I knew that driving a truck required more cooperation from other road users, but only in a vague "better give him more room" kinda way. So its really helpful to get specifics that I can watch out for. I'll prob never drive a truck but I think its good for car drivers to know *how* a truck needs to be driven, just to make things easier and safer all round. Great vids, thanks and keep it up.
Every vehicle that uses the roads should have to study videos like this to make them more aware how a hgv has to be driven on our roads . Great video mate
What I sometimes do intentionally with my truck, is, to " accidentally " change lane before actually turn and stop diagonally across 2 lanes( one left turn and maybe one straight on lane on my side )with indicator on , so that nobody can drive past left or right of my truck while I set my articulated vehicle up correctly to get around tight left turn corner. 😅. Too many drivers have no clue about arricukated vehicles need for space to clear a bend or turn. We do not have rotorblades yet and drones cannot carry enough loo rolls or sofas yet..LOL

Instructor today was having me do tight turns like this but was adamant we were staying in the left lane but then screaming when the trailer was coming into the curb. Confused the shite out of me! Even I was asking; shouldn't we be using both lanes??
Victoria Avenue, North Manchester. Nice and quiet industrial estate for parking further 2 miles up (Greengate). Puregym, Stagecoach, chippy, Greggs all in 1 mile radius. Reasonable security too as there's a few companies that way like Stagecoach, Mantra Learning, Matthews Transport, LWC,DVSA,etc.

Used to have many a disagreement with examiners at a particular junction in Longsite Manchester, where there were two lanes, left lane for turning left, right lane for going ahead. Used to tell my learners to take the full outside lane to turn left. I was happy with that, as long as they checked their left mirrors before turning in case of undertakers. Examiners didn't like it and some learners failed because of straddling both lanes. These Examiners had never driven a wagon for a living!
For anybody saying this is not hard work, it is just driving. You have no idea what concentration for very long periods can do to you, it is more tiring than exercise for a few hours. Take fishing for example, you sit in one place all day for 8 to 10 hours, all you do really is stare at a float in the water waiting for bites but you have to concentrate, I am telling you at the end of the day when you pack up, you are absolutely finished and knackered, driving and especially a big truck like this for a long period takes probably 5 times more concentration than in a normal car bearing in mind any mistakes can have massive consequences even at low speeds and also cost your job very easily, so those things alone are added stress and work, to me anyway. Overall it seems like hard work even if all you did was driving but then you have loggin in, strapping up and a number of other things. It is not a cushty little lazy number by far.
