Just bought the LG 40WP95 to replace my 38UC99. Hopefully I can say more once it's delivered later this week. :) Got it slightly used for 900 EUR which is less than what I paid for the 38" back then.

I just got the same one and I also do graphics and agree with your take on it co completely ! I wish the built quality was slightly more refined as it feels a bit plasticky but the picture quality is great even if you sit up close. Works absolutely perfect with my Macbook Pro via the thunderbolt and most importantly it's amazing for coding because the font is extremely sharp. I'm so pleased with it so far.

Subscribed, due to "lets be honest, its just a bigger screen", which I will buy, but honestly want make me love my job !

I can definitely see the utility but for the price probably not. Having the extra width when searching through a timeline would be amazing though.

"It's big, it's heavy." Imho it's *not* heavy. It's only 12,3 kg, including the stand. I tried the 55" 4K Odyssey ARK monitor. The stand alone weighs 30(!) kg. Also, I like that its not 1 too thin, because that would also make it a lot more vulnerable.

Am I too sensitive about the not stepless auto brightness behaviour? I come from an Eizo where it works smoothly plus with a much wider variation range, wheras the LG limits it in both directions. I slowly go nuts seeing it stepping up and down every few seconds 😵

What color calibrator did you use? Did you use the LG calibration software?

why some people put light right on the screen while asking for more brightness?

the curve don't destroy your photo edition? you know is better see photos flat
@StefanMalloch
@StefanMalloch Год назад
Its not a very intense curve. Photo editing is #1 for me and its not an issue at all.

If you connect from your computer to this monitor using the Thunderbolt input, can you use the downstream Thunderbolt port to connect to a USB-C SSD drive like the Samsung T7?

Can you share the calibration settings you recommend for editing?
@RoadRallyLife
@RoadRallyLife Год назад
Im confused by the calibration from factory...is the implication every picture setting is calibrated? There's an srgb mode that has a major green tint, and when I edit video id usually use rec709 (at least with my benQ)...is that the equivalent to "Cinema" setting in this monitor?
@StefanMalloch
@StefanMalloch Год назад
I dont trust anything that claims to be "calibrated from the factory."

@@StefanMalloch touche - i ended up calibrating it myself with Spyderpro5 Pro, looks good I believe. For the record -my BenQ 27" 4k was calibrated and it was spot on.

I heard that this monitor is a bad choice for Apple users because at native resolution all widgets, menus, toolbars , finder windows etc look exceedingly small and unusable, and if you scale it for some reason the scaling does not work very well and makes the whole interface a bit fuzzy.. can you confirm that or not?

Can anyone who has this monitor, share with me, how high is this thing when you put it on your desk with a stand, and lower it down as low as possible? Need to know that for my setup which has some narrow vertical space.

@amyodov

@@magicmulder, sure :) I've heard some comments that it goes as low as “20" exactly” (50.8 cm), which is why I am so worried. I am interested very much in getting 40WP95C (and don't want to take a smaller one, or look at Dell/Lenovo ones), no matter of the rumors and reports about weird behavior with Macs - but I need to somehow squeeze it under 19.7" / 50cm... :(
@magicmulder
@magicmulder Год назад
@@amyodov I don't think 50 cm will be enough. My 38" LG UW on my monitor arm goes down to 46 cm (bottom is at 8.5 cm in that position), and that is *way* lower than it went on its own stand. And the 40" is a couple cm higher, so even on my arm it would just about fit 50cm from the desk.
@amyodov
@amyodov Год назад
@@magicmulder , I even had a look up for VESA-based freestanding stands, to replace the stock one (to be able to move it as low as possible). But then we face another limitation, most of them just barely handle the weight of this dude :) But I still keep crossing the fingers it could fit under 50cm.
@magicmulder

@@amyodov Sorry to disappoint you, got my 40WP95 delivered today but the seller forgot to include the stand, so I can't measure it for you. :(

Why would this have sharper text than a 32" 4K monitor if it has same DPI?
@StefanMalloch
@StefanMalloch Год назад
Maybe just newer tech or how different brands display sharpness. I don't have a good answer.
