the vehicles now I pretty much replace the intake gaskets these day, and I'm seeing quite a few cars with intake gasket leaks due to guys not changing the gasket the first time

@29:15 you state the radiator is still black, is that a coating? Original radiator in my LS400 has turned brown on the top end tank. No leaks, is that a issue?

The radiator tanks are a black plastic, as they age the plastic discolors, so if a radiator tank is brown, its well overdue for a replacement.

hi guys. been watching a lot of your vids these past few days. im about to put a 1uz fe in my Mazda Bongo. i have everything i need. was wondering if you could help me with the connections from my Mazda to the Lexus ecu? dont want to get anything wrong and fry anything. cheers. great videos and very informative.

I have wiring instructions for sale for the 1uz side of the wiring, then connecting to the vehicle is easy. Cheers

Is there a fuse for ACIS?

Yes, its on the same circuit as the purge solenoid, maf sensor voltage and oxygen sensor voltage so the car will have quite a number of non functioning items if its blown.

@@CartuneNZ damn, so it's probably the solenoid or the wiring is broken because I run it on/off with a tester and there is no clicking sound ...

Why don't you show how to take the starter out? The video says starter replacement but no repair was done. No help at all

Pretty sure the intake needs to be removed to access the starter motor. Once the intake.is off theres only two bolts left to remove the starter motor and the electrical cable which is basic remove and refit.and its in clear site.
