I just got a fridge 3 Doors given to me for Free, cause it was Broken,,, I just followed your instructions and guess What's??? Working like a CHAMP!!!!!!! Thank you so Much..🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
FYI everyone! I had the same problem. Followed everything showed in this very informative video. Unfortunately, 22 22 display doesn't mean it's the relay problem in my case. It was the compressor leak and LG had it fixed under its extended 5 yrs warranty. Otherwise, it would have cost me $550 (parts and labor).
Thanks for your help. Tried this. Restarted the device. No warning codes and air flow tests worked. The condenser still hummed during tests; however ultimately, the condenser was the culprit and needed to be replaced - this has been a common issue for models purchased the past 5-6 years as I understand. We purchased our unit in 2017. We called LG and sought the extended warranty and would recommend it if you run into this situation as well.
It's still an issue. I wish I just got a regular fridge to be honest. 3 times ours went into a 24 hour defrost mode from what they told us. No errors. And it always take 3 to 4 days to blow cold air again. Ours is 4 years old and all in all, we've had to throw away over 1000 dollars worth of food. Once again, I went through all of the diagnostics with them again and they have to send another tech out. But, they have no one available lol. So, I can either find one myself and hope they get approved or wait for them to call back because they put us on a "priority" list. Yeah, they told us that last time as well. And no one ever called. It just started blowing cold air again. It's such a nightmare. We don't leave the doors open, don't put hot food in there, don't block the vents. And, this started happening within the first year we purchased will still no answer. I think they automatically started extending warranties because we had a 3 year, but when I called today, they said it's 5 now for parts and repair and 10 to 15 years for the seal. But, if it's the condenser, only the part is covered. The installation will cost us money apparently. I'll never buy one of these again.
@@jasonzimmerman2384 Same here I will never buy another LG refrigerator. Mine stoped working and I am not strong enough to pull it out to try to electrocute myself. I will unplug and replug it to see if it comes back to life.
@@loralieisa I feel your pain. I'm a big guy and these fridges are huge. I tried unplugging it for an entire day and then plugging it back in; I tried putting it into demo(store mode) and then back into normal mode, and I took off the electrical cover and ran the diagnostics. I got no errors at all. LG told me they think it's the compressor and I waited about 10 days before I finally just bought a 30 inch GE fridge. LG called after 12 days saying they still had no one available for the foreseeable future to come out and fix it. I don't know how long they expect families to go without a refrigerator, but this was ridiculous. The salesman at the store where I bought the new fridge said they sell LG and Samsung, but they always try to convince people to go with other brands. LG is nothing but problems. I saw they had a class action lawsuit on their refrigerators that was settled in 2020. Basically, all they had to do was extend people's warranties, but there are loopholes where when the tech comes out, either the part or the repair job isn't covered. I hope yours starts working again. We went through it multiple times and threw away at least 3 full food orders because of it. This last time, it just wouldn't get cold again and it was only a little over 3 years old
I can't thank you enough for this video. My LG is a 2009 model works beautifully, but we had rolling black outs in Alabama. So of course on a Saturday it stops blowing cold. Unplugging has done the trick for now, but on Monday going to utility department to file paper work for replacement. After all it is a 2009 refrigerator.
Hi Cynthia! If you see this soon please let me know more about "filing for replacement?" - I got mine 11/20/2017 so it's only 5 yrs and 2 mths old! It went out 5 months ago and had to have the compressor replaced. Now it has gone out again! I hate this fridge! They paid for compressor and labor .The class action law suit made them extend the compressor warranty to 10 yrs but now I will have to pay for the labor because now I am 2 mths over the 5 yr labor warranty period. Wondering if somehow I can make them give me a new fridge w/o the faulty LINIER compressor in it? Thank you!
@@scottyboy2400 I haven't heard back from my Utilities Co. yet. So either way my problem does not appear to be the compressor, but the mother board component. I have decided if it goes out again, just fix what I have.
@@ittapew They had a huge lawsuit brought against them. They tried to fix it two or three times then decided to give me a pro-rated refund plus they gave me 20% rebate if I bought another LG. I talked to a lot of service men and they said LG no longer uses those faulty compressors. They actually said stay away from Samsung. - Anyway call LG and tell them yours is ony 4 yrs old. If the 2019 model has the faulty compressor in it they HAVE to fix it or refund it according to the law suit. Don't let them jerk you around! - Good luck and God bless!
Hey thank you for the video my dad and I were troubleshooting until we came across your video we did all the testing.found the problem and now we have a fridge that works. Thank you so much! 💕 From New Hampsha!
I get the panic yell from wife. Everything in the freezer's top shelf has frost all over. We cleaned that up the best we could. I check the LG app on my phone and it says both the normal and freezer compartments are waaaay over their set temperature (which are: 3c and -19c). I am thinking this is compressor failure, not good. Panic cleaning of the vents in the back of the LG (they were pretty clean anyway) and unplugging it for 1 minute. I could not hear the compressor immediately after the reset, but after a few minutes it was audible. Hmm, there is hope. Then I checked the LG app again and the temperature status for both compartments changed to "we make cold aiir at the right temperature to store food". I put my race car's tire temp sensor in the normal compartment (lol) and as I can see from the glass window, within 1.5hr it went from 12c to 6c, so it appears to be working for now! I don't dare open the freezer door for now (if the fridge is failing, let me at least get a good night sleep haha). I also did a diagnostics check on the LG app, and everything checked OK. Weird. Is it possible it was fluke that the reset cured, or should I place a service call first thing Monday morning?
Thanks for making this detailed and informative video! I️ might have just binged a bunch of your other videos. Haha. Do you have some that go into the blinks and how to fix those issues? Model: LFDS22520S - ASTCNA4 Freezer isn’t freezing. high pitch sound comes on and off. We have 3 red blinks on the back panel.
Hello sir! Your video was perfect for me! Question for you of how much of a vibrate should I feel from the compressor? My fridge is working fine but my freezer was dead this morning. Any help you can give?
Compressor good, fans, good, swapped out the relay...still no cooling...getting 22 22...pcb board is blinking 6 times, not overheated..wtc...any ideas? Thank you again 🎉
Very helpful video. Seems like my fresh food fan turns on half the time. Sometimes the fridge is at 38 degrees and other times 48-50 degrees when I open. I recently changed the control board (thought that was the issue) and it solved the issue for a week. Now the fan is working half the time again. Any ideas?
@@Lotusrk123 this is the exact same problem I'm having with the piece of junk. I changed the control board about 9 months ago and now it's cooling, just not cooling enough and won't freeze? Anything you guys could add to this would be beneficial to this mystery?
@@Lotusrk123 This makes little if any sense. I will presume you went thru the diagnostics? So did the diagnostics mode 1 or 2 operate the compressor? If it did, does that not mean the “run capacitor” was functioning for the compressor?
hey man great video! my LG has a weird issue...if i set the refrigerator to 5c the unit emits a buzzing noise..if i set it to 3c or 1c the issue goes away..I would appreciate any troubleshooting tips
Why doesn’t LG make a video like this? Why am I watching some random guy who may or may not know what he is doing? How about holding down the buttons that control temperature for fridge and freezer? Doesn’t that “reset “ the damn thing?
My LG is not cooling to the set temps. Fridge or freezer. I ran the test and both fans came on full blast. But, out of test mode, nothing again. Thoughts?
These LG refrigerators are absolute junk. Mine died 6 years after purchase when the compressor broke, along with the ice maker. The LG customer service is a fraud. While the compressor is supposed to be covered by a ten (10) year warranty, you have to pay for the service calls and al labor, as well as all parts needed to fix it, with the exception of the compressor itself. This means you are paying for the R-134a freon evacuation and re-charge expense, seals, environmental disposal fees, etc. LG Customer Service is a joke. I was shuttled back and forth between robot answering machines and humans from a foreign country (possibly Filipinos) who couldn't really understand or speak English, only could read questions from a prepared script but not understand your answers to those questions. Scheduling a service call is a nightmare they are so booked up with repairs. They wanted me to wait a week for someone to come out and just look at it, not fix it. We just went out a bought a Bosch refrigerator. The hell with LG products, Don't buy LG!
I had the same experience. I spent 30 minutes on the phone. They gave me an appointment for 6 days out. So my food is ruined, i have to go out to eat for 6 days and I wager that he will likely order a part to fix it and i will be waiting even longer. I won't buy an LG again. I am considering buying another refrigerator and chalk this up as a learning experience to not buy an LG product. I called another service company and told them it was an LG. Based on my description of the problem he said he doesn't even have to come out to look at it and he is 99% sure it is the compressor.
My freezer went from making ice just fine, to not making any ice. It's not clogged. It's on, I made sure. I've tried turning the ice maker on and off and again and nothing. I'm going to try unplugging it and plugging it back in. Should I try and reset it?
Thank you for video. So, on my first test (pushing button once first time), everything works while in testing. Second test, airflow great in both part of fridge. Later though after test, fridge seems to work (compressor vibrates and fan at the bottom spins) but there's no air flow inside the fridge nor freezer, doesn't get any cooler Any ideas what else can be one?
So if there are no blinking led lights then you are good to go? My freezer was making a crazy noise so I took everything apart in the back, cleaned it all out and then ran those test modes. I allowed it to defrost, i even got out a blow dryer to help speed it along. Once that was done so far it works fine. Im guessing it just froze up and needed to be defrosted. Will know more in the morning.
I couldn't understand the difference between the first and second reset that you did. Both times it appeared that you were seeing if you could feel air movement from the fridge then the freezer, and both times you did. What was the difference between the tests? It's the first things you did after removing the panels and plugging it back in. My fridge section seems to be staying cold, but the freezer quit working this morning. Aside from pulling the bottom freezer drawer all the way out of the unit, I can't reach the fan output to feel if it's blowing at all. My unit is the LG LRDCS2603S, its basic with the single fridge door on top and freezer on bottom, no water in door. There is an ice maker, but it's never been hooked up, so never used. The unit was bought in June 2021. We pulled it out from the wall, unplugged it, vacuumed the vents out, vacuumed underneath, removed the few melted ice trays that were in the top freezer drawer, mopped up the melted ice, plugged it back in - the panel numbers remained on the same settings (mine only shows the selected settings, not what it actually = is Freezer 0 / -35 Refrigerator) When I listened at the side of it after plugging it back in I could hear something like gears moving for a few seconds, then I could hear what I think is the fan running. The old style basic models filter air between the fridge and the freezer, do these also work that way? I was thinking, if that is the case, maybe the vent between the two is clogged and the air isn't getting to the freezer - but how would you unclog it? There is a panel inside the back of the fridge that says MULTI-AIR-FLOW. I tried to see if I could take it off, to see if that's the vent, but it wouldn't move. I'm pretty handy, with electrical, cars, carpentry, etc.. but fridges have me lost.
I watched the video a few more times... When you hit the button the second time, if air seems to only be moving through to the freezer, did you say the evaporator fan isn't working?
Thanks for sharing this video. My LG Ref stopped pushing air and stopped cooling, however compressor and fan on the back is working. When I run the test you mentioned, I can feel the air coming out from the ref. And fridge. Once I unplug it and replug it, no air or cooling again. What should I do? The motherboard is clean. The lid light is not blinking
Do I have to go through all three test modes because as soon as I got the the third test mode, both the compressor and fan stopped running. When I got to the second mode both the compressor and fan were running for the first few minutes then went silent after that. Thanks.
Greetings. How long does the lights normally last💡? Mine currently needs 😫 compressor. Got it in 2016. I've read in two different places that LG will cover both the part and the part and repairs. But when I call them, they I'm getting mixed stories. I also have a home warranty. And they only want to do a cash out. I keep hearing a popping or clicking sound coming from the back of the fridge. Your video has been very informative!
Mine had that clicking noise in the back and it ended up being the control board. I ended up finding a used one on eBay for $20. Pretty simple to install and as soon as I put it in the clicking stopped and it started working. Now I have another, completely separate problem with this piece of junk!
Same .. wasted 2 hours on phone and was transferred five times Each to the next person that supposedly could help me telling the story every time. The last one told me that somebody would call me and set up an appointment for a free repair and replace the food that I lost the second time. I had the compressor replaced after five years. They paid for the part, but hooked me up with a company for the labor and I still paid $700 With no food reimbursement … Finally got the phone call I was waiting for only to be told by the “highest person in their company” lol … Wouldn’t transfer me to anybody else. At that point what did this matter cause I knew I was just being abused…. She told me my fridge was way too old and way way way out of date for them to do anything except give me a 10% off coupon for one of their preferred repair companies. I am laughing so hard while I’m putting this message out there. This company is a joke, and I can’t wait until they go out of business because they get a lawsuit from all of these people. There is a Law firm in California that’s on this right now, so Google it and maybe they can help you at least get on the list. I did do all the steps that was suggested in the video, plugged it back in and now nothing’s happening with the fridge?
My 4 year old LG, top of the line, most expensive model you could get from them died 3 days ago. A repair tech is coming out today, i'm afriad to know how much this will cost.
In business Everything is a Service. When you buy a refrigerator, the refrigerator is the tool that the seller (company) uses to provide the service of reliable cold food storage. In this regard LG and Lowes have completely Failed. The LG refrigerator we bought from Lowes never worked right from the start. Lowes referred us to LG Customer (NO) Support. They made multiple appointments (not all kept) and replaced the compressor and a logic board, but the refrigerator side of the device will still not work. Now this two month old refrigerator is providing even worse Service than the Poor Service it was providing when it was delivered. If you value Service, save your Grand+ by not buying an LG and don’t buy an appliance from Lowes (their appliance support policy is the worst).
I'm curious, How did you get someone to call back, to get it fixed. All CS does. is take report and push it up with a phone call promise in a few days, which never comes. Then they claim no service repairman in my area. No repairman in N.Y. City Really
The refrigerator feels cool not cold. The door items feel cold but what is on the top shelf feels barely cold. The freezer is working great. The ice maker won't drop the ice unless I press the reset button on the ice maker. Did the reset and the code on the front said 22 and 22 for the refrigerator and freezer. Compressor replaced 2 months ago. What could it be? LG LFX33975ST
I had a lg technician swap out a new compressor, condenser, fridge and freezer evaporator and it’s still not working 😢. I don’t know what’s left thermostat and motherboard? Any advice TIA
Have an lg lfx28968st that seems to have stopped cooling. Compressor is working as is evaporator fan. When you go through the resets to check however, on reset 2, doesn't seem like the compressor turns off. In this step when the internal fans are checked air is moving. However, after doing the reset back to operation mode the internal fans no longer run. Any idea what could cause this? I don't see any LED error codes either
My freezer wasn’t freezing so I followed the steps and pressed the rest button. The air flow came back on, but after a few moments it turns of on its own. Now both the fridge and freezer have no air flow, even though the refrigerator is plugged in. Do you know what the problem is? Appreciate the video!
You have been fu#ked by LG just like the rest of us who bought an LG refrigerator. The compressors go bad within a few years and LG makes no serious effort to replace it.
I did the reset on mine. The compressor and the fans come on, but it runs for a short period of time and shuts off. The compressor runs longer. What else could it be?
My freezer got so cold it created frost, my brother reseted it and the frost is mostly gone but its been a week and there is still some. The temperature is set at 1°
BS. LG stands for Lemon Grande. Don’t think Best Buy or the useless Geek Squad will help either. Want to spend hours on hold, call LG direct. You are better off only buying groceries that don’t need to be refrigerated if this was your only choice. 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬😡😡
Our Kenmore is 5 1/2 yrs old. We were told it's the compressor but it still vibrates. How can we know for sure it is a bad compressor and not something else?
@KooperSalmo question. Did the test like the video.and plugged it back on, but the fans won't come on like they did in the testing mode. What could be the problem? Frig and freezer worked during testing mode but not in normal operation.
I went through the test modes and all checked out , but then after unplugging and leaving off for more then 10 seconds it’s not blowing air like it was on the test modes .. Why doesn’t it run on its own then ?
I have a question. My LG French door refrigerator is not even 2 months old. And it's freezing pitchers of water and gallons of milk. Lol they don't make them like they used to!!!
I did test, fans inside worked , went thru defrost mode 15 minute and restarted, freezer and frig fans can not feel air like damper in them closed up ? board ?
Same exact fridge , my ice machine tray makes a ticking noise and sticks makes no ice. Any help?? And how do you change the filter in back wall of fridge, air flow one? Can't fig out how to take cover off. Thanks ahead!!
I had to replace my ice maker assembly once also look on eBay people list the whole section for like $100 and it’s easy to install just a few screws and a few wire sockets easy job just make sure it’s the exact replacement by taking yours apart first and check the connections match
@@markvermeulen1372 I was being serious. Those damn filters are tight at first and appear like it will break if you apply force. Once you replace the first time they are not so tight the second time. I do apologize if it hurt your feelings🤦🏻♂️
Hi can i have a question when i reset 1time and second time the fan that runing but when i take plug out and put on again the fan not run and the air i don't few the air
Mine is really hot too! From the videos I've just watched it shouldn't be this way - and it may be caused by a few different issues. Please post if you find a solution because right now I'm on the verge of calling someone out to fix this at a most-likely inflated cost
Same here. And when I unplug and take it out of test mode I get no cold air blowing in fridge or freezer. Anyone know what this means? What needs to be replaced?
Just a heads up for anyone looking to buy a fridge, don’t buy LG. I have this exact same model. The ice maker is so so weak it cannot keep up with a small family. A $100 ice maker will perform 10x better then this. I spend over 3k for this fridge. On top of that the ice gets stuck and it doesn’t dispense cubes sometimes. Total regret
2:50 minutes on the video. Screen shot it or pause the video. Hopefully you were able to fix the issue by now since this comment is 5 months old. Hope this comment helps someone else though.
My fridge would cool to 60 and freezer to 40. I watched multiple videos and tried all the tips. All said and done, no change. Fans work, coil is clean and so on. Still won’t cool to where it should be. Everything is clean now and sounds normal but still won’t work. My LG French Door was built in 2017 and I called in my claim in Oct of 2022. Clearly out of warranty. Without an argument, LG is sending someone out this week (parts and labor included) at no charge. They will also reimburse me for food spoilage (take photos of the waist).
What ended up being the issue? Mine is in similar state. Fridge is cycling between 54-64F and the freezer is around 28F. I just threw away all the food. It's going to be almost a week before they can send someone out to troubleshoot so I'm trying to see what I can figure out in the meantime.
So I have the same issue my freezer and fridge weren’t cooling and I did the reset which I found in another video. But only my freezer started working I don’t get air flow from my fridge vents even in test mode only the one running to the door ice maker
My LG compressor is hot to the touch. The fridge runs at 50°F, the freezer is at 40°F. I’ve done all the troubleshooting in this video, but to no avail. My motherboard does not have an LED light though, so it’s not showing an error code. I’ve seen in multiple videos people touching the compressor to make sure it’s vibrating, but no one has said it’s hot, so I’m guessing my compressor is bad.
Don’t buy one ever they don’t work I’ve had one 3yrs and it’s caused nothing but problems and there service is trash on getting someone to fix Get Kenmore or Maytag
The repair men should have used a power tester to see if the LEDs were getting power. It’s very hard to say without me being there, but whoever looks at it will have to use a power tester to see where the current is flowing or where the problem is located.
