Hey everyone! Hope you have fun watching this one. We sure had fun making it! Shocking how much power it takes to make a screen this big as bright (and loud) as it does. I wonder if an OLED screen would reduce reliance on battery enough to drop the battery weight. Probably would not get bright enough, though. What do you think?
Hello, thank you for your great videos you are helping me a lot, this is a bit off topic but after seeing your videos I have decided to buy a TCL TV, either the C741K or C745K the C745K is £100 more expensive then the C741k but the specs look identical according to TCL website, so I’m hoping you can tell me if there is an actual difference or not.. kindest regards..
I ordered one of these as a portable production monitor for our video production studio. The size and flexibility really make it a great price and a lot of times we are shooting vertical so having a monitor that switches back and forth easily is a huge bonus.
would be really coolif it was an OLED for production use. I think they went with LCD as they think people that are tailgating would want to use it outside int he daytime. Id rather just use a iPad 12.9", it's not as big, but much, much more versatile and gets brighter, battery last much longer, and essentially does the same thing just in a smaller screen size. I think most people would rather have a 12.9" iPad Pro at half the price then this suit case unit. its cool, and may serve some use, like how you are using it for video production, but not sure these will sell that much at all. Its still cool they tried something new..
I love when companies give us random, out there ideas. I personally have no use for this, but I'm sure someone does. Plus if they keep it up, they'll eventually hit a home run. It's one of the reasons I was sad to see LG leave the phone market - they truly innovated on a lot of fronts. Also, loved the intro!
On B&H the price for the LG StanbyMe Go is $1196.99. What you're getting for that price is a 27" 60Hz 1920x1080 battery-powered monitor in a briefcase. If I'm spending that amount of money I'd want a display with better specs. I'm afraid the StanbyMe Go isn't really my definition of "fun"...
Caleb as soon as I seen the intro which I really liked and it was funny. Before you came a big time tv reviewer. Samsung in 2015 came out with the Galaxy View 18.4" tablet with a built in carry handle. It only has 32GB and is only1080p . Yeah that is a gimmick size tablet that was meant for watching videos.
So why not get a large screen tablet? I’m imagining using this for outings with a friend or a short 1 night camp trip But battery life will prevent any meaningful use of this product it seems to me
@@PSYCHOV3N0M That’s true, then I suppose it’s a matter of what’s more important. I personally feel the convenience and functionality of a tablet makes for a more appealing product than this, but others may just be looking for the biggest possible portable screen
Whoever in this edge to edge competition can device a technology to manage power efficiently for longer sustainability will win the race. Imagin if a soundbar sub and surrounds were really 'wireless' what an awesome thing it'd be.
This is a hard no for me , low battery life, can't see in bight sunlight why not just use your phone and youtube TV which is what I do now , besides that I watch enough TV at home and I can record what I miss , having no TV is welcome break, take away my phone? Never
I liked the cinematic opening for the StanbyME Go. After seeing what the TV in a briefcase actually does, it looks like a solution in search of a problem.
Loved the clever intro! When is this technology time travel industrial espionage series coming to Peacock or Hulu or Disney Plus?! It would like be better than 99% of what we're getting now, LOL. 🤣
What a fun intro! If you enjoy doing intros like this and they don’t over extend you time-wise, keep doing them!🥰 28 pounds!!? What!!? That is way too heavy for me!! I have three cats and I can’t buy the 28 pound containers of kitty litter because I can’t even get the container off the shelf, much less into and out of my SUV. Even if you are much stronger than me (and I am sure most of you are) I just don’t see how this would be fun or convenient to carry around very much at all! This is a no “go” for me.🥰😢😍 Besides, if I am going camping or something, I like to use the time to take a break from TV and commune with nature and all its beauty, like a RADIANT sunset! Just my opinion anyway. 🤷♀️ Thank you for another fun review! I hope you had a long enough break!? Or did you shoot this ahead of time too? I am a subscriber because I absolutely adore seeing your radiant face popping up in my feed!🥰
I have both in use the LG G8X and the V60 both with dual screens. I had to spend the extra $150.00 for the dual screen for my V60. I bought it a month after the promo ended.
You put tons of effort into this mate, fun AF to watch i wonder what this is tho, though nothing less than a bulkier and less powerful laptop? What can this do that a powerful laptop cannot? It also says it's "Dolby-vision" on tv sticker, but you said "1080P"? Can it run off of wall power? Love the Peter Jackson reference lol
I can’t believe you have an i3 that was my first BMW and first electric! I loved it my wife hated it lol😅 I now am on my 3rd electric BMW and last two have been IX M60’s it’s like i3 on luxury and sport steroids! Def try them out if u like i3 you will love the IX! Great video by the way I bought the go it will be here tomorrow
This is just an odd product in today’s market. It’s too big to travel with, too cumbersome to replace tablets or laptops for streaming, not durable or bright enough for outdoor use, and doesn’t have the battery capacity to make it worth hauling anywhere that it can’t be plugged in. I just don’t get it.
The market for this is in the folks who frequent trade shows and want a bigger-than-laptop display to hawk their wares and services. The lighting at those shows is bright, there’s rarely need for better than FHD resolution, and the stand-in-a-briefcase is a blessing. Would have to run off wall power, I assume it can. Can you Wi-Fi cast to it from a phone or run a video off a usb storage stick? If not, well then….um….not sure who needs this.
it's an interesting device but not practical, if the battery was bigger (at least 10 hr full brightness) and it was ip68 with louder speakers it would be awesome but now i think a big ipad pro with awesome battery life and much more functions is a better choice, it's easy to carry around and the picture quality is perfect and it's also a full function tablet , just the size is smaller which is not the case for a portable device that you can take to airplane with you
I feel like it would be better to just bring an iPad or Samsung Tab if you want a larger screen without having to deal with the bulk of weight. Also it being in a suitcase makes it feel like a gimmick and a waste of space for actual practical uses. In terms of battery life and capacity, I get more out of my phone and it's more useful.
I have Bose 321 system i bought 16 years ago i had dlp tv samsug tv i used. After it black screened i bought new samsung q7f . So I cant use by Bose only rca connections and none on tv Are there any tvs still made today that have RCA connections?
Thanks for the killer review! I didn’t know it had an audio out. Did I hear you correctly that you can Bluetooth audio out to an external wireless speaker? Is it possible to Airplay a movie to the Standbyme Go AND THEN send that audio to an external speaker as well?
@@PSYCHOV3N0M Yes, but I used the term TV because that is how Caleb referred to it. The point is that it does not have a tuner which is even more needed on a portable unit than a normal one.
Funny, I already commented about future possibility of wireless charging TVs in his earlier review and here comes a 'TV on-the-go'. However the way its usecase was presented felt little stupid. It's high time they manufactured solar chargable TV panels like they have done with tv remote.
If the battery power was better a lot better then I could see the point in this. But most people is there out they're going to watch a programme or a movie on the phone
Hahahaha, so first you overpay for a vehicle by 40% because its electric, and then you buy a several thousand dollar "charger" the size of a suitcase? My God electric cars make no sense.
Great intro! As far as LG's StanbyME Go...I don't get it. I mean, laptops exist, right? I'm not imagining things? If you want a gigantic, portable screen, Samsung has comically large tablet that somehow makes more practical sense than this.
I always love LG's electronic products, but even I can tell this is somewhat overkill. Even Juan Bagnell is not a fan of it, and he's an outright LG guy.
I wouldn't call it over kill. The very earliest portable cell phones were in briefcases before the early 1990's when they were in big size carry bags. People forget about the big laptops that people carried around there were a few made inside big protective brief cases. It's just not the screen in the case you need the built-in speakers in there too. Being from the 80's people used to carry around the biggest and heaviest boom boxes around. So overkill is totally subjective. Because even in the boombox 80's you still had every type of handheld portable cassette or cd player that was made by every electronics manufacturer. I remember vividly someone using a computer monitor in a coffee shop.
I purchased the original LG standbyeme which was heavy and a nightmare to drag around… I thought the Standbyeme go would be better.. Same issues with the original… The battery life is horrible and the case isn’t equipped with USB-C… In almost 2024 they added an old USB… Come on LG… You can’t even use it as a second monitor… WEB OS is laggy and horrible… You can’t even get google chrome and some other sites on WEB OS… My iPad Pro battery life is much better and easier to lug around… This was a good idea but lack everything you truly need out of a television and monitor.. You can hook up a fire stick but you lose touch screen… I’ll give this 2 stars…… Get an iPad instead!!
@@PSYCHOV3N0M Yup ideally I would want oled with high refresh rate, you can get rid of the touchscreen I don't have use for it. Battery could stay or go but if it lowered the price decently axe it. I have the old Gaems Vanguard case which was nice for its time.
You might want to change barbers....unless your significant other likes your new doo. Spending a couple grand on a portable TV seems absurd, but buying a small home on wheels to go "camping" seems absurd to me as well. Buying a backup power source to protect computer files and keeping your phone charged (so family knows you're ok in an emergency) seems a ton more practical.
