I know the video is a few years old but I was told by the dealer that the main function of that button was for stop and go in hill situations. If your on an incline and the car is in drive and let the brake go, the car will want to roll back. The HOLD button wont allow it to roll back. It'll release the brakes once enough RPM is reached to roll the car uphill again. But whatever is for, I call mines the Drive-thru Button. Living in South Florida, we dont have many hills. So DriveThru is the best place for my use. lol

I love this feature on my black pearl 07 LS 460. It's the first button I push after starting the car! A couple things I've discovered using this function... If you're at a stop using brake hold for say several minutes, maybe 5(haven't timed it) the parking brake will auto engage and you'll have to de activate the parking brake before moving forward, the display will inform you of that... Also, you must be wearing your seat belt to activate brake hold, and with brake hold active, if you remove your seat belt, brake hold is de activated and parking brake will auto engage. Great feature that will spoil you and I sorely miss it on my GX!

Thanks for this, I just got a 2007 LS460L (that I love !) and I saw this button and was not exactly sure on what it did. I have heard people saying it's the best features of the LS but, not sure. And no, I have not even looked over the manual yet. I will be activating this feature when I get in the car tomorrow.
Although I dont have the answer to your question. Imho the need or necessity for this is not enough to justify. Afterall..you only need to press the button on the steering wheel one time and will function as "always on" until you either hit the button to deactivate it or turn the car off.
