LG V30 Review: A force to be reckoned with 

One thing I did forget to mention is the vibration motor! It's PERFECT in this phone! Love it! Really brings the experience together!

It's a monster and worth to buy

Definitely underrated.

Ultimately, I'm glad I decided to get the V30 over the Pixel 2 XL. I'm very happy with my V30.

The LG V30 makes me ditch Apple after being with Apple for the past 9 years.

Picking up my V30 plus tomorrow morning.

I must say, aside from the phone itself. There's one more thing about LG V30 spec that is underrated and no other tech reviewers are covering.... The wireless "aptX HD" support which also delivers when it comes to high quality audio. Not to mention also that V30 is already bluetooth 5.0 certified which brings more stable and longer range connection with higher bitrate compression. So yeah, LG didn't just upped their "wired audio" game but they also have something to offer for those no longer wants a headphone jack.

For the first time in my live I am so impressed with LG phone. V30 nailed it this time. Just a front cam could be better.

The location of the volume rocker, a non removable battery, the second screen removed and the freaking ir blaster gone is a deal breaker. Loved that in the v10 and v20.

I definitely will be getting mine next month, LG really out did themselves this time, perhaps being underated, I believe that the others are slightly jealous because LG phone's are solid, everything you want in a smartphone and then some, LG stands for Life Good, and they are built to last too., Still got an old LG phone, two LG TVs, LG G6, going into LG V30.🙂🙂🙂.

Definitely picking on up! Been an LG user a long time. Owned the G3 and still using a G4. Very happy and pleased with the underdog of smartphones.

That's one nice phone and I have to say that buying a phone just for the camera's sake seems somewhat skewed. There are always compromises to be made and what makes the v30 pop is that there are so few of them inherent in this device.

I'll be waiting on the V40 I already picked up a U11 this year and I'm quite pleased with it.

I can't wait for this phone, I will be upgrading from the V20. Hoping for improvements to the overall audio quality. A feature I see alot of reviews fail to mention is the MQA support, once Tidal comes out with an update for mobile MQA, This feature is going to rock. Up to 32/384 MQA with the hardware decoding of this phone like a few quite expensive desktop DACs out there. Many quite popular MQA tracks on Tidal already support atleast 24/192 audio.

If smartphones should have dual cameras that should be their inplementation. Telephoto lenses are an excuse. "We can't figureout monochrome or wide angle, so let's zoom, done"

Regarding the front facing camera... try turning off the face smoothing. It helps a ton. But yeah, they definitely sacrificed the front camera a bit to keep the bezel small.

I probably will be upgrading soon to this one, but I love my LG V10!, it has the volume buttons on the back, which attracted me to it, no accidentally adjusting the volume when holding it, I wish they would have kept that feature, my V10 has awesome sound, takes really good pics too, I kept having problems with Samsung phones, so I tried LG, so glad I did!

The main reason I'll be passing on this phone is that front facing camera. Really leaves a lot to be desired. That was the deal breaker for me cos I really need it to be good. Also, can I take a moment just to compliment the reviewer, Zachary, for doing a fantastic job? Very engaging to listen to with a good vocabulary and relevant points. A lot of reviews drone about specs and how that's 'good' but this actually felt like a review that covered things that matter. Fantastic job.

Just got my V30 last week. Loving it.

POLED is supposed to be more resistant to burn in than regular OLED, but after two weeks, I can already see some minor burn in from the navigation bar buttons.

I wish you had addressed the three main concerns.. Screen quality (uniformity), OS updates, and bloatware. I feel like I didn't really learn anything more than a pre production quick review.

LG V30 is a definite buy for me but I will not be using the front camera for selfies much if at all. That's my only downside with it so far.

Not sure why the need to black out the navigation and home button bar at the bottom in some apps. The purpose of the edge to edge screen is to have a more immersive feel in everything. Blacking out the bottom bar where the home button sits doesnt do that. Not a Samsung fan but they actually made a transparent bar and thats the whole purpose of an edge to edge.

This is actually a really nice phone! I got it by accident but I really like it thus far.

Walked into the TMobile store last week to buy an S8+ (I still love that phone). However, I walked out with a V30 and I'm very happy with it. The Quad DAC wired headphones weren't even on my radar when I bought it, but I've fallen in love with the audio quality. Beautiful looking, beautiful sounding, powerhouse of a phone. What's not to like.

Just got it today... Love it! Especially the no lag, very snappy device!

The prices of the V30 has really fallen and there also happens to be a notification light and a double tap to wake and sleep feature which is missing in most of the phones today.

Sending my Galaxy S6 to pasture and copping my first LG phone since the Voyager!

Awesome review! I have been looking for a new phone for a few months but decided I didn't want an iPhone or Samsung (which is what I have now) because I wanted to try something different. Just purchase the LG V30 and am so excited to start playing with it!!!

Please list the details of your home screen set up (It's the best I've seen so far). Btw - How did you get a blue model? No one that I know in the states is selling that variant. .... I bought the LG V30 on October 5th and have enjoyed it ever since. The screen is beautiful, and the audio is amazing. My only minor gripe is the back button feels a little shallow (or spongy), and I'm not getting as good of a result with the camera as you stated (probably user error on my part). However, coming over from an iPhone 6s I'm amazed at the quality and speed of the LG.

This types of designs look much better than the phone with notches!

LG phones have been great since the G2 always innovated. Especially the G3 first phone with 65%+ Screen to Body Ratio, QHD Display, 3000mah battery, Laser Focus this was 2014 and phones are barely getting these today.

LG V30 plus just launched here in India(128GB version) coming with a free wireless charger and one time free screen replacement for launch offer Not to mention the best thing : price LG V30+ is 700$ Galaxy s8 is 840$ Galaxy s8+ is 920$ Note 8 is 1040$ iPhone x is 1380$ It's ridiculous how criminally underrated V30 is. Half price than that of iPhone x. I was thinking of going for the s8 but I thing I'll go for the V30+, too irresistible at that price.

I swerved the G6 waiting for this to be released. So definitely buying.

Left the iPhone for this device. I bought the 8 Plus 256, was over $1100 for a phone with a 4 year old body, a 1080p screen, etc. Took it back. That phone should retail for $650. I enjoy buying luxury products, Apple used to deliver that. At this point though they are almost 100% copying innovation from competition, and selling it a year or 2 (or more) later, pretending like it's new, and selling it at a premium. I'm not gonna get hustled like that. Am thinking about making a video of how I tailored my Android experience to make the transition from iOS doable. If you're interested, let me know.

I've had the LG V10 for two years now and I'm going to the Pixel 2 XL. I really felt like after the G5 and V20 came out, the V10 lost its support from Google and LG and really felt like it got worse with time, I'm hoping that the Pixel will have more support and last longer.

I recently bought the LG V20 heavily discounted and a grey import as they did not release it in the UK. The quad DAC is absolutely phenomenal, and the rest of the phone is not too shabby, I love the secondary screen, very useful (it's a shame they've dropped it). However, if the V30 has improved the DAC and camera then in a couple of years time I will have no hesitation in upgrading to the V30 (and LG are going to release this one in the UK).

Don't forget that they cheap put on the storage and choose ufs 2.0 instead of ufs 2.1 which has double the preformance in reading.

I really love what LG have done with the V30. My only gripe with the phone is LG's UX design. I don't even have an issue with having a skin. The added features are actually very nice. It is just how it all looks.

Its been 3 years with my Nexus 6 , its time for an upgrade and it gonna be LG V30 :-)

Switched to iPhone years ago for company email. Could not resist trying the V30 for audio and gigabit speed. Wow! This phone is wicked! My iPhone X still has no headphone jack and no gigabit speed :( So V30 will still have a place in my arsenal.
