For example, pretending burn-in is an issue (which he has mentioned it not being an issue in the past) to push the new model TV's. For example - burn in illustrated on red-slides, which nobody ever sees unless they specifically bring them up. Which is why he will use red-slides to demonstrate the issue. This is just one example of how someone can use technical prowess to pretend like they are on the consumer's side, but in the end it's being presented in a way to benefit the industry (or themselves, because they're incentivized by the industry).

He literally is not on the pay role of tv manufacturers so he doesn't care how much they sell however he does run a youtube channel that is specifically about displays and objective reviews on them. Of course he is going to talk about whats new and different and what potential benefits that could be seen from it, he needs views and will highlight any new variation that could be a benefit to new buyers. He even states there 30% more brightness is most likely for the abl but is just another lg marketing term to sound huge but is minor most likely at best. Evo panel is a good example of that. The only thing that really makes a difference is a heatsink although panel benefit is nice on top. But each manufacturer will use it in different ways.

I used a Panasonic plasma for 15 years and never got any burn in. I think the main reason was being aware of it and never letting the tv stay on with a static image. Plus, I’d enable the screensaver in every console and media player. After so many years, I was kind of hoping the TV would die but didn’t replace it until I got a 4K TV for free from a friend doing an upgrade. Still in perfect condition but the demand for 50” 720p plasmas is non existent at this point :) I can’t even give it away!
I've got a 1080p 42" inch Panasonic plasma. The picture quality is great, and I'm not in a hurry to upgrade. It's going to be 10 years old this year. I paid 600€ for it. The speakers are bad and the components buzz, but the picture is great at HD. It's miles better than any LED TV that was at the market at the same time at the same price point. My family's Sony 40" 1080p LCD TV was bought in 2007, and its speakers and audio quality are great. My family sees no reason to upgrade. The only downgrade is that it doesn't have an HD receiver, so if you want to watch TV in HD, you've got to buy an HD digibox. I've thought about upgrading my TV for a couple of years, but I've decided not to do so until the TV bites the dust.
I have a 17 year old Samsung Plasma TV. Still displays an awesome picture. When I compare that to the new OLED display, I find the 1080p image displayed by the plasma screen more realistic. The image on the new OLED is not as realistic looking as one might think. What your eyes see in real life is not the same as what's displayed on an OLED screen. Overly sharp. My opinion, of course.

That aside, when I went from 1080p to 4k Resolution, & 4k footage... Good lord, what a night & day difference. Its was mind blowingly awesome & easy to notice.
The AI prediction is a nice advancement. At Pioneer, back in the good 'ol days of PDP, we had pixel shift tech, of course, which was marketed as a way to delay the chances of burn-in, but internally we referred to it as "just moving the problem around." 😀

I bought a LG B7 in 2018. The burn-in examples at the beginning of the video are very real. It doesn't matter if LG improved their OLED panels by 30%. It doesn't matter that new OLED panels look better than LCD. I use my TV in a bright room, and I have to set the OLED brightness near the max level. I always prevent static logos to stay more than a few seconds. However, the burn-in is an accumulative effect. After a year of moderate use, I had burn-in in some areas. 2 years later, the screen degradation is awful. I'll never buy an OLED tv again, unless burn-in be 100% impossible to happen.
LG did say they were making a smaller 30 somthin inch or more high refresh monitor, but that was 4 months ago. So yeah, the C2 lookin like my next purchase unless the QD-OLED is that much better.
You are lucky then. I have the 65" (65B6) version and I have a big burned in area in the middle of the screen. In this area the colours are just weird :( Honestly, I was really disappointed, because the tv wasn't cheap (3k) and after 3,5 years (without gaming) normal usage this shouldn’t happen.
I had a 55" LG EC9300 OLED TV. It was LG's second year of making OLED TVs. I got it in May of 2015 and used it until May 2021. Probably 15,000 hours. I sold it to a friend in June when I got my Sony 55" A80J. It's still doing just fine with no trace of burn in.
I have said this a lot in Vincent's other videos, but he is awesome and know the technology in TV's probably as good as the engineers that design them for LG. I won't buy a TV unless he says its good. Gotta have the HDTVTest seal of approval or it's not going in my house. In fact, I already bought my LG C2 OLED 65 inch and hung it on my wall thanks to Vincent! Please keep the videos coming man so I can buy more stuff! ROFL
You can look at it the other way and say that it's always the right time, since something new will pop up next year anyway. But it's not like some new tech will make your current TV uglier... I'm still using LG C8 and I'm very happy with it, I plan to stick with it at least for the next few years. Would a 2022 TV look better? Definitely. But mine looks good enough anyway. FOMO is a bad thing to have, you need to accept that no matter what you buy, there will be some new version releasing soon or your version will become cheaper. That's just the nature of tech, always has been.
Last TV I owned, I had for 10 years. Not intentionally, but it just wasn't in the budget. I've been holding back on OLED for this reason. I don't want my TV to become an "emergency expense". Need to see further testing but this looks interesting.
I bought one (65" C1) after keeping a 3D capable one for 10 years since I'm sure, no single thing we're watching on it (series for the kid, occasional gaming, documentaries) will account for more than e.g. 4000+ hours showing the same program with a constant screen (like in the test of a less well protected model with CNN running at max brightness for that many hours).
I only own OLED in my house, even if i got paid to use another technology i wouldnt. Its just so much better. For my living room ive had the LG 65" C7 since release. Did a test on it a few days and no retention on it. I run pretty high brightness. For my computer i use LG 48" CX which ive had for a year now running at 100% oled light. Computer on about 10-12 hours a day with websites up or gaming. No retention there either. Its really a safe technology right now unless ive been very lucky.
@@Avean there is another comment about a B7 having bad burn-in. The guy even gives up on OLED altogether because of that. Your experience is absolutely opposite wow.
Let's hope the new 42" C2 will be as good as it seems. The new Alienware monitor will probably be so overpriced that the LG tv will look like a bargain next to it.
Interesting video, just had my B7 replaced under warranty due to burn-in. This was caused while the Tv was in mute, with the mute logo burning in the three places it moves too, a feature designed to prevent this very thing from happening So my advice would be to turn it he sound down instead.
I got a 55 inch c1 early last year for my office and just a few weeks ago i bought a 65 inch c1 for my man cave. The 55 is the old style panel while the 65 is an evo panel. The evo panel measures brighter than the older panel. I got 830 nits in the 10 % window stimulus on the 55 and 911 in the same window on the 65 evo. I know it’s not a huge deal but the evo is noticeably brighter.
For your office? Damn, I wish I have a boss like that. All our computers are outdated and my boss doesn't like spending new equipment for the company. His reason is as long as it works, there's no reason to upgrade.
I been using iphone 12 pro max says it has oled and it looks just as good as when it was new. Zero burn in. Could these monitors have a completed non burn in model and companies just made lesser quality model for profit? Every three or so years back to the store to upgrade your red dead pixel or pwm flickering screen headache problems. One dead pixel surely does is not covered in the warranty. Burn in will be your own fault so not covered correct?
Hi, Vicent. I want to make you aware of a LG C1 (at least) problem. Maybe it is for burn in prevention? But is really anoying and I dont know how to prevent. Hoping you to investigate it furthermore and maybe get a response from LG: - Any dolby vision (noticed at Netflix TV app) content when you pause it time enough to turn on the clock of the energy saving, if you play again the content, the image come back very dark. Is easy to know it is dimmer than it should, because the menu of Nerflix, for example, become darker too. The only way to bring it back to normal is coming back to the app homescreen and playing the tittle again, or just pausing it for some seconds. Did you notice something like this before? Update: In a single episode of 1 hour, I had to do this 4 times!! Even without sttoping the episode a single time. I tought it was only after the energy saving wallpaper, but no, it become darker even with the episode playing. It was already a very dark show, it turns in something just unwatchable sometimes (The Haunting of Hill House).
The biggest argument to not buy oled are all these videos out there making lectures and conferences on how to avoid or minimize the risk of burn in. I just can't purchase a TV let alone for this price and leaving with the constant fear of burn in when watching or gaming: what am I allowed to look or play, how long am I allowed to etc
I agree it’s definitely annoying when they say don’t leave static hubs on well every single game has hubs so when LG makes these top features for gaming but then say don’t play for too long is def mixed signals because a gaming tv shouldn’t have a limit of what to play or for how many hours
Image Retention is a much less severe threat than in the past, Static Logo dimming, ABL Pixel refresh, if this isn't enough to reassure you then I'm afraid there's nothing that can be said to change your mind. Whilst I don't think screen burn concern is warranted unless playing hours on end in Vivid mode for prolonged, you'd be better off buying a flagship LED TV if your concerns are that strong. LED TV's have poorer black levels and less detail but would be more suitable in extremely bright viewing room conditions due to a full array back-lighting system. The catch is slightly higher input lag on LED's compared to OLED's near instantaneous pixel response time. Here's some suggestions: Sony X90/X95J - class leading motion and low resolution upscaling, full array backlighting, 120hz HDMI 2.1 with 2 x HDMI 2.1 ports and Dolby Atmos / Vision for movie content The X95J also has an AMAZING anti reflective layer and more dimming zones than the X90J. Hisense U8G - full array backlighting, 4 hdmi 2.1 ports, 120hz panel, poorer motion and upscaling than the Sony BUT supports Samsung's HDR10+ in addition to Dolby formats, pretty irrelevant for gaming but still, a niche! Samsung QN90/QN94A - 120hz, 1XHDMI 2.1, Mini LED and full array backlighting, No Dolby Vision or Atmos support. Samsung are VERY aggressive with their Full Array Local Dimming algorithm will crush shadow detail to improve black levels. Some people think blooming is a deal breaker above all else which is very primitive in my opinion, but if this appeals to you it's another choice I suppose. Sony will have better motion handling but I expect Samsung's QN90/94A to perform better than the Hisense U8G on fast moving scenes.

The fact that they don't just says to customers that it's something they do have to worry about and often isn't covered. If they want to alleviate concerns they should put their money where their mouth is. LED TVs are better even in moderate lighting conditions. Even new QD-OLED panels can only reach 1/4rth the brightness of LED based panels. "Whilst I don't think screen burn concern is warranted unless playing hours on end in Vivid mode for prolonged" Given the brightness output of "Vivid" mode on a QD-OLED is only about 235 cd/m2, I'd say that's just about everyone that doesn't put their TV in a dedicated room with no windows. The catch is slightly higher input lag on LED's compared to OLED's near instantaneous pixel response time." LED TVs do not have less detail, that is just false. In fact depending on the subpixel layout, LED may appear more detailed. I know for a fact that QD-OLED has a subpixel layout that's suboptimal for anything regarding reading or desktop work. LEDs also don't intrinsically have higher input lag. OLEDs have a faster pixel response time but that's only one component in the input lag chain. You also need to factor in processing time and refresh rate delay. In the PC space, OLEDs are beaten out in regards to input lag despite the higher pixel response times.
My parents bought a C8 65" in 2018. They haven't babied it at all, it frequently gets left on Sky News or music channels for hours. Subtitles are always enabled (but set to grey on the main profile) on Netflix etc. Every 6 months or so I check the picture with the full colour RGB etc screens. And to this day there is zero burn in. The EU models do not have anyway to view the total watched hours as far as I know, but this TV has been used for at least ~4 hours a day since late 2018, so let's say ~5000 hours.
@@giglioflex They don’t warranty against burn-in because if even 0.5% of all sets get burn in that’s a lot of money out of their pocket. This is a non-issue for modern LG OLEDs. There’s simply nothing else to say. I’ve used an LG CX as a gaming PC monitor for almost two years, and I don’t have any burn in whatsoever. That’s close to 3,000 hours of use. And I play MMOs. Sometimes for 6+ hours at a time. Tons of bright static HUD elements on the screen. No burn in. The only people hand wringing about OLED burn in are always those who don’t own OLEDs.
I bought an LG c9 back in 2020 and it took around a year of gaming with every screen saving setting enabled to get burn in. Now I have been watching movies and videos with the overlay from ARK survival evolved for over two years now and I am not sure I will ever buy an OLED again. Their were a lot of promises made at the time I bought my C9 and I am not impressed after paying so much for a TV.
Vincent, please be sure to review 65” OLED televisions as they tend to have the worst uniformity issues. This will help give us an idea of which model to buy (EVO vs EX vs QD-OLED)
I'm scratching my head at the need for brighter displays.... HDR already hurts my eyes and had to tone down the peak brightness of my LG C1 because of it. Is the desired effect to get a headache after watching a single movie?
Its for increased colour volume. To get what the human eye sees you higher brightness to show different the different shades of colours its what makes it image appear 3d and window like. It doesn't mean everything is always bright just what is meant to be. Tha max brightness and peffect display is 10,000 nits its 10% of the what the human eye can see and means the image is a window imagine 3d glasses without the glasses.
Question: does OLED panel refresh degrade the rest of the panel to accommodate the “burnt-in” areas or is the burnt-in area itself being driven harder to match its surroundings? Like how does it work?
Here's better analogy - it's harder to push you when you're big bulky man. Because heat is basically molecules movement, heavier means more stable at same temperature (because temperature and kinetic energy are basically the same and kinetic energy is E=1/2*mv^2 by increasing m you can decrease v resulting in same E).
The LG 77C1 has the EVO panel already, and I know some of the later MFG 55/65in panels were coming with them as well I believe. I confirmed my 77in has the EVO panel, don't get the improved brightness but at least in theory the panel should hold up better to burn in.
@@rashonkelly3598 I think all C1's have the EVO panel. They just don't apply the extra brightness. That said, the LG G1 has an EVO panel and it has "20% more brightness". But in reviews the difference between the C1 and G1 was not very large. So a 30% increase over the C1 is probably not going to be all that noticable in most situation. The C1 had a brightness of ~600 nits, where the G1 has ~720 nits. So the EX panels (which are EVO panels, but rebranded) probably have ~780 nits. It will be interesting to see why LG has done this. Is this an answer to Samsung entering the OLED bunisess with their brighter OLED displays? OR have they seen that the 20% extra brightness on the EVO panels has no negative side-effects on lifespan so they can increase brightness further. I hope the latter, because i'm expecting the LG G1 at my doorstep today

Do you think entry price will be similar to that of the C1, so around £2500 for 65” ?
Entry prices of LG OLEDs will be same, if not cheaper if you look at the trend so far. Don't buy C2 day-1...you'll be able to get it much cheaper in just a few months time
@@BrendanEvansX I’ve had it nearly 5 years now and yeah, I have burn in 😔 Mostly from when my kid was younger and was leaving a channel on pause that didn’t have a screensaver. By the time I realised what was happening, it was too late 🤦♂️ LG quoted me for a panel replacement last year but I think I’ll just upgrade the whole thing eventually when I have the funds

Ya but, what about if I have the TV on for about 18 hours/day, 365 days/yr. ? And, sometimes the kids or grandmom leaves it on with a video paused or whatever and we leave and come back 9 hours later to see it still paused? Is an LED/OLED/WLED/QLED better or should I just go with an LCD (QLED?)?
One thing I noticed about my 77 C1, which has the EVO panel, is that it dimms the subtitles pretty fast, due to the benefits of the machine learning algorithm.
does the Panasonic LZ2000 do panel maintenance everytime it is turned off or do i have to activate it?...and if i do this often, will I reduce the lifespan of this tv?
More durability and brighness are great, but making an OLED even thinner is just stupid...it is already very difficult to handle the bigger sized OLED TVs since there are so few places where you can actually lift them or swivel/tilt them...
Hey Vincent, how come under pixel cleaning you can click the ‘operate once when tv is off” and then it will say “scheduled” yet it explains no difference what leaving it as is vs scheduled means.. it would appear not until you “schedule” is pixel refresh on!!? One you click it and it says scheduled it’s not like it prompts you on when and what time .. nothing happens but it saying “scheduled”
I bought a bargain 77C1 recently, so it has an evo/WBE panel and altough it has not unlocked the "brightness boost" like the G1 or C2, will the evo panel still be more power efficient and more durable on the C1 compared to WBC? :) Thanks
my buddy has a CX and uses it as a gaming monitor...he played a ton of games like Destiny 2 and now has the weapon icons and super bar burned into his screen so i think OLED still is not a good advice for people who play a lot of games with static UI elements
That's basically it. They're simply can't withstand hardcore abuse. No OLED out there will be able to withstand the abuse I throw at it for its full lifespan. I'd be surprised if it'll even last more than 3 years before showcasing permanent burn-in. I have no problem recommending it to casual folks and whatnot, but it's still a massive problem for users like me. And heck, by the time I replace my TV around 2025 or so even LED will be practically indistuingashable from OLEDs anyhow outside of extreme test situations.
@@thenonexistinghero I have 0 burn on my 55 CX after 19 months. Everything set to 100. Ofc I take care of it , screen saver is always on if the screen is static for too long and pixel refresher. So I think his friend is doing something wrong. Also tv is on like 16 hours a day and using a 3090 and a PS5. So from a hardcore gamer it's got my approval. I just miss the days of Samsung where i took 0 care of my Tv, that's all.
@@biohead66 19 months is only a year and a half, that's nothing. Not a single OLED out there is capable of withstanding hardcore usage for the normal lifetime of a TV (7-10 years).

I have bought a second hand LG E6 65" (last 3D display from LG)for the 3D and it has burn in. I wanted to replace the panel but new panels are 2D only. What can I do with the permanent burning in red only?
Back in 2017 everyone was saying burn-in was no longer a thing, just like they're saying now. So I bought a C7, then 4 years later my oled has it, lol. Don't think I can ever trust this tech again, it's just too much money for only 4 years. It's beautiful, but it comes with a big drawback of unpreventable uneven wear, and you can baby it all you want, but it simply has a much shorter lifespan, and I don't think there's any trick that can truly prevent that.
They will reduce the max brightness on the 42 and 48 inch C2 Evo panels to make them last longer, so that they are more usable as "monitors". That is my conclusion at least.
LG is NOT making "monitors" in OLED flavor. Stop calling the 42 and 48 displays "monitors" they are tv sized panels and LG only sells televisions (their monitors haven't gone oled yet, because wrgb is garbage for monitor use due to subpixel layout aka text looks like shit). ASUS may use those panels and sell "monitors" but they are still "televisions"
Nice video! Could you maybe do same test on maybe smartphones in the future? They also got a OLED display. Could be interesting to compare tv OLED and smartphone oled!
ABL can't be switched of on any tv ! ... this is a hardware protection measure to prevent the tv from destroying itself. ASBL on the other side CAN be de-activated ... but only on LG OLED tvs and Samsung's S95B (both through changes in the service menu) ... all other brands are not allowing to de-activate it.
WRGB OLED from LG is essentially a layer of all red subpixels, another layer of all blue subpixels, and another layer of green subpixels. this makes "white". they then use really bad color filters to create red blue and green respectively, while leaving the 4th subpixel as "white".... QD-OLED is simply the blue compound, all blue subpixels, and then using a layer of samsungs quantum dots to convert to color. which only lose about 5% light. where as the WRGB from LG uses typical color filters which lose upwards of 50% light output (hence the 4th white subpixel).
@@goblinphreak2132 Yes we get all that - but lets see real world tests - on stand media from - TV , SDR , to current HDR movies , to content the really pushes the BT. 2020 colour space . If I watch a movie - I do not watch it sub optimally - off access , sunlight streaming in , radio on etc . So all that about reflective screen, off access is totally 100% meaningless . Maybe even brightness is not that important - so leaving colour saturation and control QD-OLED can bring dark areas ( as no white ) - don't worry overly at burn in - My country protects my consumer rights & not a huge problem
Sorry if I missed the point, but a majority of the change sounded like software (machine learning to improve algorithms) while the conclusion focused on hardware (the panel itself). Can the software portion of the improvements be rolled out to 2021 G1/Evo owners via firmware update? What are the odds of LG doing that?
@Braden Sheff: Unfortunately it's because of the software improvements (machine learning to predict OLED compensation) that hardware changes to the OLED panel (elimination of some sensing lines, resulting in higher aperture ratio) were made.
I am interested in a TV for my new PS5, I was looking at LG C model's. In one of your video's you were talking about prices drop, so I would like you opinion show I wait for LG C 2 to drop in price or go for LG C 1. About the price drops Black Friday is the best time right?
Very informative! I really am curious if these new panels will also allow for less aggressive, or even removal of ABL. I bought a C1 and I loved it, except for that. And ultimately I returned it because it was just so distracting and ruining great HDR. Is it possible we will see any tv do that this year? My (limited) understanding is that the TVs need heat sinks to allow for no ABL. But again, I’m still very much learning.
After a year now with my C9 i got the first mentionable burn in markings. I use it on my desk for CAD and Games, YT and Films. But mostly one Game. So.. the burn ins are on the task bar, where i clearly see some ICONS poppin through.. And the Stats, Counter and Overview of this one mentioned game. Its hardly to see in normal use, but on 1 color only pictures they really pop. :/
What were your habits regarding the different good practices (no permanent taskbar, lvl of brightness, etc) ? How much time approx would you estimate your play time? :)
@@bobcoco6047 uhm.. alot? i mean, to be fair. i use it so much i am kinda impressed the burn ins are so minor. So i would still recommend this tv.. i also bought it for just 1.3k € fair enough for the degredation.. as long it works and has no failures. usage depends.. from 2- 12h a day

Will the C2 be much better than the C1, making worthy to sell my C1 55" to get the C2? Or I will be fine for at least the next 3 years? Thanks in advance!
i have a question so i recently bought a PS5 and i want to buy an OLED TV but im not sure if i should wait for LG new C2 TV or buy the C1 one thing is that i dont want to spend more than 1500 dlls (cant afford to spend to much money) so my question is is LG C1 good enough for the PS5 or should i wait for C2 to see price drops on C1 and also see specs of C2 and pricing?
Nice review. I am glad there is something in the works to extend oled life span. I am used to Sony TVs non oled that last forever. My current model is a 32 inch Sony Bravia thats about 12 years old. Hasn't missed a beat. I would want an oled to follow suit if I were to buy one.
I was like you had a 2008 series 8 LED Samsung for 13 years. Upgraded to a Qled first, got blown away , then I got an OLED , got even more blown away and now I'm waiting for something good to upgrade. Maybe next year with a QDOled.
@@intelligence6900I still use a 2013 Sony 1080p. Looks great. I'd like an upgrade, but at the same time don't need to drop $2-4k for my current usage. I tend to like to buy the top end model. Which means it lasts 10 years easily enough while still performing well, but it's a big decision to buy
The choice at 5:45 minute can do the user. He can reduce the brightness. I think the LG OLED screen is great because the panel could be very, very bright but it isn't. So I think it will not burn in. Also I see a difference. My sister had an Samsung S4 and its burned in after 2 years. My wife has an iPhone X still today for 3 years. There is no burn in.
I owned two LGs and One Samsung oled TV and they all had burn-in. I only watch movies and tv shows on netflix and do not do gaming. Stay away from OLEDs!

Hey Vincent . Quick Question if you see this. The C1 does not decode dts and you cannot pass it to your receiver . Some people are saying there is a way to pass it to a receiver using eARC . Do you have any knowledge of this and if so how do you do it?
I took back 2 oled TVs (C1 and A80J) before settling for an X90J. Why? Because the grid issue on the LG was very distracting when looking at a bright sky (which most games have) and the Sony had these 2 lines going down the middle of the screen about 2inches apart (this occurs I think on every A80J but most people probably don’t care). It was really bad for games though via certain coloured skys etc. until these issues get sorted I don’t care how bright the brights get and how black the blacks get, the X90J hasn’t given me any of these issues so I’m sticking with lcd for a while
@@ArtVandelayOfficial maybe 😆…but for 1.5k I don’t want the grid stuff which is pretty common I’ve seen in the blogs, if I’m looking outside at the sky I don’t expect to see weird lines and if I do I’m going to the doctor. A TV is supposed to be clean at the very least and this isn’t a banding issue that can go away, it’s something built in hardware wise.
I've got an LG C7 from 2017, burn in is extreme and I only used it for normal TV viewing, I have sensitive eyes and don't like ultra bright displays, so I purposely turn the brightness way down, which I thought might help prevent burn in, also I was careful not to leave it on in set top box menus or anything, I'm disgusted at the level of burn in, it's now showing a faint thick green horiz line right across it. After spending £1500 on it I will NOT be trusting an OLED going forwards - remember when buying a TV was a once in 15 year thing!?
I have the C7 as well and have already replaced the panel (thank you, Costco extended warranty!). I'm thinking this panel probably only has another couple of years left in it, but the picture quality is so good I'm absolutely going to replace it with another OLED (with the extended warranty :D )
@@lefteris19 Don't be naive and stupid, OLED technology in phones has been around commercially since 2003 (GSMArena article), and in TV's since 2007 (Sony XEL-1)! Are you trying to tell me 10+ years on the market is too early!? "Go ahead and buy..." - Well I thought I made my point - After pouring £1500 down the drain on a fundamentally flawed technology only 4 yrs ago. How about NO.
My LG C9 has the best burn-in prevention system: The screen is so dark and the ABL & ABSL cannot be disabled which means I almost never use the TV, and therefore the risk of burn-in is prevented.
ABL and ABSL must be available to turn off in Advanced settings or Service menu. Might mess with your warranty, but if I were you, I'd try fixing the issue than stopping using a nice TV altogether.
One thing I noticed about my 77 C1, which has the EVO panel, is that it dimms the subtitles pretty fast, due to the benefits of the machine learning algorithm.
All this explanations are nice, but! All I know is that I purchased 2 LG E series OLEDs (a 55 inch and a 65 inch) and both suffer from severe burn-in. I've contacted LG with the issue and their US based customer service is the worst I've ever experienced with any company. They DO NOT care about their customers. They set up a replacement of the panels, but want $450.00 PER PANEL for the labor. I will never buy LG again!
On LTT Linus was showing how he and another tech guy got burn in on their CX's already ("Being an Early Adopter" on youtube), and they had to buy a special factory remote from LG to access extended hidden controls of the panel in order to combat their burn in and in the end they concluded their wasn't much you can do to not get burn in if you clock a certain amount of hours each day and even with brightness lowered... Watchin that through me off the track of considering the c1 as a monitor. Anyone else see that? any thoughts?
Complete bullshit had a 77 cx from day one running most likely 10-14 hours a day maybe a day here and there its not on. But 80% hdr content and hdr gaming with a pc. Seriously you have to try very hard with one of this panels to get burn in....

@@charleyweinhardt literally i have gaming pc in my home cinema which i have used b6 and cx and now a90j all no problems game long hours. Its just about varied content. Dont repeat the same thing again and again just 4 hours of somrthing different but i also just use my head a little bit i set the backround to black and yes go on internet view webpages done it all its fine. Its usaully a logo or something say on the news with bright red or yellow rhat can cause a problem and if you leave that on for hours on end yes it will eventually have burn in. With the new panels such cx onwards you really do have to be trying though
@@charleyweinhardt the b6 is used upstairs as pc monitor the oled that started the burn in risk with no protection methods and worse panel design. Still no burn in used downstairs for 4 years and upstairs for at least a year. I dont know why people worry such much. I guess samsungs marketing plow worked althougb they look stupid having to admit its not such a problem with them switching to oled.

My point is, I'm not buying any LG OLED, got rid of the new one I just bought because I was unimpressed with it other than black levels, even after calibration. Hopefully the prices end up decent, but I won't know until they give me my dealer pricing. Cheers
@@luis-ciphermstar6597I wouldnt be suprised if the 65 inch qdoled would be around 5000. For a first generation product with low yields I would say its not terrible.
I used to put RU-vid music ambience videos on my TV that would be themed such as coffee shop or fireplace at Christmas with some jazz versions of holiday music for an hour or 2 while reading or cleaning, but since I got my LG C2 oled, I'm worried that if I put these videos on I will ruin my panel. Does anyone have any insight, am I worrying too much?
I don't care about how much brighter they get. I care about not having ABL so it doesn't pull me out of my immersion when watching media. Not a huge issue to many people but I would rather have a C1 from 2021 without ABL than a C whatever from 2022 that is 30% brighter.
@@Xolition ABL = Auto Brightness Limiter. When you watch a movie or a tv show and suddenly a bright scene pops up (60% or more of the screen is bright) it will automatically dim and to me is very noticeable and pulls me out of the immersion.
@@dante19890 Sure but I don't buy a $1000+ TV to set the brightness super low. I want to enjoy the TV and for that I want it at a decent brightness. Just waiting for an OLED without ABL and I will be golden.
if LG is so good at preventing burn in, how come they arent confident enough to have something against "burn in" under warranty for a certain amount of years. ill stick to neo qled samsung.
Very True that’s what makes this topic suspect but the G1 and G2 does come with a 5 year warranty now does that cover burn in LG says yes but not if you abused the TV whatever that means lol
But did they turn off the annoying auto-dimming feature that after 5-10 minutes makes dark scenes darker for no reason - the one that can only be turned off via a service remote ?
I just bought a new 48 inch C1 as a monitor. I got burn in on the 2nd day because my curtains fell while I went to work (moved into a new house). The Arizona sun damaged my C1. It sucks......
wow, is few hours of direct sunlight enough to make a mark? :O do people really install then only in dark cellars so sun will never shine directly on it?
