OMG thank you so much! My filter was leaking everywhere! I cleaned the edges of the filter like you advised and there was a screw trapped there. Now it has stopped leaking. Thank you!!
Mine had some sand and gravel trapped at the entrance to the filter area between the machine and the filter. Threads were pretty clean but I think it was the gravel at the back that prevented the rubber seal from compressing fully. Thanks for this video! My wife was ready to call a plumber / repairman
I know you most likely won’t see this but holy frick dude Thank You! I was trying this for an hour until I saw you video and it saved my sanity thank you again and bless you.
Thank you for taking the time to make and share this video. Don’t worry about what the other cruel fools say below... I was literally in tears on the flooded laundry room floor and you made the difference in my day. thank you! My son thanks you too ha ha!
When I saw this I thought "NO FUCKING WAY!!" I inspected all of the hoses, took the machine apart, picked out a new one....tried this AND IT FUCKING WORKED!!!! there were small bits of sand or gravel breaking the seal, wiped it all down and IT WORKED!!! THANK YOU
The issue for me was a bit of built up sand at the back of the open cylinder that was keeping the seal from tightening at the front. It was such a small amount. The feel was noticeably smoother when tightening without the sand at the back.
I’m just coming across this video , 2024… I’m shocked at the rudeness and profanity. I appreciate this helpful advice, a lot. If I didn’t, I’d still keep my mouth shut. Be nice
You are my hero if this works:) we've had this front load washer and dryer for over a year now and it's been leaking off and on for the last few months. The worst being this morning, I didn't find any actual items inside the filter but I cleaned out all of the crud and rinsed it and dried it. I also cleaned out all of the crud just inside where the seal sits. Any advice on moldy smelling clothes coming out of the washer? I have found that water and left over soap hangs out in the rubber area of the washer so i need to constantly dry that out and then let it dry each and every time. Note to self and anyone reading this I would never buy this style of washing machine again. Lots of issues I just want to set it and forget it not have issues with the machine every time I do a load of laundry.
Jessica, my jeans and dark clothes have a funky smell when I take them out. If I add 20 Mule Team borax to the wash, they are fine!!! I have had my LG for 10 years or so, and I love it. I only use 1/2 the soap it calls for, and my clothes are very clean. Good luck! I hope you find your answers!!!
Yes i mainly close it to wear the door suctions closed but is not completely closed but i will try to keep it open more and see if that helps thank you
Thank you Christine I will try to locate some team mule borax and see if that works yes I have noticed we def don't need the soap it calls for and lately i've been noticing it abnormally suds up. The worst being recently when my husband tried to do a load:) We had to do a double rinse/wash cycle. It's mainly the towels that i find smells the worst but not always so I'm gonna try your tips thank you!
I have never had to keep my door open. I have owned a front loader since 1974. My washer never, ever smells. I think this is because when it does start smelly musty, I do the tub clean and use bleach. I have heard that a smelly front loader can be due to overuse of detergent. It sudses up more and the suds go where I can't remember and can coat your bearings. I use powder HE Tide and only use 2 tablespoons per load. At least that's what a friend of mine who was an appliance repairman said and I verified it on Google. I'd call him now, but he passed away about 2 years ago.
I drain and clean mine after every load. Inherited the washer from the previous owner, 5 years old. Always clean, was just doing it for the smell. But all of a sudden, floor was flooded. I think my problem may be further back in the pump itself. Definitely more water than the usual pint or so. Replaced the filter today, but lots of water is still leaking out the front of the filter. These machines are way more trouble than the top loaders. They weigh a ton and barely fit in the closets from the old style ones, so dragging it out to take the big panels off is going to be a lot of work.
One more tip - if you flip the big rubber washer on that cap, you get a fresh seal - same as flipping an old garden hose washer. To get a new washer, you have to buy the entire part - but it's less than $10 on amazon.
I found this really helpful, After watching this video i went and smashed my full fucking garage up and smashed my washing to bits This video stressed me out
I had the smallest piece of jewelry at the very back of the recess where the filter enters, it stopped the filter tightening properly. Water flooded the kitchen 😢. Make sure every little piece of rubbish is removed from threads and recess. Also you will know when the filter tightens properly, it stops turning completely without much effort....
Did you try the Drain Tube? if clogged I suck the excess water out , and or tip back so most of the water is not near the pump. be careful water may damage your floor and i can not be responsible for what you do. Thank you
so Did you try the drain tube in front by the filter? Or suck the water out with a shop vac or get most of it out and tilt it back so you can put a bucket under it
