Leylah's mantra for her career seems to be: to REFUSE TO GIVE PROFESSIONAL TENNIS COACHES THEIR DUE. Her game at this point is languishing in a realm where great tennis techniques don't see the light of day. I don't buy that she's not athletic, she's very athletic but she needs a great coach to recalibrate her game. Ash Barty retired. Why not inquire about the availability of her coach? He developed Barty into a complete player. Maybe ask John McEnroe to teach her his lefty corkscrew serve. Or his volley. A lot of great tennis minds out there.

Congratulations Dasha. She played extremely well especially in those key moments. She once again proved that she isn't a pushover. Both had chances, but Kasatkina used them bit better than Leylah Fernandez. This match was awesome. Daria Kasatkina in this match showed why she is former world #10 in women's singles. Hats off to Fernandez to forcing the match into the deciding tiebreaker. Leylah Fernandez too was so awesome, although she lost, but still her performance was great. Daria Kasatkina too played great. She was patient and tactical and in the end she outsmarted Fernandez. Leylah Fernandez could win tournaments if she will keep this up. Daria Kasatkina was super amazing. She all the time kept on believing in herself and that she can win, even when it seemed hopeless. So, Daria Kasatkina deserves this win, she earned it. She played great against strong opponent. If her opponent in last 16 will be Badosa, then she might need to play way better than today. Paula Badosa is after all on of the best clay court specialists on the tour right now. And overall Paula Badosa is one of the best female tennis players on the planet. Today Kasatkina played awesome. She fought hard and won.

She needs an additional coach someone with much more experience like a Darren Cahill. Her game has gotten too passive since the US Open. It seems like she's playing too safe and waiting for her opponents to make mistakes. That's not what took her to the US Open final. She needs to return back to US Open mode and start dictating, getting good court positioning, take the ball early and aim for more winners. Being a lefty should be an advantage which she's not fully taking an advantage of. She's not big enough to serve up aces like Osaka or Sabelenka so she should try to become the best returner in the game. A playing style best suited for her is Nikolay Davydenko. Not the biggest player in his days but he was quick A.F.
