Fishing the shoreline waters at night in Hawai'i is known as "torching" or "lama lama".
Three Important elements have to line up for this kind of activity: The moon, the wind, and the tide. When you are lucky enough to get favorable conditions in all three conditions, good things happen!
Torching is how my friends and I prefer to hunt mullet when they are in season. Usually we employ a boat, but on this outing we used Kent Nishioka's tricked out lantern backpacks.
This is more fun than you can imagine!
