@SpawnPoiint - would you ever consider doing a full in depth settings video ? What you use for TV, SDR, HDR etc. and gaming ? For example do you use 4:4:4 PC mode for consoles ? Dolby Vision or HDR ? HGIG or DTM ? This TV has so many different settings and options - it gives a lot of choice and experimentation. Hope you consider doing one - Thanks 👍
I've had the 55' C1 for about 5 weeks now, and I'm completely blown away by the quality and performance. My next display will absolutely be another LG OLED.
@@SpawnPoiint worth the slight upgrade to G1? Also do you use gallery mode similar to a Samsung frame tv from the “lifestyle” tv category when the tv isn’t in use? I’m either waiting for 2022 line up drop or picking up 65” C1/G1 sub $3-4k NZD
Had the 55” C1 since early April and it’s just the perfect TV, you can’t beat its design, it’s so stylish. The picture quality is just amazing too. There is an option to stop the dash loading everytime you turn the TV on, liveplus maybe, not sure. Also you can clear the cache in the menus and this makes apps and menus open quicker. Gets tiring hearing comments about ‘enjoy the burn in’ anyone who actually knows what they’re talking about would know that burn in is a non issue in normal usage.
They just mad cus they got ripped off buying a super expensive TV with budget features.. seen somebody with a LG nano cell talking shit about the C1 lol
My only issue with my C1 is I need to turn TPC off in the Service Menu to watch Dolby Vision. Terrible ASBL which hopefully they’ll fix. Tired of screen dimming down in dark scenes. No issues with standard HDR or SDR. Watch Dolby Vision with TPC on & if there is a dark scene, brace for the TV to start dimming down till you can barely see anything at all. lol
@@derbderbishire1487 I’m being dumb but what’s TPC? I watch a lot of Dolby Vision and have no complaints, picture never dims. I use the Cinema Home preset.
Nice OLED! I have a 48" C1 in the bedroom/home office for gaming on PS5 and Xbox Series X, and a 65" in the Livingroom for movies and TV. Both are absolutely fantastic. For someone like me who's been playing video games since the early 70's, they simply blow my mind.
@@KGBos I got mine on Black Friday and we knew a guy that worked there so he gave us his employee discount as well since we’re almost “family” but we got it for 1500$ USD
Great video, bought my C1 three months ago and loving it too. You can remove the annoying home dashboard popping up by going into options - general - system - additional settings - home settings - disable both home options. Hope I could be of some help! Keep up the good content.
@@SpawnPoiint Does someone know how to change the time on Lg c1 when the TV goes into standby mode ?? (In clock mode) In the dark, you pause the video and after a minute the screen turns black for one hour, you can’t see anything in the room 😕 Is it really impossible to change this time or the clock screensaver itself ??? I went through all the settings, searched in Google RU-vid, there is nothing !! This is inconvenient, one minute (figuratively, maybe 2) and immediately the screen goes blank
Many of the burn in OLED comments are made by people who live in the past. Very early OLED models did have some burn in issues but the technology has vastly improved since then.
@@SpawnPoiint I’ve had the c7 going on for four years and I have burn in. My previous tv was a Samsung plasma which I had for 7 years and had very little burn in. My tv in the living just stopped working (12 year old Samsung plasma) and I couldn’t justify buying the c1 because of burn in. I went ahead and ordered the Samsung qn90. I’m waiting for it to be delivered.
Nice OLED! I'm thinking the C1 will be my first OLED in the very near future. I'd go for the C2, but the C1 is cheaper, and definitely better for my wallet.
@@wallyjohnn6434 I've had the C1 for a couple of months now, and I'm loving it. Plenty bright for me. Luckily I already had a PS5, so I picked up a new LG soundbar as well.
@@TrexxArmz I still have a PS4 and can't stand to play BDs on it because it displays all movies too darkly. That's when I power up the PS3. It plays a lot brighter. I found if I set the 55C1 Display to APS, power saving mode, the PS4 actually plays brighter, on par with the PS3. Since the PS4 does not play 4K BDs, I power up the XBox One, instead. I just don't like that it tends to get warm, so I do not leave it in Stand-by Power Mode. I'm still trying to get used to the slight stutter on the C1. Playing around with the Motion settings changes the screen brightness and colour settings. Calibrating the unit, changing the Motion settings and then having to go back and try to get it close to the original calibration is tedious and self-defeating. So far those are the two deficiencies that frustrate me. Because of the stutter I found a Pioneer Kuro 50" to tide me over and hope to some day repair my LG 60PA6500. I'd get a Kuro 60" but at 133 pounds it is too heavy, especially since the 55G2 weighs 37 pounds without the stand and 47 pounds with the stand. The 55C1 weighs 42 pounds without the stand and 51 pounds with stand. One thing I really appreciate with the C1 GUI is that it is not cluttered with apps. It isn't a "Smart" TV in that sense but it should appeal to those of us that prefer "Dumb" TVs. I use a Fire Cube for my apps. The other thing I appreciate is that when tuning a weak signal the display does not get blocky, unlike the 60PA6500 where I had to enter APS mode to be able to watch an OTA channel. Thank goodness it has a good ATSC tuner.
I’ve had my 55 inch C1 OLED for about 5 months now and I really love it, I have all the next gen consoles and they all look so amazing on it, can’t wait for more games to take advantage of the next gen hardware and look even better on this TV 😄
You’re videos are part of the reason I finally pulled the trigger and bought myself a C1 a couple weeks ago. This video came at the perfect time. It’s a phenomenal TV. I was stuck between the C1 and G1 but decided to save the money I would’ve spent on a G1 for a C1 and Sonos system combo. I have a sick gaming set up in my living room now. Nice OLED indeed!
Exactly this! I pulled the trigger on a 65" C1 back in November and it's the best money I've ever spent on a TV without question. I was skeptical at first but after watching these videos and seeing it in person myself I gotta say for anyone on the fence about getting an OLED, just do it! You won't regret it. Goes perfectly with my Xbox Series X :)
I went ahead and picked up the 77inch C1 for 2799.99 in the US. I came from a 65 inch E7 and it’s quite a difference. Video game wise I would check out horizon forbidden west. I never seen a game look so good on Oled.
I've had my C1 about the same time and I'm absolutely in awe of it! The menu isn't the best and is indeed laggy but those are my only issues. Great content, man!
@@grahamkelly8662 It's because of all the bloatware they add that slows the TV down. If you clear things every once in a while you should get back to normal.
@@D2524-v8r How do you even do that? I've been through the settings with a fine-toothed comb and can't see any setting that relates to 'clearing the cache'. As I understand it, the act of simply powering the TV off and on again will clear the system memory, close recent apps and delete their stored session data. That's about all you can do.
Hi SpawnPoiint!! Nice OLED! It would be extraordinary if you have the chance to get Sony TVs this year! Especially that QD one that is supposed to be the next game changer technology in years to come.
Bought mine 2 weeks ago and have been babying it, terrified of it burning in after a year with the latin american tax I had to pay for it. Since I only watch/play stuff 2-3 times a week, and usually only for a couple of hours, I think it' completely safe for me to stop babying it and just turn that brightness on and enjoy myself. Since my room is even darker than yours, I'll be perfectly fine with about 75-80% OLED pixel brightness. Thanks a lot!
I never had an oled tv before. I bought a nanocell tv when ps5 released for my first 4k tv but the blacks are terriable. Most games nowdays have dark colors and i was looking into oled. Do you still recommend this tv to ps5 users?
So I bought one of these the 65” one based on your review. Yes it’s absolutely incredible infact AMAZING!!! A game to play which I’ve found amazing is Ghost of Tsushima (PS5) and Halo Infinite (Xbox series X) film wise any of the Disney + IMAX ultra films are unreal! Shang Chi was unreal!
I just bought C1 55" which will replace my 3-year old B8. The only problem that I had with my B8 is that macroblocking / near black issue. I think it got resolved already (I didn't see that problem with exactly the same material on my friend's CX, so I'm hopeful). Anyway, I would never buy anything else than OLED nowadays after having one. Amazing picture/color/blacks quality!
Nice OLED ;-) I picked up the C1 after watching a lot of review videos (One of yours of course!) and couldn't be happier with it. It's been the main display for PS5 gaming, movies and tons of TV shows. It definitely is all around best TV out there right now.
Just got tge G1 in New Zealand and I must say the wife and I (not huge tv or gaming peeps) have fallen in love with the picture quality straight out of the box…never mind once I reset a few settings that I have heard will top off what I think is already picture perfect.
Nice OLED ! I'm keeping an eye for several months already for the C1 in 55"... reviews like this makes it just harder to wait 🤣 The price has already dropped comparing to last year, so hopefully the C2 and G2 will make the price drop even greater. ATM I'm rocking a 12 year old 42" LG LED tv so the stepup would be massive haha. Thanks lad for Al the great content. I really hope you could get your hands on a C2/G2. Looking forward to the next video.
Dude! I got the C1 Twice one when it first came out and another one for my moms house during the price drop and the tvs are awesome! mines still works! and momma loves her c1!
Love these long term reviews. Still rocking the C7. When the C1 is getting a nice price drop this year i might pull the trigger. Could use the gaming features for the Series X
Just purchased thus yesterday. Definitely had a hard time setting it up and lifting it on the TV stand cuz I have no one to help. But anyway, I don't have a PS5 or Series X, just one X and PS4. I tried the settings for 120fps but I guess it doesn't work for the past consoles only the current gens and PC computers??
Hey man.. great vid. Loving my C1. You can actually disable the home screen pop up when you turn the TV on. System, additional settings, home settings and disable home auto launch.. can also turn off home promotion so no ads when open home
Hi, Great video, I was wondering when you said you don’t use oled brightness to max , does that mean sdr or hdr settings? Can you share your picture settings is possible for different modes please.
I bought this TV around six months ago partially based on your earlier review video and couldn’t be happier with it. It’s absolutely incredible for gaming with my PS5 & XSX! Thanks for the great review video!
Thanks for your content on the C1, always loved how you come across in these reviews. Needless to say, as of today i am now £1100 out of pocket after purchasing the c1 55" version. Looking forward to setting it up with my Pc. Couch gaming here i come !
My C9 is still chugging away after 2 years, still a brilliant screen, still no burn-in (I colour checked it last week). Feel like I hit the sweet spot with cost, future proofing and capabilities. I'll think about getting the C5 when it comes along. :-)
@@jackherbert7694 I bought C9 55 December 2019, it does have 120hz and it’s native 4k .thanks to HDTV Test channel, *LG listened and updated C9 to 2.1 HDMI in 2020*
Not sure what to make of your comments about the Burn-in, because I believe you when you say you don't have any. However, I've had an LG OLED TV for 4, 5 years now, which I use for TV, gaming and as my main Desktop monitor (I'm all chordless from the couch), and I've got crazy amounts of burn-in. And it isn't an issue of my TV just being old at this point, because it started appearing during my 2nd year of using it. I'll forever be hesitant burn-in claims, but at the same time, I can't see myself ever going back to an LED panel after all these years.
I’ve recently been playing Mortal Kombat 11 in HDR on my RTX 3080 PC with HGIG and it looks incredible! I suppose it should look just as good on the PS5.
Just got this TV and it looks amazing! Agree with your review. If you can answer this I’m you earned my sub. What are you using for lighting beginning your tv? Also what mount did you use to mount your tv. Thanks!
@@SpawnPoiint Thanks for the quick response. I actually continued watching your videos and saw your setup video where you went over the things you use. I noticed you have the strips zig zagging in the back. For the 65 inch will I need the 80 inch version of LIFX or will the 40 inch be enough? Subbed!
I'm looking at buying a c1 but I'm worried about the longevity of the t.v yes I know burn in etc. I currently have a Samsung q85r which I plan on giving to my old dear as her old 4k Samsung has packed up. I want a 65inch as I like the big screen for both general viewing and films. I work nights so I have blackout curtains so the room is quite dark. What do you think I should do?
Nice OLED. :) I’m so happy with my C1, got it back in May and as you i’m still amazed by the inky blacks in the movies, especially when are in Dolby Vision. But i’m interested in your picture settings. Are you using the default ones or your custom ones? And if you do can you post them? Thanks for your content I’m big fan! :)
I've had 3 C1 65 inch tv's now all with a nasty pink tint down the left hand side. Can't understand why nobody is talking about this serious issue? Or is it simply the fact that most people either don't notice or don't really care!
@@darrenwatts5218 nothing on my side so far. And believe me, I sort of have OCD on those kinds of things. My designer eyes wouldn't let me live with a TV like that 😅
Thoroughly enjoyed this long-term review, as I’ve owned the LG C1 for a couple of months now, and your video hit on a number of topics that I was curious about. It’s also reassuring to know that I am not the only one that feels that the dashboard is extraordinarily laggy. Hopefully we will see some updates this year to assist with speeding things up. Nice OLED!
Thanks. I just purchased this TV today. I went into BB having my mind set on the Samsung NEO Qled 90A, however after talking to the sales rep and looking at the pic quality of both sets I switched to the LG C1 and after reading some reviews and seeing your’s, I’m glad I did.
Always been interested in the C1. Maybe I'll grab the C2 this year. I like my Sony a lot though. Not as good for gaming but the UI (Google TV) is better. Don't think you can go wrong with either brand.
Too much stutter on the majority of content for me. Watching anime or non HDR movies and shows and ps4/switch all play terrible on these oleds with the amount of stutter. Sadly I’m past my return date I never knew this was such a big issue
I've had the 77" C1 for about 6 months now and before settling on this I had the G1, A80J and A90J as other contenders but I don't at all regret getting the C1 as I think the quite a bit extra dosh for the evo panel in the G1 and A90J was not worth it as the extra brightness was a very small evolution rather than something more groundbreaking.
I agree. Considering our eyes adjust to perceived contrast dynamically? Only in side by side would we REALLY notice this "30% brightness" increase between different OLED. And since OLED is already supreme in contrast due to each pixel on/off capability, its even less so important to pay more for this minor APL and peak spec. Again unless you watch super bright LCD in the 1500 nit range in a different room and then go straight to the OLED in the same night... yeah you might feel its a bit dim doing that immediate comparison.
Agreed. I just got the 77 inch as well. Did you put yours on the stand? Had an issue where it’s leaning back ever so slightly and was wondering if you wanted that if it’s on the stand?
Top content, as usual. I own a 65 inch C1 for my living room, and a 48 inch C1 for my gaming room, and both performs absolutely stuning. I've received many comments about how the CX is much brighter and I should move to a CX for my living room (surrounded by windows), but honestly i've never needed to boost the brightness to get a perfect performance. My brightness is usually somewhere between 55% and 65% of brightness, and 80% OLED pixel brightness, and I consider that more than enough. I can't really think of using more brightness without burning my eyes. I used to own a Samsung Q6FN that shines for it's brightness and the experience (only talking about brightness) was not much different. I already have over 3.000 hours of use in my 65 inch C1 and there is not even one mark on the OLED panel. Burn in is clearly on the past. Keep it up, mate!
I looked at this TV but chose the A90j. More expensive but the sound and having a Google OS made it worth the extra. The lg is still a good value TV however.
I pulled the trigger on the 55" C1 on December and I really love it. I don't have the best layout in my room since I have a window facing the TV but still I love the TV. Nice OLED! Keep creating the content, mate. Cheers!
I got my C1 a few months ago and I’m loving every second on it. Everything I watch looks so good. And gaming is fantastic on the TV. Definitely my favorite purchase in a while!
Just picked up a 65" C1 yesterday, and I've got to say that so far it has been mind blowing. Both XSX and PS5 games look amazing on it, and more importantly, feel amazing. Streaming content looks so real it feels like you could touch it. I got really lucky with the color as it is pretty accurate out of the box. Coming from a Sony X900h the standards for picture quality were high but the step-up is quite apparent. I was looking at the A80J as well but all the gaming features were hard to pass up for $200 less. One thing the X900H definitely did better was upscaling. Playing older Xbox titles definitely looked better with Sony's processing but not by a night and day margin. The sound on the Sony I think was also better, so a soundbar will probably be in my future which is another benefit of the extra HDMI 2.1 inputs as Sony's two limits configurations. Really can't go wrong with this set.
I was really curious about the X900 upscaling compared to the C9 CX C1 Thanks for sharing I found the C9 and CX inferior to older Q70R in that regard... LG processing seems to be a few years behind
The c1 is an amazing jaw dropping tv no doubt about that. But I feel like qleds just can't be overlooked. Im currently playing the uncharted 4 update on the ps5. Started it on the my c1. Decided to hook it up to my qled (q90t) to play on the couch (using OLED as pc monitor). Holy hell what a difference it was. The qled just smacked me in the face. That hdr brightness, colors popping. The Scotland mission where you are outside during the day was so much better on the qled. I was literally blinded by the sun. Ofc when you go to a darker scene, that's where the c1 shines. But the q90t doesnt do too bad as well. I felt like I just wanted to continue the game on the qled. Really excited to see the new qd OLEDs. If they can merge these two tvs together I'm definitely going to be looking into those if they don't cost an arm and a leg. Great video as usual mate!
I've had a 55 inch C1 since mid December. I sold my Sony XH90 to part fund the upgrade and it certainly is an upgrade! I can't explain it but the P.Q is on a different level. It just feels so much deeper and crisper. 1080p content looks almost 4K. The Blacks still look incredible. Watching the Australian Open final today was a double treat. I use my P.C to game and engaging VRR at 4k@120 is awesome. I do active the gaming dashboard just to see the "Nvidia Gsync" logo. Yes, odd behaviour I guess! Sound is good from my wall mounting.position although I use my A/V reciever for movie time. I still think Pasengers and The Martian are my favourite films for literal eye candy. When watching Premiere League I've seen no vertical banding at all. Even better than my old Sony 900e which is still really good to watch now. The Home Screen is laggy but I can live with that. In summation I'd say this is my best TV to date and I've had a few over the decades. I'm just watching The Green Planet now in HLG 4K and it's incredible! Great follow on review btw.
@@sj460162Compared to My previous XH90/900H I feel its better. Even though the Sony used Forum VRR I feel the smoothness of the C1 just feels more polished. As for brightness, I never had my Sony on higher than about a quarter brightness. Once I increased the brightness to much it seems to blow out the image a bit. My C1brightness doesn't go above 60 percent in SD viewing and it's plenty bright enough for me. Of course, in your personal viewing environment you may need a brighter image but it works well for me. And the image is defo a level in quality higher 👌
I’m so jealous of the black PS5. That was the main reason why I didn’t want to buy it at launch. Black on electronics is just more clean and sleek to me. It’s ironic how Sony finally releases more panel colors but not more consoles😂
I use my 48" C1 on a 12 Core 5.1 Ghz computer powered by the EVGA FTW3 Ultimate 3080. It is my entertainment center with all my TV watching as well. I can tell you that this blows away any dedicated gaming monitor. Yes many have an equivalent claim of a 1 ms response time but the truth is that's a lie, as their pixel response time will ad an additional 20-40 ms to the true "response/lag" time. The OLED pixel refresh is about 3/4 of 1 ms....so apples to apples....the best gaming monitor is about a 25 ms response, Vs my c1's 1.75 ms response.....Case Closed !
Nice review! I was close to buying the c1, but i found a cx 55 inch for £200 less. When i got my lg cx I was surprised by the lack of image retention after all reviews mentioning it as a potential issue - also the gaming performance is amazing - the response time in competitive fps feels awesome to play. 4k films and even normal hd looks great although i did find sdr didnt look as good as it did on my old sony x900e. On the downside though i did find when viewing near black content there is sometimes noticeable posterization which is pretty much the only issue ive noticed. Im so happy with this tv 😁
@@ArtVandelayOfficial mostly turn off everything - if its non hdr i use isf bright room oled light 35 contrast 85 brightness 49 sharpness 0 gamma 2.2 warm 2 black level low dejudder 2 deblur 2. I would definitely have gone for the C1 if not for the issues with burn in and color degradation that OLEDs still deal with. Given that I also use my TV with my PC I am more likely to get burn in compared to someone who just watches videos. I opted for the Samsung QN90A. the QD-LED can't match the blacks of OLEDs (although close) and it has some slight blooming in certain scenarios. But the QN90A gets 3 times brighter than the C1 which helps the QN90A make colors pop more , especially in HDR scenes. Once micro LED tvs come down in price I feel like they will overtake OLED tvs. Give it another 5+ years for the prices to be more reasonable. Also I wouldn't compared an LG LED to an OLED. LG doesn't make great LED tvs. Better compare one of the top Sony or Samsung LEDs to an OLED.
I got the sony X90j and haven't opened it yet. I really want c1 as well, but don't want to risk burn in. Its on sale for 1299, but I would feel the 300 dollar protection plan is a must have, which brings more too 1600 plus tax. That's way too much money for any tv for me. Add a sound bar it adds up quick.
I've been loving my 65" C1 as well. I also noticed how responsive it is, especially when playing games at 120fps where the input lag is so minimal it feels instant. Even games like Dead Space 2 with the fps boosted to 60, look and feel incredible. Funnily enough, Dolby Vision is my main gripe with this TV as everything with it on seems to look too dark, even with the brightness settings adjusted. Like the picture quality is good with DV, but just too dark and not as good as HDR10 in my opinion, so I prefer to use that instead.
Yea i agree, DV when watching witcher through the app vs Witcher in HDR 10 on my series x, both look good but HDR10 is just more brighter and colorful. Also for some wierd reason, DV on the series x netflix app looks terrible compared to the tv app. But the C1 for gaming is great.
@@theelusivememe1772 That's interesting how it varies on both. I watch all my video content from the TV apps but have noticed that Dolby Vision looks considerably darker than everything else. I think it's still in its infancy. Vincent from HDTVTest did a video how much worse it looks on Halo Infinite compared to HDR. I actually have DV gaming turned off now on my Series X.
I'm sold on this TV! My current tv broke, black screen and only sound. Couldn't be fixed. But it is 6 years old. But that isn't so old for tv what do i know.. It was a Philips 4k LED 55' tv, worked great. But know I want to buy the best tv for the budget, and it's gonna be a 65' LG OLED C1. I'm not spending more for a G1, I don't see the big difference. Thank's for awesome videos. OLED here I come! :D
