I still watch this series occasionally whenever I need background noise to working on art or something. Whenever I just want something chill for the night. You two are so entertaining together and it’s a fun time
Part of what makes an otherwise mediocre (and often infuriating game) IS being silly and trying the fun stuff! The first 2 games, we were legitimately trying to puzzle solve, but this game proved to be absurd and poorly programmed. Also, this was done in a very informal stream, so silliness and absurdity are much more likely when you have a chatroom involved. :)
Omg I have a story about a cockroach, too, and its name was also Bob! This was back in early 2011. I noticed one day while I was doing laundry that a roach had gotten into the washing machine, and it somehow survived a washing cycle. I was impressed that it survived, albeit with half of an antenna snapped off. So, I decided to keep it and name it Bob. I put it in one of those tupperware containers that you get from a Chinese restaurant, and I made sure to put a small hole in the lid for air. I gave it water in a little beer bottle cap, and I fed it different things, like rice grains and even other roaches. My girlfriend at the time was surprised that I had kept it alive for quite some time - a few months, IIRC.
You almost beat this game! What you had left to do was fill the syringe with brown liquid (by clicking the liquids from right, then middle, then left, then go put the sleeping pills in the cops mug (finnicky clicking), then go to the store and get the axe, then go break open the big crate with the axe, use the wet towel to get the stone from the crate, go to the throne room and hand the ghoul leader the potion and stone to get the boiling potion. Go to the cellar in the other castle where you open the curtain and use the compass to go into the chute, use the Mold Spice on the green goo in the next room to prevent dying and look out the window if you want to grab a coin to play the arcade game, make sure the trinket is selected, go left twice, but afterwards proceed to try to go down and right as much as possible (which going left once or twice may be required), pass the vamps while having the trinket selected, inject the dog with brown liquid (only once! twice will kill the dog) then take the bone. Go back to the town square with the mortal remains, put the bone back onto the skeleton, use the boiling potion on the skeleton. The End.
I can't believe it's been 8 years since this was released. I loved this trilogy with you guys + the wasteland collab ❤️ These episodes helped me sleep got me through when I had major depression. You guys are amazing.
It would be cool if they could revisit this series by playing through the remake of LHoD trilogy that came out in 2000! I don't see any other vids on it so they can be trailblazers once again for this kooky series
I must have watched the entire series three times already. I love your banter, you two work so well together. Such a shame playing the game was so clunky and you had to give up.
I'm still here watching the entire set of 3 videos multiple times a year. You two are better than chocolate for soothing a broken soul. Cheers! Btw, I still call pickles pickels. And they must be crunchy. Haven't been able to find the ones with antlers yet though, but who knows. There's still time.
I just love the part on 1:25:00, when PUR means they should dedicate their lives to walkthrough this game and LGR just laughs insane. ^^ Haha! You two are just great!
You guys make a great team, not too many people can make a playthrough of an obviously painful game thoroughly entertaining to watch. Keep up the great work!
Uh, you mean like here, like you're doing now? Or email? Or Twitter? Or Facebook? Or during live streams through chat like this video was? I'm not what you'd call unapproachable, all you have to do is say hi!
Your narration and this series where you and clint had the amazing synergy literally helped me through depression, giving me calm to sleep, several years ago. Thank you, cannot be expressed into words, but thank you.
The single most survivable animal in existence, the cockroach, unkillable to the point we take it with us into hostile environments as a litmus test for their threat, and PushingUpRoses killed one by trying to keep it alive.
I actually streamed Personal Nightmare last year, should be on my twitch page. No plans to replay that one! It was intensely hard. Maybe Waxworks, though.
TEN YEARS and y'all still got me laughing like a fool. Thank you for making this! I fall asleep rewatching and laughing along to the Last Half of Darkness series all the time.
This lets play was hilarious, though If LGR ever goes to hell, imagine that this game, and the sims 4 will be his punishment for all eternity. If heaven, I imagine restoring old ibms for eternity will be his gift.
No idea of the next time, but I post announcements on Twitter, Facebook, through the Twitch subscription/email service, and post a video on RU-vid when it's going on. So there's really no way to miss it unless you're just not looking or are simply not around :)
I want you to know I fell asleep listening to the DECtalk PC Oddware. and woke up to last 20 or so mins of this. While I was still asleep I was interpreting your discussion as a teacher (female) leading students around and telling stories. Which slowly morphed into a teacher and students doing a letsplay with a livechat's help
I'm sad that I missed the stream. I watched most of the first two and they were fun to watch. But thank you for uploading this to youtube. You're one cool dude, Clint.
I watched the rest from Twitch and it was funny also. I really liked that you played different games. You guys have great chemistry and it's fun to listen to you.
My only guess as to what you were SUPPOSED to do next was take the wet towel, wring it out over the fire where you start the game, and maybe find a key in it or something. Man, i loved the first two games from what i saw in the streams, but this one is preeeeetty frustrating. And thats coming from someone who enjoyed the annoying torches in shadowgate and the lovely cursed objects and timed uninvited.
+Stefano Pavone Well, while this game does seem like it doesn't really seem to be worth the effort, i am excited to see exactly how on earth this connects to the first 2 games if it does at all. Where can i find your walkthrough?
That's actually for "Last Half of Darkness 3: Tomb of Zojir", from the later LHoD series. THIS one is officially just "Last Half of Darkness 3" with no sub-title. Good lookin' out tho! =)
1:04:15 What if the bird was just the scientists' pet? :P And besides, wouldn't freeing a domestic bird just condemn it to death anyways? I feel they would be very easy prey. I suppose it's moot, though, considering it's now not a bird at all.
I'm late in responding to this, but... Thank you for giving me closure on this game and seeing it through to the end. it was a fun, and I'm a fan of the banter between the both of you guys.
I always wanted to complete the full versions of these games since back in the day. If you guys are still have any way to contact the developer, I was wondering if there is anyway I could purchase all three. I only had a buggy shareware version of part one back in the day. I remember playing it on my IBM PS1 with DOS version 6.22
from the future. watching these were entertaining. I wish I knew of you guys a few years ago. You two have a very similar personalities and taste as I do. :)
I wasn't even playing this but felt frustration just watching you guys play. The game certainly needed more polishing. Don't blame you for giving up but somewhere in there is a good game. Bravo for trying to get through it.
for some reason, when i full-screen, the video gets much, much darker, obscuring a lot of the details. just wondering if anybody else is experiencing this, and if there is a fix.
ANY chance of you finishing this game? I want to see the ending. LOVE your Sims 3 reviews LGR!!! Every time I hear you speak I think of Bruce Campbell lol.
I would absolutely ADORE you two if you show your attempt of your playthrough of Waxworks, Elvira I and II, and Personal Nightmare. Those games have death galore. I beg you. Please, please, please, please, please do it. It's a tall order but at least consider Waxworks!
I say give it one more shot at recording it. I've played it before and you are right about it being clunky, but vastly more entertaining in every way. (Plus, walkthroughs are available for it.)
Wait, did you stream a game of Personal Nightmare and Waxworks? From what you guys said in the video it seems likely... Is it archived somewhere? I would love to see them! :3 PS: Do you dare to play "Dare to Dream"?
Even though Last Half of Darkness games have annoying as balls protection, they're actually pretty good considering one guy did all the art and programming. I hope you stick with the series...the games only get better from here and I really enjoy listening to and watching you two play these games! Thanks for introducing me to Pushing Up Roses!
I loved watching you guys play it. Do you know when the next time you will be doing a live stream is? Is there a place where you post when you will be doing them?
I am rewatching all 3 parts, and playing RDR2. and just by coincidence at about 34:25 in this video, i get a "hello Arthur" at the camp in RDR2 from one of the NPCs. Kinda weird
LGR! Hear my plea! I have been searching long and hard for a game from my youth that is somewhat similar to "Last Half of Darkness". My mother bought it from a cheap bin at a grocery store in the early 1990's. A point and click adventure game with a very morbid premise of being stuck in a nightmare world. I remember very vivid reds and blues for most of the coloring and starting the game with only a unicorn key in your pocket. Cannot remember the name or find any leads online. Any ideas?
Watching your videos always makes me feel nostalgic, even though everything you review is from before I was old enough to even video games. Are you a wizard? A freshly-disembearded wizard?
