LG Refrigerator Problems 

This is a terrible idea do not do this. first of all on inverter compressors it's very important to weigh the charge in not just shoot gas in there without knowing how much you're putting in. Second of all you're letting air and contaminants in there.

Please don't tell people to do this. While you were pushing in on the valve stem you were allowing air into the system. These fridges run in or near a vacuum and use less then 5 oz. Of freon for the whole box. I will give it to you that you were probably low on freon but anyone who hasn't had their compressor replaced won't have that port. I would say whoever replaced it probably didn't seal the system right and it will happen again. In the mean time that frosted line will drip once the compressor shuts on and will most likely find a way to the wall and start to cause problems. I would at least pull it out and check if it is rotting the wall now. Best of luck with it.

The fact that their is no vacuum on the system when being charged, probably didn’t have the compressor running , I’m 100% positive the refrigerator was over charged and system contaminated. This is no where near good advice and would never recommend any homeowner do this without proper equipment and knowledge to service your refrigerators sealed system

It is overcharged. Refrigerant needs to be metered in with a scale. Most only take 6-8 OZ. You have twice that amount. Freezer will not work overcharged.

All these people saying you don't know what your doing. ... nobody wants to pay $100 for someone to come out and diagnose something. If his fridge stayed cold then dope....diy nowadays is way cheaper than calling someone out. Kudos dude.... F all these naysayers

Wow. Mother earth is crying now with much purging. Introducing liquid refrigerant is bad for compressor but hey its fast. I believe domestic compressor like that doesn't come with shreader valve but I salute the homeowner fix special.

There is a fact that I want to understand about these LG refrigerators that has linear compressors in them,when these compressors goes bad,is it compulsory to replace these compressors with linear compressors or another brand will still work.

So my LG refrigerator has the fresh food not working but the freezer part is cold. Ice maker is working. Just the fridge part, French doors, stays at 50 degrees F. Inside the fridge part the fan is working. Is it the computer board?

After doing that if you’re refrigerator turns out to be properly charged I’d be extremely surprised and say you got extremely lucky. First of all if there is very little or no refridgerant left that means you have a leak that needs to be repaired before refrigerant can be added again. Second it was so obvious you guys did not know what you guys were doing. Turning the bottle upside down does charge the system faster but it also puts LIQUID into the system which is not good for the compressor.
