This girl is still a kid, shes never been away from her parents or her brother. She’s literally emotionally distraught and scared. She said she wasnt going to give up and she probably couldve done a lot worse but she had a little bit of try in her performance. Imagine your whole family being back in hawaii and you’re navigating a singing competition during the roughest week of Idol. Girl is going through it.

Sha’Carri Richardson ran her 100 m when her mom had just died and she put her all in it and you could see her passion while she ran, and after, during interviews. Think about how people in the army feel when they’re months or even years away from family with no communication🙃 think about people that don’t even have family.. Then she should go home. Once you're signed you have to tour your record to make your money and your label money.. you travel the world, you travel to different countries.... mommy and daddy can't be there to hold your hand every step of the way. if you want to be a worldwide Superstar you're going to have to go around the world to be worldwide. Katy was right there are other people that want it more and will do whatever it takes to get it. her being that way during this is making it easier for them cuz once you fall there's someone else in the industry right behind you that will take your spot and get signed.

I get why you guys think Katy was wrong but I honestly think she did the right thing. I get that the girl hasn’t been away from family for a long time but if you wanna pursue your dreams you have to fight for it. Katy wasn’t being mean she was speaking her mind and that’s what makes her a good judge. Besides she went on tour right after receiving a break up text and having a break down an hour before tour she survived a lot too and 24 is still kind of a teenage age so you guys can’t rlly be mad at her I mean she has to judge her it’s the point to get better

Honestly, Katy is giving them a reality check. And I think that is fair. As a coach, she has to show them whats up. It's tough love. And you could see that she cared and wanted them to improve because they got through to the next round! Yes, i get their kids, but their in an adult competition. I still think they did great, personally, but you could tell that she was holding back because of her sadness. Dont get me wrong, they sounded beautiful!

People who said that the judges is not empathatic is just wrong. Its hard to be away from family but thats life and dont take things lightly. Someday you are gonna be away from your family either it is about ur studies, ur job or even death. You gotta live with it gurl! You're on american idol and you have to fought for it . Its hard to be away from family but this is one golden opportunity for her to prove who she is as an artist . She is very lucky that she has been given a chance to prove herself again. This is just a starter girl, the music industry is more cruel than you think. If you gonna cry bcs being away from your family then music is not gonna work for you. Keep your heads up and be strong bcs eventually being strong is whats keep you forward. And last ,both of these girls nailed the song in their own way. She was only being human, reacting to the parting of her brother whom she had for moral support since the beginning. It will take her some time to accommodate that. Katy Perry was only being a rational judge, one who said it how it was. After all, the music industry isn’t an easy game, it isn’t something you can get into without making sacrifices. Neither of them was wrong, but I hope the best for everyone.

When you’re struggling in a competition & don’t have that family support unit close by, it can be pretty tough but when you get the brutal, upfront & honest TRUTH delivered to you, it will only help you improve. Katy is no old school Simon Cowell but what she said was 100% right ☝️😉👍 Even the BEST artists in the world have been told the brutal truth in similar fashion early in the careers.

For y’all saying Katy is in the wrong she wasn’t I can understand and appreciate the fact that she was homesick but listen up when you’re on tour and eventually world tour you’re not going to have your family by you every step of the way and you’re going to have numerous tragedies throughout your career wether it’s a death break up or whatever you have to put that aside step on stage and give the show that people attended and paid for and give it your absolute all she wasn’t trying and what you people don’t realise is the fact that it was a group performance she could’ve potentially put your partners chance at jeopardy it’s better she hears the constructive criticism early on than later Katy had every right not only is she a judge she’s a pop star as well and has gone through hell and back and still put on a hell of a performance if you don’t have thick skin to put on a 3 minute performance let alone a 1hr 30min+ concert you’re not going to have what it takes to be in the music business or any industry that comes with fame for that matter

If u wanna be big u have to be able to put your emotions to the side when situations come along and and do the best u can. Katy was absolutely right about everything she said. And it wasn’t to be mean, she’s been through this before Katy was just giving her the truth and a boost of confidence that she is good but u can’t pull stunts like she did and always get away with it. She was lucky Katy let her go through.

She said it in one of her performances after this that she intended to show that emotion. When I was watching it, it came through for me. Her emotions at this time and the song fitted. It's just that when you're in the show, the song has been sang multiple times. ..but as a viewer from this video, forgetting her recent history, the delivery is on point. How can we say that she's sabotaging herself when she is playing the piano while singing? Duh?

Katy was all the way right! Liahona did great and all but she really was putting the other girls goal in jeapordy !! Liahona was basically letting all the contestants there have at better chance at beating her! Based off of leilas face, it looked like they didn’t do what they practiced. she could of done way better .

y’all are being big babies about this situation. Katy told her what she needed to hear. about EVERYONE else is also away from their families. she needs to be mature about it or simply go home. in my opinion, Katy was very generous with letting her go through. I would have definitely sent her home because everyone else wants to be there and is fighting for it. don’t @ me in the comments, because I’m just speaking the truth, also, yes ik it’s hard to be away from family but you can’t let that show. she came off as weak and unready in this episode. plus, I think she was being a little dramatic cause this had only been a week after her brother left.

I mean what she’s saying is not wrong, but her delivery is totally not okay, there was a better way to put that piece of advice to her….but she has a point, when you get into that industry you are definitely NOT going to have time to spend days with your families, so it’s a good time to try to adjust yourself to it before you blow up and start touring ❤
