MV Garage hello I have a 2007 is250 my check engine light svc and traction control light is on does this method work with my vehicle?

lenny hernandez If you have a check engine light on then you need to fix that first and then the VSC will turn off.

Bie Ngosa You should install the clip with the car off. That’s what I would recommend. But should work either way since the plug has constant power.

I was just gonna ask about the same car. I just got the starter changed on my LS460 (08) and to my surprise I have these lights on the dash that weren’t there before. Did you use the same pins as mentioned in the video?

I just saw a video where a guy said cleaning the gas cap fixed the issue but that didn’t make sense to my. How would a loose gas cap affect the traction control? 🤷🏾‍♂️

@@TheLANDSQUID hey bro this just happened to my gx470 today along with not being able to shift out of park when I start the car I have to override the shift lock release to get it into drive. There was four lights that came on the abs vsc off vsc trac and anti skid. But they came on intermittently and did not stay on continuously for the entire trip just as I’m pulling off out of park and a few more times throughout a road trip but there is nothing wrong with my car it never effected performance. Did your lights ever back come back on after you reset if with with paper clip trick? And also were the lights coming up intermittently for you or did they stay on until you reset it?

@@ueray4 it worked but it was a temporary fix.. so I bought a code reader and I reset the alarm that way.... The alarm will come back on after about 10 miles of driving... Doesn't seem to have an effect on the car at all... Love my ride

Terrance Gamble yea if the check engine light is on that is why your VSC light is on too. Need to fix that first then the light will go off.

@@FlipITGarage the engine light isn't on all the time. When I clear the codes the engine light also goes off. its like the engine light comes on and the other two comes on behind it and then I clear the codes again.

Update... worked but then the light came back on. Tried the paper clip trick, lights flashed but then didn’t turn off. What’s next??? I just got new tires and rims

Sound like you may have an issue with one of the speed sensors. Did you ever figure it out?

Samson Wang Then is wasn’t just triggered. You may have a bad wheel speed sensor or something else. You’ll need to get it scanned. Let me know what faults you get I will try to help.

The VSC light in your situation is on because the check engine light is on. They go on together. I would start by getting the car scanned for codes and go from there.

got an 07 250 my self and they just came on after weeks of not having it. it came on once when i messed up my maf sensor reconnected and fixed it but seems to not be the issue now. did the paper clip method work?

PullMeSoftly44 Hopefully it works out for you. But just know whenever a check engine light comes on the VSC light comes on with it. I would look into the check engine light first. More than likely if you reset the check engine light the VSC light will go off.

@@FlipITGarage I tried your method several times hopping that it'll work but failed. So, I tried another method by disconnecting both terminal from the battery and wait several minutes before connecting them back an start the car, that finally solved my problem. The VSC and Chk Engine light went away.. Strange thing!! Thanks for the advice 👍

PullMeSoftly44 Yep. Disconnecting the battery will reset the check engine light. So the VSC light was on because the check engine light. If it does come back on you will need to get the check engine light scanned to see what the problem is. Hopefully it stays off!

You would need to get the code scanned for the check engine light it could be one of a hundred different issues. You can get it scanned for free at any auto zone. That was the door being opened thats why it was beeping

Yes, but that only works if you have a check engine light and the VSC light on. Usually doesn’t work if it’s just the VSC light.

Mitsu RT with my experience with LED strips. It’s either a power issue, poorly made led strip or yes it’s on its way out. If it was working good for a while and now doing that then yes it’s about to go out.

Terrance Gamble I’ve never tried it on the 4Runner but it should be the same procedure since I did this on a 2006 Lexus. Also on a 2018 Toyota. And it was the same. But I can’t say for sure on your vehicle. Won’t hurt to try. Let me know how it goes.

Emmanuel Tenkorang thanks correct. This only works for the VSC light on by itself. If you have a check engine light on that’s the reason the VSC light is on. You can clear that by disconnecting the battery for 10 mins.

Did you ever figure this out, I’ve read a gas cap, I’ve also read the wheel speed sensor replacement didn’t even work and new tone ring didn’t work

Definitely sounds like the alignment wasn’t done correctly if you recently did it. They usually cost between $80-$120. I would address the alignment issue before anything.

Tonight (after hours) I had my car towed to the Auto Shop that did the alignment & control arms to check it out since under warranty. My steering wheel was completely upside down and could do a complete 360 when attempting to drive it there. I couldn’t go over 40mph on the highway without car jerking left and right so I decided not to risk it. Terrifying! I can’t wait to find out the problem when they check it out in the morning. Thanks for the advice.

@@MahoganyBelle Yes, better to be safe. If it was there fault I would hope they cover the tow as well. Sounds like something was left loose. Let me know what they find.

@@FlipITGarage I’ll definitely update you with what that say. Hopefully, I can get reimbursed for the tow. I was out of $185. They did say if it’s their fault they will take care of it. Not sure why they didn’t offer to pay tow upfront, only a referral to one but I found my own.

@@FlipITGarage So as mentioned they worked on the lower control arm ball joints and did an alignment. The guy just called and said that the suspension pins were missing, and I don’t know much about cars but that sounds like a careless mistake. He said they put the suspension pins in and it’s working perfectly now. I’m on my way to get it and test drive it early just in case I have to take it right back. What are your thoughts on this? Does this sound right?

If there is no check engine light on with those. It should work. Doesn’t hurt to try.

Sometimes you have to repeat the procedure. Unless its a hard default then you need to address the issue.

pshaw34565 the check engine light is the reason your VSC Trac light is on. You’ll need to get it scanned. I would take it back to them.

pshaw34565 you can always reset the check engine light by disconnecting the negative battery terminal for 10 mins. But I wouldn’t recommend it. Since it’s something they must of caused. It will reset the data. Just bring it back to them and yes the check engine light could be a number of different things that may make it run rough.

Dirty transmission fluid Faulty line pressure solenoid valve SLU Line pressure solenoid valve SLU harness is open or shorted Line pressure solenoid valve SLU circuit poor electrical connection Torque converter clutch Valve body is blocked If you checked all those and replaced what you needed to did you clear the code ? Reset it with a scan tool or disconnect the negative battery terminal for 10 minutes. The VSC light is only on because the check engine light.

P L The “IS” may be a little different but the same procedure otherwise. This was on a GS model.

Henry Phillips Hi! Sounds like you covered all the basics. I would suspect a bad unit if everything is hooked up properly. I would swap it with another one to confirm. Also check all your connections.

@@FlipITGarage Fixed it! I was rite: The new used part on ebay was to blame! I only broke my clock spring not the SAS so worth a try I put my old SAS on the new clock spring and it worked first time! Re calibrated. No codes to clear because it was all happy. This all started because I was aligning the steering wheel to the rack for the correct amount if turns each way. Now I have done that job also needs major wheel alignment it was loose and way out! I hoped fixing this would also solve the serious brake judder but unfortunately it hasn't. This judder causes bad wheel bearings and drop links after 6 months it's so bad! New brakes all round also every bush and ball joint is good. New tyres and wheel balance. Drive / prop shafts good. On a Lexus is250. Any suggestions 🤔

Try the door sensor they have a tendency to fail. 84231-53010 is the Toyota part number.

😂 Permanent fix if it was just triggered by users fault. Temporary if you have a real issue that needs to be fixed first.

There is a check engine light on for the o2 sensor.

The check engine light being on will trigger the vsc light as well. When the check engine light is off the vsc light will go off as well. You can try resetting it.

Should be the same procedure. Won’t hurt the car to try it.
