Predicted this wouldntt be that great for a 2 year refresh. Picked up S95QR months ago. Save money, you definitely want that led display and some actually great rear speakers with Atmos effects. WOW Orchestra might have some echo in old HD content but S95QR still the best from LG if u want LG only
WOW Orchestra hasn't worked from day one for me with my LG C4. Cuts out occasionally and then doesnt work and have to do a reset on the TV and soundbar. Wish it would work because I like it. Post on Reddit a few times but no solution.
Hey RTINGS, everyone keeps talking about the S95TR and its new upfiring center speaker. The S95QR has the same thing. Aside from LG mentioning it at CES I am unsure why people keep talking about it as a new thing. Any idea?
Man it's hard for anyone to dethrone Samsung in soundbars. They've remained on top for many years, and no one seems to come close, other than the super expensive models.
Thanks for the review RTINGS team! If I'm using this soundbar with the G4, would plugging a PS5 directly into one of the TV's HDMI ports take advantage of 2.1? Glad I was able to snag this soundbar for 30% off last month for my new pad 😁
Lg have never really competitively priced and pushed their soundbar division against other manufacturers very well. This soundbar maybe better than its predecessor but there's no reason not to get the Samsung q990c which is considered one of the best on the market and has been going through some aggressive pricing discounts for a while now while lg's s95qr has been sat at is full rrp for pretty much most of its lifespan. That tells me how much lg cares about trying to compete in the soundbar market.
I have S95TR and find the subwoofer is very weak. It is connected to LG G4 television. It is terrible to listen to music on because it produces a high pitched shrill sound that is very hard on the ears. It is so bad that I purchased another system for listening to music on. The Subwoofer is weak to the point that you would never tell the system has a subwoofer unless you were told first. No amount of setting changes and re calibrations make any difference. It is paired OK and works just very weak. I am currently in discussion with LG about this. I would not advise purchasing this soundbar based on my experience.
When it comes to soundbars only a few are worth buying and i have yet to hear a good one from LG. Stick to Samsung, and Sony if you can afford the top models. Or if money is not a problem then Nakamichi comes to mind.
Sony massively overpriced for what they are. With their new soundbar lineup, you need the accompanying subs/rears. Despite saying the soundbar alone is sufficient, it really isn’t. Samsung is the best bang for buck. JBL are also pretty decent (Samsung sister brand)
After upgrading to the lastest LG soundbar for the past few generations, I am SO happy to having swapped to a Samsung Q990D. In saying that the LG soundbar app is miles ahead of Samsungs SmartThings.
