I would say you arguably have the best YT channel, for this type of electronics' repairs, going. Your ability to clearly explain PCB layouts, whilst allowing the viewer to see, under the microscope, makes for excellent, instructive videos. It is greatly appreciated Keep it up. 👍
Hey Richard, just want to let you know that i really enjoy watching your videos! Learned a lot from you! Really great content and a cool guy! Name a better duo! Thanks!
In order to not clog up the desoldering gun, you should run the pump a little longer on each joint so that all the solder is sucked into the resevoir. I even made it a habit to pull away the gun from the joint while it is still running so that it can freely suck some air to clear everything. Thank you for the great explanation of the workings of the power supply! All the best
I second a follow up video. not only that but, as I said to Bob Pitt and as he also suggested I would look at C911, there is also a big burn mark running up the glue to that diode, maybe a surge? But, none the less, that cap looks damaged.....
C911 is connected Drain to Source. It reads open circuit as I showed in this video, as does C910 which would also be correct, but I can check them for capacitance.
On 34:20 the burn mark shown on the right leg of the capacitor. Some months ago I repaired a tv psu, the same fuction cap was blown but I did not recognised, finally I paid the price when I bought the "second" MOSFET.
Hi Dicky, I’d like to see the repair video on this, when you get the parts, part 2 if you could. As always keep up the great work mate. 🤙🏼🇦🇺 Joe from Australia 🤙🏼🇦🇺
He owns a local mobile phone and tablet repair shop. Anything else his customers bring in for repair he brings to me. I appreciate the vairiety of items I can use to make videos and do him a good deal on any repairs completed.
@@LearnElectronicsRepair no not at all it just seems like every time I attempt to repair like this something else goes wrong! I just did a similar repair on a very expensive subwoofer where are the mosfet and current sense resistors blue I install the parts and it blew the mosfet
@@LearnElectronicsRepair awesome! Please do a Shout out to the Electronic santa from Canada while your at it! I watch all your videos and have learned a ton! I'm self taught as well and I think your very good at repair. I have videos on my channel, but I'm not an active repair channel and im not trying to promote it , more for fun. Thanks from the electronic Santa!!!
You mean C911...... Agreed, I saw that one too. In fact, you can even see a great big burn mark running up the glue they've used it looks like running back to the diode.
That probably came from resistor when it "explode". Worth checking out but these high voltage caps rarely fail and when they fail it's always in short circuit.
@@gorjy9610 Yes could be, but I have had those caps fail open when hit with a surge as well. They do mostly fail short, but have had 3 caps already on items that fail open, granted not very often though. Still, those caps do not cost much and as they are directly in the high voltage circuit it would be worthwhile replacing them.
Good show but I might have tried powering it up with one big and one small bench supply before ordering parts. There was enough info on the silk screen to do so and injecting a low freq input to the power amp seems easy.
Thorough analyses. The 100k SM resistor in the feedback circuit looked odd (to me), almost like an afterthought / bodge. Seems not to be mentioned in the SMPS chip datasheet (I haven't studied it fully) may be worth investigating before switch on.
16:21 I think the current through the LED (opto-coupler) and TL41 is proportional to the output voltage not an On/Off function as the TL41 normally has about 10mA flowing through it...
Dear Teacher, Thank you for all the knowledge you bring to me, it has helped me a lot in my work. I have 1 question: I am currently using a DC 530V power supply. This source I use to test pulse source circuits. But it's really dangerous. I was blown up once and was scared to use it. Can you give me some solutions to protect myself from disconnecting the circuit when a short or overcurrent occurs? I thank you very much.
Hi Richard. Thanks for the informative video. As it happens, a friend has just handed me one of these amps today with a non power up issue. Unfortunately switch mode power supplies and ams are not my field of experience, however I can see the 2 x 0.11 ohm resistors are blown but also c910 adjacent to them. I don’t suppose you know its value etc so I can replace that too. It is totally destroyed with a substantial a black soot mark on the circuit board surface. Thanks in advance if you are able to assist. Steve Manley
That AliExpress listing looked odd .. component legs ready bent from the factory? I’ll be interested to see if they are more salvaged parts when they turn up. Good if they work though. 😀👍
How long do you generally have to wait for parts when you order from AliExpress? I would have thought the delay would be prohibitive but perhaps your location means you get delays no matter what the source. I recently sourced some voltage regulators from France, they were stuck in French customs for over a week. Delays from other EU countries into UK seem similar so I guess it is their idea of punishment for daring to leave the EU but in practice it simply means I will only use EU suppliers as a last resort.
Tracked standard shipping take about 10 days to most of Europe, Low-cost/free options are slower. Trick is to always order for more than 10€ (with cheap item just take more of same or more different item from same or even different sellers at once) choosing cheapest postage option and then AE will "upgrade" postage to AE standard tracked for free :)
AliExpress usually takes 2-4 weeks but Andy goes to the capital, Las Palmas, every Friday and parts like this (0.22R resistors and the 3BR0665) are almost certainly in stock at one of the two electronics component shops we have there
I hate LG! I got LG sn7y, don't even use regularly and all the time I have been facing issues. Most of the times, subwoofer was not able to connect to soundbar and finaly the problem solved. Subwoofer does not work anymore! It pust the button in the back and starts blinking green light just then start blinking faster 2 times then goes off no light anymore! For god's sake, anyone is reading this DON'T BUY LG PRODUCTS!
I thank you for your interesting and useful channel, Dear sir : I would like you to help me to find the purpose and datashett or an equivalent IC chip with this code HCOO written on it 9410N7 It is located in the dc motor control circuit Special for electric fishing machine. I think this ic chip is Inverter , It is made up of 14 pins. Thank you 🌹
