That 3D Mario head was popular with the RU-vid Poop community for a long while, along with the Mario Teaches Typing 2 and Mario Gallery (I think that's the name). Anyways, I remembered seeing this game at Elementary school and I remembered playing it.

Thanks. However, April is Edutainment Month, has been for years. And these *are* old PC games, but it's a themed month so yeah, sorry if you don't like the theme. Also, the Sims reviews aren't going anywhere either, they're kind of "my thing"...

Lazy Game Reviews I'm referring to the one from the 1994 "new" version of the game. That's really far out! I always thought it was a standalone tech demo for Super Mario 64.

5 year old comment, I know, but I remember hearing that the Mario head was featured at some gaming event in the 90s. Not sure what event or year, but they had Charles Martinet talking to people at the event in-character through the Mario head using facial tracking. Edit: Looked into it a little bit, it was first featured at the 1992 Summer Consumer Electronics Show. Also, from what I can gather they had multiple booths with multiple people doing Mario impressions. I was 11 when this came out. I had relatively good typing at the time, but this really helped it even more. And Typing of the Dead expanded my skills later on. Kids today miss out on the fun of PCs being a new thing and having to learn to type back then. Now they just grow up with technology and probably can out type me by the age of 5.

That reminds me of these Japanese Typing Games, like Typing of the Dead. But in boring. Also, those normally don't really present themselves as educational (although the thought of a zombie-killing game sold as "edutainment" is nearly as funny as the concept of TOTD itself). That 3D Mario face... I think I saw it before, but I thought it was from Super Mario 64. Or a hacked version of SM64, at least, since it quite differs from the one in that game. The truth might be more horrible and makes me wonder whether any children got traumatized by this game, before they got simply bored by it.

rob zombie Beat Typing of the Dead: Overkill the day I got it :) I don't like it as well as the original -- not as cheesy, which is part of the fun -- but still a great game.

Guerilla Grue Plays Your right but the first typing of the dead is better but it used the same storyline as the shooting arcade game why i sorta like the second one better cause atleast the storyline was different even if the first one is better

You're considering it a bad thing? Maybe it is, because Interplay has made a few questionable choices starting in 1997 when they did Descent to Undermountain... after doing Fallout 1, they also had great financial problems after Fallout Tactics was done. Van Buren cancelled, and then a terrible spinoff for PS2 & Xbox before finally giving up the license to Bethesda.

Cool, I had this game as a kid! I think it must have been the CD version because I recognize Mario's "airplane noises." I'm actually a fairly good typist now, even transcribing podcasts for a job, so it must've helped somewhat. But I remembered it being more fun than it looks.

Mario Teaches Typing Is an educational Typing game Released for the Apples Macintosh and MS-DOS in 1992 And it was later released for the Microsoft Windows in 1994 This game is made by Nintendo, Knowledge Adventure and Interplay production

Dude!!! Thank you so much for bringing up 3-D Dinosaur Adventure. I've been searching for that game forever.. there's another edutainment game I forgot that I hope to find on your channel as well. There is one where you are in a hospital and go inside a persons body to help save them at the blood cell level.. Super creepy as a 5 year old. Anyways, love your content!

such stuff is always nice for kids. even i had in school pc typing learning software. which they had teached us back than. it helps to write stuff on pc when you new to pc stuff at all.

I remember playing this game on my school's computer but I had NO idea what to do properly. This was the second time I was introduced to Mario. The first was playing Super Mario 64 at a hospital (And losing all my lives all the time. =3)

It was actually this program where I heard the Donut Plains music for the very first time, and its particular arrangement got ingrained into my young mind from playing the game a lot. So when I finally heard the original version of the song in Super Mario World itself and even to this very day, I completely dismissed it because in my mind it was playing it all wrong by playing the two halves in the wrong order. The MTT version of the song just makes more sense to me.

Yeah... if you want to practice typing, just get Typing of the Dead. Its much faster paced, much more exciting, and more importantly; much more fun! And the CD Rom head animation thing, that was originally some technology test they did at a presentation or something. Yes it was weird then too.

This is what I learned to type on in the 5th grade in 1995!! I won in a typist competition in high school and averaged 120 wpm. Now that I am 34, I average 150. This program works pretty well. I am not kidding

The original actor you mention - Ronald Rubin - must be the same guy who voiced Morph in X-Men The Animated Series and Artemis in the original Sailor Moon dub. It HAS to be - I can't think of another voice-over performer that is also named Ron Rubin. Saw him in a panel years ago. GREAT dude.

I once watched videos on a promotional Apple CD called MacAdvocate, to teach new users about System 7.5. In some of them, Mario Teaches Typing was on the Launcher in the background, and until now, I was ever so curious about it. Now I wish that icon had never been in the shots.

The rap music cracks me up. Funny how most "rappers" today don't hold a flame to random rappers back in the 90's. I'm sincerely convinced today's rappers are simply braindead puppets who think being a rapper means you have to be a drug addict/alcoholic. Even a rap song I heard on a Goosebumps episode goes way harder than a modern rap song.

I love that the company that birthed the Fallout franchise (my personal favorite series of all time) also made “Mario Teaches Typing”. You know, if the theory of parallel universes is true some sad people out there got Mario Teaches Typing 4 rather than New Vegas.
