Another long one today, was asked to overclock an ageing gaming rig to get a bit more out of it. Consider this an introduction to overclocking... We go through how to get started, what values to monitor, and what values to change. This isn't a master class, but with this method you should be able to get at least a modest overclock out of anything.

As for GPU overclocking best thing to do is just drag power limit to max as it does nothing but let the card pull more power if it wants to and won't cause instability. Change core clock with benchmark of your choice (I like heaven because it's quick to run and variable) and wait until it crashes. Then once it crashes boost Voltage or back it off until it doesn't. Change RAM until artifacting then pull it bad. Afterwards run Firestrike, Timespy, and Unigine Superposition and look for artifacts and see if it crashes as they're absolutely required and push way further than Heaven or Furmark. AMD cards are actually notorious for requiring the power limit to be maxed to get stock speeds out of them. As for memory if the card is quality and uses Samsung memory you can actually probably smash 500 in and it will be fine with some getting to 800MHz iirc. My friend actually runs a really heavy overclock on his Bios modded 980 Ti. _After_ he added thermal paste to bring the temps from 90C to 50C (It was an Asus card what do you expect?).

The top voltage is what you are actually giving the CPU, the voltage in the motherboard setting. The voltage in the CPU settings is what the CPU is asking for. This will increase as you up the frequency but the actual voltage will not change unless you up the voltage. I prefer to use the offset setting on this motherboard and keep all the efficiency settings turned on. I overclocked a 2500k on a very similar motherboard with good success. You should be able to go up to around 1.35v with no issues unless you have temp issues. I think these CPU's are soldered though as they are not peaky like the next gen.

Usually im all for cpu overclocking but im not fan of gpu overclocking, mostly because with cpu, you set up your settings in bios and if its rock stable it will be there all the time, everytime, no matter what OS you have or what you do in it. But with gpu oc its a little bit finicky imo, as you need to keep running msi afterburner in the background, also gpu has more sensitive parts like vram, gpu core, etc. And in the end gpus is easy to replace/upgrade so if your gpu is not up to snuff then upgrade is the best and easiest way, you could say this with cpu as well, but they are harder to upgrade meaning in most cases its cpu/mobo/ram change + possible windows reinstall and cpu performance doesnt matter that much in gaming anyway, unless you are allergic to any type of cpu bottleneck :D

You don’t need to keep Afterburner running. It just needs to run once to apply the profile. You can create a scheduled task to automatically close it 1 minute after it launches at boot, that’s what I do.

I didn't hear back from them, so I can only assume that it was all good. I always say to my customers "If there's any problem, let me know and I'll look at it again free of charge." So I assume no news is good news, otherwise they'd be back to claim that free second-look.

@@Adamant_IT cool. I'm considering overclocking my graphics card and your video encouraged me to actually do it this weekend. I don't need to, but it might be fun. Great video, glad I've found your channel

@@marknijssen8333 My GPU apparently was not a Silicon Lottery winner... It froze using the tool from the manufacturer to do the auto OC... So I am not going to push it. It is a 2080 Super, so it is decently fast as is.

Culd i ask you to build and overclock a computer? intrested in a rysen 7, im really nerves of overclocking and really likes you come way of doing it! My request is a small good ventilation chassi. Nois is not important. My RX 480 can I put in my self if you don't want me to send it to you. I want you to put in some hours to get the APU as good as it can be. Then send it to me in sweden. Mony up front of course!

Hello! While it would be very interesting to do, this isn't a service I offer yet. You're best off finding someone in Sweden who can do this for you. Be aware though, AMD overclocking is a bit of a dead-end. There's some gains you can get, but it's not as straight forward as Intel by a long shot.

Thank you, find some one how i can trust is hard, if you overclock al warranty is gone and you need to have faith that it is done correctly! But thank you hope you thinking of a Amazon store for some good computer's.

Adamant IT what is different about amd overclocking?
@YoutubeHandlesSuckBalls

The voltage creep is probably due to LLC (line level compensation) which automatically increases voltage based on requested frequency

When I decided to overclock a 4690k years ago I literally just looked up what the average overclock at what coltage and it said if I could get into Windows at 4.5GHz at 1.25v I got a top 50% chip and if i couldn't i got a bottom 50% chip. So I put 4.5GHz at 1.25v and it crashed. I then put the voltage to I think 1.26v, it booted, ran Intel Burn Test for a few minutes, saw 80C all cores, and called it good. Never had an issue lol. I think aiming for 4GHz on this is very low honestly for any Intel chip post 2000 series. The first gen's I think are when you should aim for 4GHz iirc. Overall I think you overdid the voltage a lot. Since it made it into Windows at 4.4GHz and 1.25v that means it probably only needed 1.275 to be stable.

The two programs are not the same. Windows Defender doesn’t clean the registry of orphaned keys or a plethora of other things CCleaner does. Windows defender is an Anti-virus and malware program.........CCleaner is not. Defender is the only virus removal program I use mainly because it doesn’t rob performance from your system and it is integrated into the Windows platform rather than sitting on top.
